Title: Re: Beware of this website selling coprocessors Post by: teknohog on June 27, 2013, 07:50:48 PM Beware of this website selling coprocessors for mining. :o http://miningcoprocessor.weebly.com/index.html It does look a little funny, because these are not particularly good mining hardware. They (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xeon_Phi) are basically massively parallel sets of x86 CPUs, so the potential mining efficiency would be somewhere between a CPU and a GPU. On the other hand, a lot of people might find these useful, and if you can buy them with BTC, then great! Unless, of course, it's really a scam, but who knows... Title: Re: Beware of this website selling coprocessors Post by: mgio on June 27, 2013, 07:54:25 PM Seems like a scam as they cost waaaay more than 5 bitcoins.
Title: Re: Beware of this website selling coprocessors Post by: rizzla on June 27, 2013, 09:36:20 PM These things cost about 5 times the price this guy is asking: http://ark.intel.com/products/71992/Intel-Xeon-Phi-Coprocessor-5110P-8GB-1_053-GHz-60-core
Almost sure it's a scam :-\ Title: Re: Beware of this website selling coprocessors Post by: Xch4ng3 on June 27, 2013, 09:50:40 PM Haha lovely. Claims to be able to sell hardware as expensive as this yet can't afford a domain or hosting. More than likely a scam. Below are a few of the users profiles based on the MTGox username:
Code: http://www.bitcointrading.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1900 Also, possible address and full information listed from another of his domains. Code: http://whois.polodomains.com/domain/iJGdzcoUgpoHUnWz9NNvEf0Hv6qPnX8T_info.html https://i.imgur.com/UgDboSZ.png All public information. If Jonathan comes in to this thread and wishes to clarify any misunderstanding then I'll be happy to edit this post out but this is clearly a scam. Poor website, no refund policy, no actual structure in their process all leads to this being a scam or very shambolic operation. This information was put up not to create a witch hunt but to allow users to get in touch with you directly in case you fail to deliver on your products. Quote Estimates for hash rate are around 280mh/s USD 595.6 / 280mh = $0.000002125 per hash :-\ Title: Re: Beware of this website selling coprocessors Post by: broken_pixel on June 29, 2013, 05:31:07 PM The reason I posted this thread was because I know someone who chats on Cryptsy that ordered one. ::)
