Title: What is the most reliable Multicoin wallet?
Post by: antonio2234 on November 23, 2017, 02:48:32 PM
Hi,

I am confused! When I find a multicoin wallet, I see lots of bad scam reviews about them (such as Coinomi or Coinpayments).

What is the best & reliable multicoin wallet today which support at least first 30 top ranked coin?

Hmm. IMO the best multicoin wallet for me at the moment is myetherwallet.com. It's ETH wallet and ERC20 token wallet. It's very secure and easy to use but you can't store your BTC in here. But there are some fake website MEW website so you should be careful when you want to log in your MEW wallet, take a look at the website address before you fill your private key in.

As far as supporting 30+ top cryptocurrencies is concerned, Coinomi is a good choice. The scam accusations has nothing to do with Coinomi. Their code is open source, some scammers took it and created malicious clones to scam people. They have been in service since 2014 and have a good rep. IMO Coinomi is one of the better multi-coin wallets. If security is your concern use hardware wallets or try Exodus wallet, supports 20 cryptos.

I am using the jaxx and myetherwallet. Instead of coinomi and coinpayments you can try these wallets because simple and user friendly. It is available in multiple platforms like windows, mac and android.
I am saving some ethereum and bitcoin also in the jaxx wallet so far it is so easy have the multiple digital currencies in the one wallet.

What coins and how many do they support?
As I see they have only Ether, right?

That's not the best and that's not a multicoin wallet, that's really an Ethereum wallet. Jaxx and Coinomi are good because they are easy to use, but there are security vulnerabilities in both. Google them.

Plus in the case of Coinomi. They didn't handle the situation professionally when a user told them about the vulnerability. There was a funny blog about it. You can google that too.

Exodus is the winner for now which has no security issues reported.

I use exodus desktop wallet and i think exodus is one of the best multi currency wallets with high level security.
This has the ability to exchange your assets internally with a lot of other currencies in one click.
Exodus also give control of private keys, they are  live 24/7 for customer support

It really depends on your usage. As mentioned above, myetherwallet is good for holding ETH and all associates (ERC20) tokens. Jaxx is pretty reliable too and can be used to with a lot of coins. It has shapeshift integration which is pretty neat. I don’t use any others so can’t comment on those.

I am using jaxx wallet for the long time I am really good to have eth, dash and bitcoin too. All the versions including android application are good to have coins. I am also using coinbase wallet which is good to have the btc, eth and ltc. That to seems secured since it contains two factor authefication.
myether is widely used by the altcoin users and you will be able to have the all the erc20 coins.

Having a multicoin wallet is lazyness. You are opening your money to risk. Even jaxx has a recent exploit loss of million dollars worth of eth.  Try the basics myetherwallet.com and bitcoin core.

I have been using Exodus and Coinomi multi asset wallet (for storing altcoins not listed in Exodus) for a long time now and so far I have never experienced any major problem and both are really reliable when it comes to security of my coins because I have the controls of my private key or recovery phrase. Both wallet also have built in exchange into the wallet and very easy to use with user friendly user interface. The only thing I don't like about Exodus is it's not open source while Coinomi is open souce that is why I use it most of the time and it supports lots of cryptocurrencies in the market and can manually add all Ethereum erc-20 tokens on its dApp.

Depends on which coins. I use MyEtherWallet + Exodus wallet that cover most of the coins I use.

Exodus is one of the best as is using almost same technology as HD wallets and including multiply coins. It is a desktop wallet which is even better than web wallets so you guys should give it a try. It supports major coins but not a lot of coins, you can check their road map in Exodus website to see what coins they will add next. Security is best here compared to web wallets that is why I vote for Exodus.

I don't know if this will pass through your qualification for a Multicoin wallet but have you tried using/checking hardware wallets that support different coins? For example, Trezor or Ledger. Both of them have the functionality to store different coins and I must say that they boast one of the top security measures when it comes to cryptocurrency. I personally used Ledger Nano S and it is superb for the purpose of its use. The only downside to this is that you need to pay for them and they are not cheap. If security is also a priority for your practice in cryptocurrency, checking them out might provide you some answers to your question.  ;)

I also use Coinomi, because it provides private keys, has an active support and two exchangers. Some aspects could be improved like order history , that is completely missing, or handling of ETH-tokens, but I don't know a better multicoin wallet with same features.

For me coinbase is not a wallet, but it is an exchange. Indeed you can use it as wallet as well but it is not recommended IMO. Other thing, you can only store few coins (btc, eth and ltc) if I'm not mistaken. On other hand, my ether wallet is just an ethereum wallet which support erc20 tokens only while OP is looking for multicoin wallet where he can use for more than just eth tokens.
I'm using exodus wallet at the moment, but I do not use really often.

Coinomi is closed-source, which is a dealbreaker for me. It's also only available as a mobile wallet (Android only).... and I generally don't trust mobile wallets. I used them to get my BTG, but that's about it.

None of the multi-coin wallets are great. Exodus and Jaxx offer desktop multi-coin wallets, but they have terrible security and privacy. No in-wallet encryption/sanity check before sending. Jaxx doesn't even have a password, just a 4-number pin. And I've heard the code is dodgy as well.

The best option at this point is to get a Ledger Nano or Trezor. They are integrating a lot of altcoins these days.

There are many wallets available for storing your cryto currencies and many types of wallets are available.
So you can choose your according to your storing amount.

But I suggest you hardware wallets are best to store cryotocurrency no one can steal your money from you and it also offers to store all coins.
The Ledger Nano is safe, relatively inexpensive, malware proof and cannot be hacked.  For those reasons,I think it is one of the best cryptocurrency wallets.

I guess you should try Jaxx, has a lot of coins and seems quite user friendly.
