My over 5 year old account on bitcointalk was hacked. I already send pove with signed message with btc address on their PM but no response. Is there any other way to contact those two guys?

If you all follow the requirements here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 then all you can do is wait because I think it is a first come first serve basis, you are not the only one with that kind of problem and Cyrus was too busy to handle all of you, be patient even though it is frustrating.

If you already send PM to Cyrus and Theymos with all required information, you need to wait. If 2 weeks already passed, send another PM to Cyrus to remind about your problem. And if Cyrus don't respond, only then try to contact theymos.
I also recommend to start thread on Meta board (or move this one), maybe Cyrus will notice it while browsing threads on Meta.
And admins getting lot of messages about hacked accounts so, it can take more than 2 weeks to recover your account

I can see that my account is active again. How the hell I can get my account back? I already provided blockchain based proof that its mine. Can anyone help me?

One does not simply contact theymos and cyrus. They contact you.

If you post the signed message I can ban it but not restore it to you.

It takes too long because neither theymos or cyrus have the time to do them. An automated recovery system is apparently in the works but until that happens or theymos delegates this workload to someone else then people just aren't going to be getting their accounts back any time soon.

I think you have to exercise some patience, there are million of members in the forum, so you can imagine the kind of query theymos or cyrus will be getting on a daily basis for one problem or the other, So I believe they will attend to you once it gets to your turn. Just make sure you submit all the necessary evidence required then give them some time. Just be patience.....

I think administrators should hire an honest person who will deal directly with blocked accounts. My account has been locked for over 9 months and how many times I haven't been reminded of it, there is no solution. Also administrators need to develop the correct instruction - in which it will be painted in what cases the account will be restored, in which it will never be restored.
moderators can block, but they can't unlock. Administrators are busy in most of their time, they also need not only to monitor the server, but also to do other work.
I believe that with so many users on the forum they need this man, two administrators per million users is very small.

In two weeks there will be over one year since my first claim.

You need sign message from your stolen account address that being quoted.
Although the fact when people do sign message do not guarantee you will be recovered because as far as I can see, account recovery become low priority nowadays.

I already did it. I have solid proofs for my account. I am here from 2013 so I will no leave it like that

You are truly motivated to regain your account, I think it is a big shame that no one here can help you from 300+ days ??? in it instead of people who are just not interested in your issue.

Next to zero unless theymos or cyrus miraculously start to restore them or more staff are given access to do so. If that doesn't happen then they best you can hope for is the automatic recovery tool that theymos is (or was) working on that he said should hopefully be available by the end of the year. I still think more staff should be given access to restore them in the meantime though. Users unable to provide a signed message are still going to be left in the dark even when they can provide other proof that the account is rightfully theirs.

Welcome to the club, I have also been around since 2012 and was hacked 3 months ago.. I tried contact them by all my means. Conclusion is that they don't care unless you're a well known VIP. I even tried to reach @Cobra on twitter but he ignores me just like the other admins.
Keep this topic alive and send PM with your signed message every 15 days to @Cyrus and @Theymos, nothing else we can do unfortunately...  :'(

Do you have any more info regarding this automated recovery system ? A thread maybe ? I'd really love to have something to hold onto while I wait for a miracle.

My 2014 account has been hacked by a Theymos impersonator and is now being used to promote some shitty ICO, although in my case I might be able to buy it back from the hacker.

I've been hearing about this supposed automatic recovery account system for a while now, still no further news that I know of.

Theymos has been making some good moves with the forum, the latest addition being the custom passcode to bypass the catpcha, that was awesome. However account recovery should be #1 in priority list next.

I've been considering making a list with the most flagrant cases of people stuck in permaqueue to recover their accounts, I may do it if I find some free time.

Theymos has stated that it will hopefully be ready by the end of the year (hopefully being the keyword here). Maybe it will and maybe it won't but we can only wait until then to find out. I agree account restoration should be a priority and someone should have been given access to restore them in the meantime or at least until the tool is ready. I'm still not sure on how users who can't sign a message or can sign one but from an alt coin address will get their's back so that's still going to require some manual intervention which will need to be dealt with.

I don't think they will be able to recover their accounts without being able to sign a bitcoin address. As far as altcoin goes... if it's a big established altcoin with a blockchain that is reasonable to assume it hasn't been compromised (like litecoin) it could do, but I wouldn't trust one of these obscure altcoins as proof.

During registration there should be a warning sign that says you should create a bitcoin address for verification purposes may you need it in the future, otherwise people will not realize it is even a thing.

All you can do now is wait. Account recovery process is currently of low priority for forum administration. I know that it might not sound very much professional but they have got so much on their plates that you also need to understand their situation.

Forget it buddy, why focused on hacked account with lesser chance on recovering it? You heard already one of the MODZ so make a decision now. It is wiser to start again and be good in the forum. Do not fed up by your lost get up and move on. When a door closes you then better look another door. Who knows, you might get more than what you wish to get back.

Well, sometimes it's not about getting more than what you had. 

I happen to run a large crypto-luxury marketplace, and the very fact that someone happens to use my stolen account is a security threat to anyone in this forum that had or would be willing to do business with us.

As far as proofing ownership with bitcoin addresses, I'm a little bit confused. I had my Bitcoin address inserted in my signature before my account got stolen but obviously, the hacker deleted it.

Although I have countless proofs including message history to prove that I am the legit owner of this account, does Bitcointalk.org stores logs of previous signature modifications ?


Frankly, I have no idea, but at that point, I'd be ready to pay the current owner a couple of hundred bucks to give me my account back.

I eventually got mine back via lauda, vod, and a few others helped me.

It's a shame.

Just a shame the there is no 2 factor auth via email or phone. This would help a lot.

I don't recall saying that. Although surely those that have put the most effort in to the board should get priority. However I would think any honest member that has got hack should get their account back if possible.

Well, afaik the only known official method of recovering hacked accounts is by PM to Cyrus and Theymos until they manually check their logs and contact you with a reply. You're saying that Lauda, Vod and many others helped you recovering your compromised Legendary account even suggesting to the other legend victim to PM them also (instead of giving this same advice to any other of the plenty lower rank users that has also been hacked).
