Title: Is there a risk that the ICO that has already collected money will be hacked by
Post by: HelperAdvisorsLLP on November 24, 2017, 08:15:56 AM

Just look at the successful ICO and the credibility is undermined by the question of hacker attack. What do you think, is it possible?

There's always a risk of hacks, pretty much everywhere and for any coin.  Even major exchanges get hacked from time to time.  The risk is likely greater with ICOs as the teams typically don't have the experience in the crypto sphere that other people have.  For any ICO, make sure you learn about what kind of security they're using.  Even if it's good, I would look at any ICO as a very high-risk, speculative investment.

There are many such examples, such as coindash and ae, coindash was attacked while receiving some of the money from the ico, and ae was stolen from the wallet purse.

Yes of course. The successful ico will the next target of the hacker to get money from the project. If not success what will hacker get from the project? Nothing.
The risk of hacker is always be the top problem. Project need security to prevent it happen.

There's always a risk. For example, both Polkadot and Iconomi were affected by the November Parity Multisig Wallet fuckup and as a results both have some portions of funds collected during ICO locked in no longer usable smart contracts. They both lost tens of millions of dollars. For example this is Iconomi frozen multsig contract address https://etherscan.io/address/0x376c3E5547C68bC26240d8dcc6729fff665A4448 with locked balance of 114,939 Ether. Polkadot lost even more.

As already said: investment in ICO is already a big risk, in any case. No one gives a guarantee. We do not know what awaits us and which project will be successful, and what scam - no one knows.

Risk in the crypto currency market is always present. And ICO is not an exception. Hackers always deliver a lot of problems and undermine the reputation of many. Companies in which security at a high level are less exposed to risks.

The developer will lose their development's funds. but i'm not sure about you will still lose all of your money. but you can still to dump your asset in the market. Look at some project that has got stolen by the hacker due to the parity wallet bug. they are still continuing the development process.

Yes it is possible, we have seen some projects whose funds were hacked or stolen, this is online world bro anyone can get hacked, so the project needs multiple tiered secure wallets and vigilant team to keep the funds safe.

All site articles can be hacked. However, if a coin is good when hackers are hacked the development team will have a way to solve that problem when they have received money from investors through the sale of ico. On the contrary I would like to say that you have lost money.

Save yourself the stress of worrying over whether your coins you bought at ICO will be hacked by buying them instead at the exchanges whenever it goes live. Half of the time, the coin gets dumped on day 1 of going live and you can then buy it cheaper than the ICO price. That way, you do not get to lose if there's a hack during the ICO.

They can do that if they got enough money they will announce that they were hacked,no questions asked your investment is gone.

Of course it possible, but the possibility is much less than a hack attack during the crowdsale when hackers do a lot of phishing attempts with changed contract address.

It's possible, i was learning a lot from the various case in the scam ico and I think that icos got hacked (real) just only a little percentage. How the majority of scam icos come from the manipulation by the developer itself or it will be suitable to say they were all just like scammers.

Thats the way ICO developers can get out from the crime they committed,"we are hacked" scheme is too old but its effective no questions asked.

Where would the hacking occur? Only if one team member steals money or coins, Otherwise coins are safe in whatever wallet they have them stored. Every hacking attempted so far has something to do with someone from the inside, It is always inside job, ICO's are not keeping their coins on a public computer or would never give private keys to hackers.

If I'm not wrong, some projects lived this before. Some of them got hacked in their ethereum fund wallets in parity. Some of them lived thi during ico by the replacement of their ETH contract address by the hackers.
