What is the difference between Bitcoin and Altcoins?  :-\

bitcoin is bitcoin. all the other coins are altcoins, hence "alternative cryptocurrency".

Bitcoin has been the first cryptocurrency that has ever existed, i dont think that you really need to ask this because it is not very difficult to understand.

And all the altcoins are not just copies of bitcoin, they all were ideas based on bitcoin, but with different modifications and for other kind of purposes.

ethereum is a crypto that has been created in order to create smart contracts and be a payment processor like bitcoin is too.

And the same happen with all the other cryptos like monero, litecoin, dash, with all the altcoins that are now listed on the market.

IMO 99% of altcoins are just attempt to make money for authors. Artificially inflated and over rated coins without any additional value, revolutionary idea etc. But there is few exceptions and I agree that all coins mentioned in your post are those exceptions.

I Think the same but if u bet on the right alcoin for whatever reason u can get a huge profit

Just look at Bitcoin as the main crypto-currency, and all other crypto-currencies are just alternate or options for you where you can invest your money. So, if you find bitcoin slowing down on its progress, you can still buy crypto-currencies and trade it on some major exchange, once you reach your target profits, you can reinvest it back to bitcoins together with all the profits you gained from trading. Just trade carefully, caveat!

in my opinion, bitcoin is the parent of the all coins in the cryptocurrency, while the altcoin is a coin alternative.

Now bitcoin is the most famous brand. And in the coming years it will be. Now only ETH is a competitor to BTC, but greatly inferior to him. ETH is the most well-known Altcoins.

Bitcoin is the original decentralized cryptocurrency. Altcoins are all the other cryptocurrencies that came late.

But not just copy paste (some with additional features),
Altcoin give us some option while bitcoin transfer fee is too high, espeacialy for me.
Ex, like Etherium, we can adhust fee (gas) transfer. more gas, more faster transfer.
Then, Universa is more promising cryptocurrency. that give the best feature : more 1000 tx pe second.
more faster than bitcoin and etherium.

I think that main differnce in the cryptografical algorithm underlying the cryptocurrency (the mechanism of validation the public and private keys). Of cource, all of them uses the principles of blockchain.

I understand the difference between Bitcoins and ALT coins, however how do Alt coins hold their value. What is the difference between the supply and demand of an altcoin whenever you can use Bitcoin for the same exact purpose. Does that not eliminate the purpose of all altcoin?

Bitcoin is a pioneer in the market, and altcoins are just an analog of it, yes they also have their value but much lower. In principle, this analogue is the future in the field of crypto-currency.

Ok, so which is more important or more secure in this business?  I see the pricing go up and down on both. BTC dropped over $1,500 in the past 24 hours.  How do you determine which will be more secure in the future.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency ever created and then later on other coins are created base on the technology use by bitcoin which is blockchain technology. First cryptocurrency was Ripple. XMR is probably the most secure.
BTC is the average one. Everyone says how great it is but it doesn't win any of the medals when compared against Altcoins.
