Title: MSI AF Settings for the Zotac p106-100
Post by: r3lentleSs on November 24, 2017, 11:23:08 PM
I've just bought 3 rigs with total of 18 cards.
I'm looking for the most optimal hashrate/wattage settings in AF.

Anybody here that can share their settings?
Should these cards get biosmod aswell?

Thanks

The settings will depend on the coin you're mining. For ETH you want as high memory clock as possible while the core clock doesn't matter nearly as much. So it's usually possible to decrease the core clock and the core voltage quite significantly without losing much if any hashrate. For equihash algo you'll want to increase both the core clock and the memory clock, so sky is your limit — you'll have to figure out yourself how far you want to go based on thermals, electricity price etc. I think the core clock matters a bit more than the memclock for equihash. For some algos like skein the memclock doesn't matter at all so it's usually decreased to the max (-502 in MSI AB, -1000 in profile inspector).

And it's MSI AB, not AF.

Its for equihash algoritm.
I don't want to use more then 600w out of one rig.
And don't want the temperature to get more then 70C

But i don't know whats the optimal Power limit and core/memory clock.

No one does. :) Each gpu/batch overclocks differently, and your temps will depend not only on clocks and voltages you set, but on your ambient temperature and the fans' rpm. Plug a wattmeter into the outlet and start testing (if you don't have it, run ewbf miner with --pec flag, it won't account for the PSU efficiency as with a wattmeter, but still better than nothing). First find out what kind of memory is installed on your cards (run gpu-z), that will help to estimate the range of maximum overclocks (higher for Samsung chips, lower for Micron and lower still for Hynix). Then start increasing the clock under different voltages. Easiest way to control the voltage is through the power limit slider. Move it down to 80 for starters.

And no, these cards don't need a bios mod.

For equihash algorithm, this setting could fit your spec.:

power limit: 73%
core: +100
mem: +50
fan speed: 65% or you could make it auto with modified speed curve vs. temp.

Okay thanks i'll try all the above.
I'm going to do a fresh install of windows aswell. since the miner was ethereum based.
But i wonder where can i get the drivers for the zotac p106-106 cards ?

Ethereum based? No need to do a fresh install, you can switch mining either Equihash or ETH algo, just do the reboot.

download drivers on their site

Yes i know, but the hard drive is Legacy installed and the mobo installation has to be UEFI installed, and its filled with uselles crap the HD.
So going to do a freash UEFI installation.
But its the mining only zotac 106-100 card, so do i need to pick this one ?

Its the minercard without a displayport, but i guess its the same driver like the one with a displayport, i guess ?

Yep, and also you could make use of the driver on your previous OS, that should also work.

Until now as I know driver ver. 373.06 was the most stable one. So you may give a try.

Not sure, but is there a need to do everything again? If its already mining, then just point it to the different pool and it'll work.

You could check it in official Nvidia site, so here is a reference:
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/108324/en-us

P/S: Sorry this version is best for 1060 and 1070 but your GPU P106-106 is a new card, so it may be not applicable.

Okay, hmmm.
So best to download zotac driver for the display version card ?
On my other rigs, cards are using driver 382.43 but can't seem to find that one

I have to note, the cards i have are p106-100's but the front is made from Herculez.
It doesn't say Zotac, but it looks exactly like it.

I guess its the same drivers like for the normal 1060 ones?

I'm getting gpu restarts errors and error code 46 on 2 miners.
Any advice please ?

Does that happen when you overclock? Or are you getting the restarts and errors even with stock clocks?

Yes even with stock.
One miner it takes 5minutes and other one half An hour.
Third miner runs smooth.
