Anything is possible tbh. Although 500k per BTC would require a ton of investment first. At some point people should realize that some altcoins offer a lot more than BTC...

I think it is possible to hit bitcoin around $5000000 in 2020

Bitcoin is very volatile so there are no such thing for bitcoin's price to be impossible though there are some limitations there. I think bitcoin reaching that huge price will be really something that people can never imagine.

And I think that time, bitcoin is accepted. not only accepted but used by most of the countries all around the world.

the price of s really reaches 500,000 US dollars, it means that BTC is accepted by more than 99% of the countries like gold in the world. Therefore, looking forward to seeing by 2020 whether BTC will be universal at that time Of the country, and more precious than the current diamonds.

If majority of the people would tend to accept bitcoin as way of their payment for their bills and other things, also majority would see the benefit of investing and the returns on bitcoin in might reached that level of price by 2020 or as early as that. Anything can happen in that period so we'll just have to wait and see the price movement of bitcoin by the end of the year before we jump onto our conclusion.

bitcoin is a bubble it will fail. it has 0 usability it has 0 scale. the sad thurth is the 10% who helds a ton of coins will sell with profit and the 90% will suffer and bitcoin is death :D

The way bitcoin increasing price day by day i am sure this is going to hit 50k in 2020.

That is a nonsense if I do not want to say it is illusory, although no one is dreaming taxes but I think the numbers should be feasible.

If bitcoin will be use by majority of the people around the world and NO ONE will ban bitcoin, then there is a chance that it will go high but not at that price. For me I think that is too high to reach. It will need many many investors to reach that price.

I think that projection is too high.  As bitcoin is so volatile and has limitations, the current performance is something we in the community should be happy.  Just hold some btc and hope for the best.

If BTC price will be 500k, then BTC capitalization should be be 10 500 000 000 000 $  :o (21mln BTC * price)
But a lot of BTC are/will be lost. ~12 mln BTC will be available in future. It`s just my opinion.

by that time we must have seen different fork of bitcoin like bitcoin silver, bitcoin diamond, bitcoin bronze and bitcoin transition elements ;D. well i hope bitcoin is sustained before that time because the coin is already creating alot of headaches for haters and they will be looking for way to shut it down. which means internet will also be shutdown as well. 2020 is 3 year from now. if it takes bitcoin to reach almost $10k in 8 years i do not think the coin will reach $500,000 by 2020. the person that wrote the article is taking a leap of faith.

with the rate that bitcoin is going, i think it is possible to hit $500000 in 2020. Remember that in 1yr, bitcoin has done x12, imagine it does that for the next 3years. Also remember that more and more people know about bitcoin everyday.

Nah that's insane! Even $100k in 3 years would an outstanding performance.
On the other hand we've never seen something like that before and high price levels may be possible, at least for a short amount of time. I expect definitely a 6-12 months bear phase within the next 3 years. So no price rise, just retracing and consolidation during that period, whatever the top of the actual run will be. Therefore $500k is very unlikely to happen imo. But this price level is possible! Just not in that very short timeframe of 3 years.

That is a very large nominal and it seems unlikely to happen. It is not a rational nominal because the price is too high it seems impossible to happen. I might just be speculating that Bitcoin's price will increase 100% annually, Bitcoin's price has reached 10,000USD and it is likely that Bitcoin's price will reach 30,000USD by the end of 2020. Bitcoin is very difficult to predict, but I still believe the rates are optional which is very possible to happen.

maybe if the demand of bitcoin increasing and still increasing maybe the price of bitcoin will rising up to, so makes bitcoin popular and bitcoin price will high too, i dont know about the future about bitcoin but i think that bitcoin is the great digital currencies right now

I think this will soon come to fruition because of the increasing demand for Bitcoin and we will see the great development of Bitcoin. In the future people should save Bitcoin more because Bitcoin will be the best investment in the future

Its possible because when I see this big interest of people about bitcoin it's not impossible to reach to this price.

if I see from the current market price that keeps increasing from day to day then I have the conclusion that it will happen in 2020, but it is only opinion which not necessarily truth. so we should still see and accept what will happen next.

It is a bit possible but only a small probability for that to happen. But a lot of new investment is needed in order to bring the price that high.

I don't really think so. Bitcoin would be really expensive if it will be priced at 500000 USD. So I think it won't happen within just three years since we all know that bitcoin is volatile so there'll be interuptions on the increase of its market value that will make it hard for Bitcoin's price to grow that much in a short period of time.

Wow! Thats Like 25M in our country and I can Buy a mansion, some sports car, and Girls(maybe). But to think of it that at year 2020, the value of bitcoin would reach this numbers is really possible, as of now it is Increasing still, and ITs very volatile. Its true that its impossible in some parts, but there is no shame on Hoping for the Best and there are ways for it to reach that value.

Insane is the best word describing bitcoin. Didn't you see bitcoin was $850 in march 2017 and it became $10,000 in november 2017?

I was sceptical about the growth of Bitcoin in 6 digits especially in the next 3 to 5 years but considering the recent rapid boost and world's positive response to Bitcoin, I think at least $100,000 is definitely possible if there is no legal negative move from the governments around the world. The utility value of Bitcoin is increasing day by day and we will start using it to pay for actual goods and services without converting it into fiat currencies and speculation activities will reduce according to the fall in price volatility.

We can not accurately estimate the Bitcoin price from year to year. Because money is on the internet because the virtual currency is not issued by the central bank, which I know I just follow the price up and down on every month.

Your expectation on bitcoin will be possible not as soon as you expected to done in the chart. If there upcoming adoption rate high numbers we can expect the bitcoin to find the bumps more and more like how we see in this year.
You might noticed the time when the China and korean government banned the bitcoin. We found the bitcoin price dumped and it takes around 1 or 2 months recover from that issue. Please wait around 8 to 10 years to find the expected price and almost all the people will accept bitcoin legally to purchase the products.

we don't know what exactly the price of bitcoin in 2020 its hard to predict, $500,000 that's so far to reach that price I don't think year 2020 will hit that price but maybe around $20,000 to $50,000.

In one year the price rose with 800% {that is a BIG achievement} Let's say this will happen for the next 3 years until 2020.... then we will have a

price of $72 000 for 2018 and $576 000 for year 2019 and finally $4 608 000 for year 2020. This is not achievable at all at the current growth

Anything is possible in those crypto markets. But 500k doesnt sound possible to me. I would never bet on such a huge rise, but maybe Im too pessimistic, I would also never have thought that we could touch 10k by the end of this year, so...

I think $500.000 for 3 years is too high,I not really sure bitcoin can reach $500.000.. but if bitcoin can reach until $500k, I must become a successful person because of bitcoin..

Although bitcoin is the most valuable and best known digital currency, its impossible to reach $500,000 within 3 years. 

no one can predict what will happen in the future. But it is fact that the total market cap of crypto is very, very low compared to fiat money. Therefore we can say for sure that the price will rise but no one can say if we will ever reach 500k.

If that's the price of bitcoin, I will retire early as possible.. All alts will pump also. The world will be rich and economy will getting better for each nation.

Bitcoin appears to be unstoppable at the moment which is very nice, but even nicer is the fact that it seems to be pulling alts along with it nicely indeed.  $500K in 3 years seems to me like a long shot but then again, who knows what tomorrow holds, let alone 3 years time.  If it were to be that high though, even with my 0.something BTC, I would be a happy chap indeed.  Might just buy a mini or something.

The thing with extrapolation is that if you keep on you end up with pretty funny results...
You've got 4 mils by 2020, but why stop there? By 2030 one coin would be worth ~ 4000 trillion sand and 4 septillions  by 2040 :)

I care about bitcoin reaching 10K but I do not want to think about bitcoin reaching 500K NOW. There are lots of stages before I even consider that to happen. Let us focus first on what is on hand. After bitcoin move past 10K, what are the problems inherit with a high price. Once all the problems are solved, then move to the next ATH. I will think of bitcoin at 500K when we are at 450K and not before that.

Now that's too much. The price of Bitcoin reaches $10,000 easily but that doesn't mean that Bitcoin's price will reach $500,000 by year 2020. That's too overpriced. That price may be just a fantasy for us. It is so difficult to predict the price of Bitcoin. Its value will still increase but I don't think it can reach that huge value.

There is a chance that this could be happening, but also, I don't like seeing pie in the sky numbers like this. It begins to make me worry about the short term health of the market. Big time.

It is really amazing news for all bitcoin lovers . this news will come true definitely. Already it hoits $9500 in 2017 . so it can be true that hits $500000 in next some years . but 2020 may be small time it can take some more years I think.

500K is very large amount.But if see current trend 500K value is possible. According to my opinion value of bit coin value will fall to 6K in near future after then it will rise.

I can see it reaching maybe 100k if there is over a trillion dollar market cap coming into Bitcoin and altcoins which would make BITCOIN go up ten times from today's price but I cannot see it going much more than that. Okay good read from the xapo. To be honest to reach the market of 500K USD per bitcoin it seems little deceptive because of the one and many facts that are related to bitcoin and its acceptance in the world. Bitcoin as we see today is all grown because of the investors who were investing into blindly some 7 years ago and they became the richer. However, in todays date we have crypto people who are just fluctuating the market to get the quickest profits form those artificial pumps. Bitcoin is growing naturally no matter about that but when people see some good reason to sell high then they will do it predominantly leading to down ward movement of the bitcoin.


So this is restarting factor one to make bitcoin that much worth by 2020. Im not saying that its completely impossible but not possible that faster. Apart from that it will need huge market capitalism to have that much sufficiency of delivering the price equal to 500K USD.

To be honest, I think we don't even need legal status to operate with a growth as we have seen above 100,000% growth without it over the years so it's not that much difficult. However, any negative move/action from the governments can ruin the growth and reputation of it. Even, I was expecting the larger time span for this figure but since the things are changing rapidly, I think 6 figure milestone will be there soon as we have actually started using Bitcoins for other than speculation activities.

Nothing is impossible when it comes to bitcoin, price could go down or up depending on the adaptability of the people. If people could see it as an investment for long term, $500k by 2020 is possible. One of the purpose of bitcoin is having a savings account or wallet without even going personally to the bank - If only bitcoin's technology and main purpose is being advertised and not the negativity and scam accusations being spread all over the news, bitcoin will rise to the moon by 2020. But, of course, there will always be negative news regarding bitcoin and it is all part of the market's cycle.

I think that before a x50 in BTC price we will see x100-x1000 in a lot of alts. So I tend to prefer alts on a relative basis. The further you get into bitcoin the more you see that a lot of alternative blockchains are more fast, cheap and scalable.

With bitcoin, anything is possible. Looking at the current value, I personally think that bitcoin has the potential of reaching that value or even more, but probably within a period of five years or more. Reaching $500k within three years is a bit too little time, I personally think that your speculations might happen within a period of five years or even more. We are all aware that the market is so vlolatile but since the beginning of this year, the value of bitcoin has been increasing significantly, and this further proved that it has the potential of reaching that value.

Wow thats big number on my screen guys. My laptop can't hold that much price and I think that the blockchain will not either. ;-) Well, the bitcoin is being now thought as way beyond the current market capitalism. What I think is very simple, we should just focus on the bitcoin prices upto 20K by next year and expect some good use of it as currency in real world. Once that development is achieved we can really go for the next and in the process we will earn many investors to invest the money over bitcoin or blockchain. Thus, it will give the bitcoin more market cap and we will achieve targets like 20K or 50K real soon.

The 500,000 is like whole lot of money to be digested in the first place and I'm not so fond of it at this movement. The speculation should also be done wisely.

The money pouring in is from huge hedge funds with billions of $$$. Once they buy in, its gonna take some real world mass adoption to go higher.

All of us wanted to be rich also are expecting and hoping for bitcoin to get a good price in the future so we can have our own early retirement. I find the current price of bitcoin as something that is acceptable and too high already.

But bitcoin seems to be unstoppable and there are people that are keep on asking for bitcoin to rich for another increase.

As long as the demand is getting higher there's no one can stop bitcoin for reaching new ATH's and I don't want to miss those moments so I'll keep on holding.

This is too much for a speculation because the price of $500,000 is not possible because we only have more than 2 years and it is not even enough to push the price of bitcoin to reach $100,000 so why would we expect some huge price like $500,000 by 2020. We need to lower our expectations to some realistic price.

But those who are investing and speculating with bitcoin are not the technology experts or developers. The big investors and international investment funds are not interested in the issues of scalability, high fees or the convenience of bitcoin to buy cigarettes or coca cola. They care about investing in the most popular asset, which has shown consistent performance over the years, and that can only be offered by bitcoin, that's why every day more speculative capital will enter the market and bitcoin could arrive to $100K even next year despite its great limitations.

I think todays price has now really put it up in the air and some people are actually believing it. Bitcoin doubled earlier this year and people were calling for a correction but since then it's just continued to break records.

Capitalization is growing at a frantic pace, now growing bitcoin, it will continue to flow into altcoins. All this only shows that people are starting to take the world of cryptocurrency!

Bitcoin is almost 10K now, I didn't think it would go that fast. I thought Bitcoin would hit 10K at the end of the year. So, that's much faster and 15 to 20K is really possible next year. But 500K, I don't think that will happen in 2020. Even though the demand for Bitcoin is growing day by day. It could be possible that futures will slow down the uptrend and stabilize the price.

I would say : it's as possible as impossible for this surprising currency ; I remember when the community discussed about the 5k $ barrier few months ago , and look at its current price ( near to 10k) . We should also take in consideration the different factors that can influence the price ( the supply, demands, forks...etc ) , I also remember that I read an article ( on Quora forum) saying BTC reaches 100k by 2020 . 500 000$ may be exagerated a bit, but consider I was thinking about two years ago that the price of one Bitcoin would be 5000$ by 2025, I frankly do think nothing is impossible in this crazy world.

I saw an article once where some finance guy explained that with the limited amount of BTC available, 1 BTC could reach between 1 and 3 bln if 10% of the global fiat currency value was represented in BTC.

500k means 50 time increase at the current price. I am really not sure about it, I believe 100k is highly possible, but you cannot under estimate the power of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the biggest money market now. It all started like a mirage and now it's the biggest thing.I knew about bitcoin in December 2016 then it was about $700 and now it is over $8k. That is over 1100% within 10 - 11 months, It's really massive. So no doubt that by 2020, it will be about $500,000 per bitcoin. Which means that we can still buy now before it turns the biggest digital currency in the entire world.

I think it's an exaggerated number. Bitcoin marketcap will be 8,352,562,500,000$ and price will be multiplied by over than x50.
2020 is too close and bitcoin can't reach this marketcap only in 2 or 3 years.

Altcoins might offer different solution compared to Bitcoin, but Bitcoin is the coin, where the general public interest is focused - slight crisis on the stock market or real estate market will send Bitcoin to the stars, I believe it is with no doubt possible Bitcoin will hit 400-500k USD by 2020. I will try to stock some more BTCs while they are available at good price. We will definitely hit 10k USD this year.

when it was a september I thougt   that in winter(december) it would be a big correction. But now i change my opinion. Bitcoin shows to us an enormous rising. And he dont want to stop. There is no way it reaches that high by the end of 2020.  I will be surprised if it its worth 50k at that time.  I think we are going to see it become steady for a few years and then boom it will eventually jump up a little bit again...50k is much more reasonable, and still not that probable.

it's quite possible ... seeing bitcoin price movements and more and more people knowing about bitcoin. as well as the amount of bitcoin available, can make more bitcoin demand and lead to more expensive bitcoin. but maybe, it takes time, if within 3 years I think it can be up to $ 100k, but probably not yet up to $ 500k ... but nothing impossible in the cryptoworld.

I dont think it can go up to that price soon. Maybe $200,000 is the suitable number.

This is possible but too early for that to happen in 2020 because if the price of bitcoin will continue to become expensive to purchase, the more investors will shift to cheapest alternative specially majority of the investors are small time investors in which they cant afford to buy expensive bitcoin value. It seems too good to be true to reach that amount. Even the price of almost $10,000 per coin is overwhelming how much more the $500,000 per coin. Bitcoin is continuously attracting many people because of its record breaking prices and returns to investors and if the demand will continue then it may reach that amount. Though it is decentralized, the government will still do something about it because it can affect the financial status of a country may it be good or bad if the price continuously rise and it would depend then on the policies or regulations they will implement of what the future of cryptocurrencies will be.

I don't think bitcoin will reach $500,000. Even if bitcoin is getting higher and higher. It is imposible to reach that value it is too high.

I believe bitcoin has the potential to go anywhere. Look what it has done already and he far it has come. Almost at $10000 right now s 20x more isn't far fetched especially when it's still 8 years away. We have much to look forward to. Early adopters will enjoy a oavish lifestyle fit for a king. So buy bitcoin now while it's cheap because it can only go up.

$30 - $50 is possible but $500k is just a lame joke. Its market cap would be in trillions and that's not possible. No one knows yet who's behind this coin, no one knows about satoshi yet who is he and where he lives.

It may too high for 2020 but add some more years and bitcoin can possible get up to at that rate. 3 years from now there will be a lot of things that can happen but that's too much if we speculate that by that year bitcoin will be 2020. I'm a bitcoin believer but getting serious with these predictions low chance of seeing it but I'm also thinking about those past predictions that we never expected to happen.

I don't know, i'm only saying the price is possible to see if it reach the level I'm waiting. Like before, I said if the price will hit $5k, then $10k is possible, if it reach again which is already hitted, $20k is possible, if that happen again $50k is possible imo and so on. That is how I speculate wether it is possible or not until it reaches certain level. I'm not jumping into a bigger price.

Don't you think 500,000$ per bitcoin is too big the amount and its seems unrealistic to happen in 2020. The only target which i think can be achieved is 100000$ per bitcoin and if this happens in 2020, it will be more sort of a miracle. Things went well in 2017 for bitcoins and now we have to make more growth in 2018 to be able to achieve this high target.

I think this is possible - because in 2020, $500K is probably worth quite a lot less than today's $500K because most likely we will be experiencing a big economic recession where fiat currency is collapsing against real assets!

I personally feel that it might be too early for.that mark but at the same time looking at the volatility of bitcoin and unexpected price pump I feel anything is possible but it is like a double edged sward one hand we have to deal with banker and regulatory and on the other hand we have other altcoins wh8ch might give tough competition to bitcoin and probably people might prefer other alts which might reduce the demand of bitcoin and lead to reduction in value

If Btc keep this rising growth rate (10x/year) in 2018 and half rate in 2019, the price of BTC with be over 500k/BTC for sure, as the price of BTC by end of 2017 will be at least 14k.
Early this year, if anyone said the price of BTC by end of 2017 would be 13k, all people in this forum would say that he is insane or crazy!!! The most optimistic would say it would be 1.5k-3k at most. So we never know what will the price of BTC will be in the future. NO ONE know. NO ONE can speculate exactly. In my opinion, the growth speed of BTC in 2018 will be 13x-15x by year end (150k-180k by 2018 year end).

Ya won't agree this.The price of bitcoin is keeps on raising,due to their increase of potential.But 500,000 is very high value to reach in 2020.If any double raise of price occur means,even this may happen.

as of now we cannot predict if there's a chance that bitcoin valued  can touch down that value in year of 2020.  Causes we all know bitcoin always fluctuated which is there's a chance that the growth rate of bitcoin will collapse and there's a possibilities also to surge until 2020 .. Unless there's no issues that can made a panic selling .Maybe there's a chance that bitcoin valued will rocketed in 2020 but i think not much.

Bitcoin will never be $500.000. Not in a hundred years and certainly not in 2 years. The hugh price rise is a pump from the small number of people who own the largest amount of bitcoins. People who are afraid to miss out buy like crazy, thus fulfilling the intention of this small group. But now with bitcoin futures the incredible upswing is over.

I would not be surprised at the rate at which bitcoin is going, so I will definitely leave room for any surprise it may bring in coming years. Yup definitely, the pace at which it is currently moving its not seems to be tough to hit that milestone value. But to be practical 3 years is a way long time, so its kind off impossible to take a guarantee of the value being hitting on that year. But as per the recent news, probably $100,000 is not far away for sure.

Bitcoin doesn't depend on that. Sure, it will help pushing Bitcoin forwards even more, but it will just be one of the contributing factors. If we look at how the market responds to the adoption that's picking up slowly but surely, where even institutions are showing high interest in Bitcoin, it's just a matter of time before we demolish the $100,000 level. Also, I do believe that we're not far away from seeing smaller nominations pushing out the BTC nomination. If really bitcoin manages to takes place of fiat in term of currency (i.e. people use it as a currency to buy goods and services, and not only as an asset), then bitcoin price will raise to 500k$ in the next few years (maybe not 2020 however) for two reasons :
1) bitcoin is taking value
2) fiat are losing value

Some altcoins offer different functionality than bitcoin but there are not many, so while the chances bitcoin reaches that amount of money by 2020 are very low I still think people are going to concentrate most of their money and efforts in bitcoin for a very long time only when bitcoin is more established in the mind of the people we are going to see altcoins finally develop and being adopted as well.

There are so many speculations that are coming out. Whether bitcoin can reach $500,000 or something. I think even if bitcoin will not reach that price. It is ok with us as long as it will not loose its value. Because anything can happen in the future.

No doubt, the only problem with bitcoin currently is the higher transaction fee and very slow transaction speed. Once these issues are fixed bitcoin will continue its journey from where it stopped. And bitcoin Lightning Network is about to solve the bitcoin transaction problems because it will speed up the bitcoin transaction speed with zero transaction fee. Once the lightning network is fully implemented bitcoin is going back to the track to retain it title, the king of cryptocurrencies.

If you don't think that bitcoin will make at $500,000 on 2020 then you are not the only who thinks this but we can't also speculate that it's impossible to happen. There are speculations before that doesn't even bother to predict that on 2017 bitcoin will reach $5,000 or $10,000 or even $15,000 - $19,000 but it did happened so if there will be surprises for this year we might see some good signs.

Correction, Bitcoin's market cap dominance. Let me tell you something, it will keep dropping as long as altcoins get pumped while Bitcoin remains relatively stagnant within a certain range. People act like it's Bitcoin losing here, but it's just a normal reaction of the market. Money flows into that what is moving. In other words, altcoins are in the spotlights right now, which is why they are growing in market cap. Once Bitcoin is moving again, altcoins will start getting dumped to the ground, like what happened last year when Bitcoin was pumping.

Yes once bitcoin will pump this month altcoin will starting to fall down its price. I think bitcoin price will soaring high this year, although we cannot predict the exact price of it. It happen that bitcoin starting to fall its price but I believe it will rise again. So there is a possibility it will hit at that amount.

That is a misunderstanding, when bitcoin pumps high surely altcoins too will increase. As the price has been fluctuating high from the beginning of the year, people were into panic whether the price will grow high or not. We can't buy on this speculation that bitcoin is possibly to go up at $500,000 on 2020 but who knows if that happens there will be too many people that are rich enough by that time. And the guy who told this before is John McAfee but that was changed now to $1M by that year.

We've been through this "big test" since the year end of 2017 but bitcoin has surpassed and there are still more to come. Bitcoin has been treated like the new modern gold and we are storing value with it. I know many are quite disappointed on what's happening to bitcoin. With it's current situation, I can sense that it was like last year that early of January 2017, movement isn't quick but after a couple of months it skyrocketed.

Exactly, even bitcoin didn't reach that amount by 2020 it's okay unless it will lose his value because like what everyone said, bitcoin was depend on his value by investing or buying more bitcoin. This is important to keep in mind, because not too long ago in 2017 the price of 1BTC was around 1-2k, and for it to have gone up to almost 20k so quickly was a big change and it happened so fast. The way bitcoin was growing then I think were should be able to said bitcoin should hit that value that is $500,000 by that 2020. Currently bitcoin is a bit very stable and we are seeing this based on the current happened in the market.  I wish I should be able to see bitcoin above my purchase level in January 2018.

I doubt if this speculation would come true with current trend right now. Bitcoin is having a hard time breaking the $10K resistance due to whales trying to cash out whenever bitcoin hit the $9K to $10K value. But still many speculators remain bullish that bitcoin may reach $25K at the end of the year.
