Title: Can we have a Finnish local board please?
Post by: o48o on November 26, 2017, 12:58:57 PM
Could there please be a Finnish local board since Finnish announcements are getting deleted from "other languages"
and Rules in Skandinavisk say that:

Quote
The reason that we use the strictest definition of Scandinavia and don't allow posts in Finnish or Icelandic is that we want all posts to be understandable by everyone

You have a local thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232519.0

But it's not that active at all so I don't think an entire board is necessary just yet. If you want your own sub board then start being active and promote the thread to people you know. Sadly, local boards are prime for abuse and because of the lax moderation they're usually more hassle than they're worth and are quickly abused by sig spammers and farmers in a multitude of ways once they realise they can get away with this.

So maybe you can make a finnish topic in the other languages sub forum, if it gets enough replies/posts mods will eventually make it a local board.

Isn't this your finnish board? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7319.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7319.0)

That's a thread, not a board.

Did you read the whole post or are you only correcting my mistake... If that topic is active you get a sub forum, but if you look there it's not very active. So when it's active you will get a finish board as stated by hilariousandco, quoted in my post

I was pointin out that it's not a board. So is he saying that Finnish anns/threads are forbidden everywhere in bitcointalk for the time being?

No it was a reply to another user who wanted a pakistanian sub board, however he said that if you would like to have a sub board the topic in other languages should be active enough for mods to consider making a sub board.

Yeah, i read that, and looks like that means that also Finnish anns are forbidden everywhere in bitcointalk for the time being. At least i don't see any place i could post them...

You can't make an Announcement/bounties thread inside of the thread. That would be just a mess after 2 announcements and bounties threads, or if you want people to find it or talk about it.

I think you should be allowed to post on the "other languages" board. Since it is part of "other languages", when there is no other specific category for you to post in.

You would think so, but nope. They are getting deleted without an explanation. Maybe i should post the moderator one more time.

There are many bounties I would like to take part to, but can't because I of course respect the forum rules. However, I think there should be some place to post announcements and bounties. It shouldn't be so that minority languages don't have the same rights (whoa, that ended up sounding like a discrimination speech, but you get the point).

You should really look at the board.

It is prohibited to create translated ICO threads for Local Languages that don't have their own sub boards. Due to abuse, it is also prohibited for users to create threads outside of their Local Thread. This sub forum is for those languages that don't have a local board to have their own thread to discuss bitcoin in; it is not a place for account farmers and spammers to easily abuse campaigns. If you post threads outside of your own local thread you will be banned.
Via hilariousandco's stickied thread: Do not create threads or post translated ICO Announcements in here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2589999)

It's for bitcoin discussion. Not shitcoins.
There doesn't seem to be much point given the traffic that the thread is getting, so why bother?

I'd only want some place to post the translated Finnish ICO announcement or bounties. Hurts to see a generous bounty where Finnish language is sought after, but one can not translate it here  :(

I suggest you to write to a moderator of a Local board. Finnish language can be called as seldom one, that's why there is no a special board, but I think with the raising interest from Finland to bitcoin and other crypto such board will definitely will be added on the forum.

That's weird. Why would an ICO want a Finnish announcement thread if there isn't even a board set up in the first place? Whether or not this is a catch-22 doesn't matter: if there isn't an intrinsic demand for such a board i.e. not to perpetuate ICO ANN threads (because that would be as pointless as teaching philosophy) then there shouldn't be one.

I don't know why they don't check it that we don't have an own board. Currently I'm only doing whitepaper, webpage and brochure translations to respect the rules. I'm also doing marketing, and I can tell that I have gotten many ICO investors aboard. However, it sucks that whitepaper translations are much more tedious to do than ANN and BNTY threads even though some campaigns provide as much coins/tokens for each... I bet that Finnish people have not been active getting their own board to bitcointalk because we have good forums in Finnish, but they would start using bitcointalk much more if we'd get the own board. Maybe we don't earn if we are not active, but yeah, it is stale to be a translator at the current state.
