Title: 1070 TI rig with nvOC - optimizing settings
Post by: ruepa on November 25, 2017, 07:16:22 PM
The main objective of this threat is to find the best settings for the 1070 ti on nvOC (should be similar for the 1070) in some of the most profitable coins to mine.
Zcash
ZenCash
Vertcoin
Ethereum

I'm going to start with zencash, that im mining at the moment, the rig is been working for the last 12hrs stable on this settings:
Powerlimit: 115wats
Core: 105
Memory: 1400
Fan: 85

I'm getting temperatures around 68oC to 72oC and getting a stable 475sol per card, with a efficiency around 4.2sol/W.

I would like some input on using pools that require username and password on nvOC, using zenmine.pro at the moment and not even sure if is well set up.

Everyone has their own definition of "best settings". For some it's the highest hashrate they can get out of the card without frying it, for others it's the highest hash/watt ratio, and for others still it's the lowest power consumption possible. You gotta define what you mean by "best settings" if you want other users to participate.

To clarify what the above poster said, the best settings depend on the coin you want to mine. Some coins have a coreclock intensive algorithm while some need more memory clock instead. Based on the coins you mentioned, here are is a quick summary of what you will be needing:

Zcash:more core, less memory
Zen: more core, less memory
Vertcoin: more core, less memory (i think..)
Ethash: less core, more memory

Also, don't forget to play with power limits. Less power, more profits.

Zen and ZCash use the same algorithm, so they should use the same settings.

For efficiency, 106 watts give or take a couple seems to be the most efficient point for that algorithm - aim for +200 core +700 memory, per the testing I've done on my EVGA SC 1070 ti cards.

I should have a Zotac Mini on hand Tuesday (long shot Monday) to see if it works well with the same settings.

(edit) Zotac mini arrived this morning, has gone for 8ish hours so far at the same settings no issues and same performance.

Those are settings on windows or in nvOC?

In nvOC i'm now running 175 clock and 1250 memory and all cards stable in the 480+ sols mark with spikes up to 495 sols. Temperature stable around the 70oC with a power limiti of 115W. Going to wait for a few days to se how stable it is and then will start to try and find optimal settings for vertcoin, i belive that zcash settings will not be to different from zencash.
