Regardless of what you choose try to stay away from Coinbase. I personally use Electrum, and a lot of people have agreed that it's one of the better wallets out there -- they've supported the major forks (to an extent at least with electrum cash), but Coinbase is just too steep with the fees. Try to avoid that because it gets in the way with trying to exchange crypto into fiat.

I personally use Coinbase, I know the guy above me said don't use it, but I have never had any problems with them and all the transaction fees haven't been an issue for me as I usually only receive Bitcoin and don't send it a lot.   I like Coinbase cause they are at least backed by something..

Coinbase is just too steep with the fees. Try to avoid that because it gets in the way with trying to exchange crypto into fiat.

Why do you say this? When it comes to exchanges they really look like one of the most secure to me. Poloniex looks decent to, and if you have problems with fees at coinbase, you could always try to use Gdax. It belongs to coinbase as well, but at least you can trade your coins to fiat, so you can't really complain about fees here, because it's all about the price you manage to get. Also, they only charge 15cent or something like that for a bank withdrawal, and right now I think it's hard to compete with that.

Anyway as for ways to secure your bitcoins, and although I like coinbase, I would recommend you to keep your coins at a hard wallet (trezor or ledger), or at least in desktop wallet like electrum. For me these are the most secure options for holding, since they are reliable and you have your private keys, and that does not happen on an exchange.

The standard wallet would be the best if you haven't experienced Hardware Wallet. Wallet with two-factor authentication means you get more security plus with the 2fa. If you have old Bitcoin addresses then the best choice is Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys. I didn't quite know about the Multi-Signature Wallet. Maybe you can try to read Electrum Docs to learn basic about Electrum: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/ (http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/)

Well the best wallet to put all of your bitcoin is in blockchain. Probably it is so secured and also find wallet where you have 2fa and private key. Having priv key and 2fa makes your btc and your wallet secured.

blockchain is the system that bitcoin uses, you need to read more about it because it seems that you're lack of information, also if you means blockchain.info wallet, it's unsecured
and can be hacked easily, better store it in offline wallet.

Here our country we used coins.ph wallet it is safe wallet with 2fa and we have our own private key and personal mobile number authentication, so it possible to hack unless they know your private key. Also coinbase wallet so far I don't have heard any trouble with that wallet. To more secure of your bitcoin also used hardisk wallet or offline wallet that is very safe. Don't put all your eggs in a one basket.

I highly recommend a hardware wallet mate. Just use a ledger and keep an eye on the amazon.co.uk offers, sometimes the price could be lower than ordering from ledger directly.

For now as I know the best wallet to store Bitcoin is coldstorage wallet like Trezor or ledger nano s which you can control your private key and nobody can stole your Bitcoin when you're not connect the USB stick with your computer and click the button on the USB stick.

i use coinbase for buying bitcoin with fiat, a direct transfer
from my linked bank account attracts zero fees, transfer to
gdax and to a different bitcoin wallet attracts zero fees.

coinbase is an excellent facility but i dont store bitcoin there.

There are 3 wallets I use, coinomi on my mobile phone wallet,
exodus and electrum on my desktop. I have control of all my
wallets and the private keys. its much safer than storing
them long term online.

That is your wallet address. Not the wallet you hold daily. It is only 1 address and is validated by all computers around the globe. Only if you have the wallet address and password of that wallet will you be able to log in

There are many bitcoin wallets nowadays, my suggestion is to use bitcoin wallet that you owned your own private key, like coinomi and jaxx. Owning of your private key is much safer and have large security.

If the amount you bought is big enough then the best wallets are hardware wallets, those are very secure and practical, now if you do not want to spend money in a hardware wallet there are many other options but which one is the best depends entirely on you needs, there are paper wallets, online wallets, wallets in cold storage and more.

Offline wallets are something where the secret key is not shared with anyone (only if such wallet is generated in a safe environment and trusted source). The cheapest way to an offline wallet is to finding an old computer and generating a paper wallet through that machine (and that machine should never establish a connection to internet or devices such as a printer that connects to the internet). There are some other ways too but this is the one which I trust the most for the paper wallet.

Previously I used blockchain to keep bitcoin, it worked very well, most of my friends are using blockchain. After this, when I knew about coinbase wallet , I also used coinbase  , I found coinbase activity is also very good, no problem what happened. Now, I'm using both blockchain and coinbase, I split my bitcoin into 2 wallets to avoid having bad problems .

Besides the fact that leaving your money in an exchange is always a bad idea we never know what may happen, now that the IRS has won the legal battle against coinbase I will not be surprised if in the future the IRS took control of their servers and you lose your money if you do not cooperate with them.

There are lots of Bitcoin wallet that you can use to store your Bitcoin just make sure that you'll have control with your private key because private key will help you in the future for some matters especially getting free coins from FORKS. But if you can't choose in any of those i prefer electrum wallet you can send to many addresses, easy to install and you have access with your private key.

For me the best wallet will depend on the place where you live like in my country which is Philippines I think coins.ph is a good wallet aside from the fact that it is safe it also offers a lot of services and the good  thing is that it doesn't have transaction fee. But if you are planning to hold your bitcoin for a long period of time you can have the paper wallet or also known as offline wallet.

If you want a wallet that has a high level of security then I suggest to use Wallet that has private key feature, it will help you if you have a problem someday your wallet. I suggest to use Electrum because the wallet is offline and can be stored on the computer. But if you want a wallet that can be used anytime to support mobility then blockchain is the wisest choice.

Same here, I used myethereum wallet and coins.ph too. Having this two makes me comfortable and easier to use, especially coins.ph having many features that only intended here in my country which can pay via online transactions like paying electric bill, water bill and insurance establishments. I know there are several kind of wallet that can store bitcoin as long as can be trusted, good service and high quality of security.

Hardware wallets are the best ones in my opinion. They never expose your privates keys to the computer so you can use your hardware wallet even on an infected PC (assuming that your wallet has a screen which will allow you to check if the receiving address hasn't changed). Paper wallets are also a good choice but you would have to create a separate one for each cryptocurrency. Most of the hardware wallets allow you to store multiple cryptocurrencies.

Yes, Coinbase is a good bitcoin and litecoin wallet that many people are using more especially if you are from U.S and U.K.
But if you want to save your bitcoin in the most secure way away from hackers or anyone, you might try offline wallet such as Ledger or Trezor wallet.

I can't say much about ledger. I use Trezor and can 100% recommend it. It's a beautiful piece of hardware. Well designed with an engineer feel to it. You can use it safely with any android phone with, for example, Mycelium wallet app, and make transactions wherever you are. On the software side, Trezor is outstanding as well. They provided bitcoin cash splitting tool very fast. They were first to implement segwit address support. Tremendous. Plus, any potential bugs reported by the community are fixed quickly. I couldn't be happier with this device.

There are different types of wallets that is desktop, mobile, online, hardware and paper wallets.Desktop wallet may not be practical and confusing.Mobile wallets keeps only a small amount of bitcoins.Online wallets are easier and faster but hackers can steal bitcoins .Hardware wallet are user friendly it gives complete control for the users itself. Paper wallets if lost we cannot recover it.

The best wallet to store Bitcoin is coldstorage wallet like trezor or ledger nano s. It's the safest wallet to keep you Bitcoin, nobody can steal you Bitcoin inside this wallet. But it'll be bad if you lose the wallet USB stick. LOL. Beside the price of this wallet is a little bit high, about more than 100$ for each one so if you don't want to spend this much money to buy a coldstorage wallet I think you can use Electrum wallet, it's also a good one, very secure and totally free.

Easiest way to securely store bitcoins, easy to backup and secure, less margin for error, setup is easy even for less technical users.

Try Blockchain Wallet, in my experience, blockchain wallet is the best wallet so far with more transaction speed. you don't have to wait long enough for your bitcoin transactions. Although, it does not provide the facility to covert your bitcoins into flat money. But it has more information on bitcoin price fluctuation.

You could use Electrum wallet.I had been using it for the past two years and its very user friendly.Bitcoins remain secured in it.We could set the transaction fee too manually in this wallet.

But it should be downloaded from the official website Electrum.org instead of fake websites.Otherwise, our bitcoins could get compromised.

If you want to store only bitcoin, you have multiple choices but the most secure it's to have a hard disk wallet (downloading a hard wallet on your computer), but in case of crashdown of the value of bitcoin, you can't do anything...quickly.
So it depends to you if you want to Trade fast your bitcoin, you have to keep it on an exchange (Bitfinex the best for me)!

Hope i ve been helpful  ;)

I second that suggestion but many aren't ready to invest in to hardware wallets just yet and so are often ;left with online wallet options but if one is really serious about the safety of his/her bitcoins  then its best to go the extra mile and invest in a hardware wallet.

The best wallet to store your bitcoin and other coins would be those hardware wallets like Trezor or Ledger Nano, just pick which of these hardware wallets you think best suit your needs. Or if you cam't afford yet these wallets you can just use offline wallets you can download on your laptop too.

There's always the option of using a hard wallet if you want to keep them more secure. Just don't do what this guy did - http://bitcoin-bug.com/2017/11/29/1323/

If you want to keep your bitcoin and altcoin safe and secure you must put it in a safe place where no can find it or stealth it. In addition to that, you put your bitcoin or altcoin in online or offline wallet and you must put 2fa to make it more secure and do not ever share you password and private key.

If you are aiming for long term and withdraw your investment to at least 5-10 years from now, I highly suggest that you store your coins in a hardware wallet like ledger nano S or trezor. In this way, you won't be able to easily withdraw your investment and keep it for the future.

For me the best wallet to store bitcoin is Blockchain because it's easy to use and your bitcoin is hard to steal another person.
The wallet of blockchain.info is convenient but it is not the best, if you are holding a some dollars there to spend just in case you like something that is fine, but to keep a big amount of money is a mistake, I remember using it sometime ago and there were days in which I could not login into my account since the site was so slow.

It doesn't matter where you stay because ideally, you should not keep your funds in any online wallet/exchange. Even if you are enabling all the security features for your profile, there is a risk of compromisation of the database on the server side so make sure you are holding your funds in a reputed hardware wallet such as trezor or in a securely generated paper wallet. Also, maintain backup copies of private keys/seeds in order to reduce the risk.

Hello i have recently bought some bitcoin and litecoin and was wandering what wallet or method is the best to store it in. (From the UK if that helps)

Thanks.

Hi there anonszs! I just wondering how you bought bitcoin and litecoin without having a wallet. Anyway, based from my experience I use coinbase, I’m not connected or paid to endorse them but it seems fit to my need. The good feature of it is the ability to handle bitcoin, litecoin and even etherium, which is good thing because you can eve swap each other. The mobile app comes with it shows QR code for fast sending and receiving. Moreover, you can also buy and sell direct from the application. On the other hand, transaction cost could be pricey compare to other wallet. Hope it helps!  ;)

I think he is asking for secure walets to store for long term. Otherwise wherever he is holding his coins I believe it will be secure. But I dont prefer keeping in exchanges, personally I prefer Coinbase too and other wallets and for too long term paper wallet.

To me personally I like blockchains wallet in the sense that blockchains offers you the opportunity to perform two transactions in one wallet. When you have a blockchains wallet your have bitcoin I'd and at the same time an ethereuem wallet address.
So with that you are able to use you bitcoin and ethereuem wallet in one secured site, and again the interest on your bitcoin or ethereuem keep growing as the market cap keep increasing.

Do not store large amounts on exchanges or online purses. Based on your concept of the large amount you define store them online or on a cold wallet. And after that you will find a lot of information about wallets on the official website of your currencies.

There's no such thing as the best wallet. it is just a matter of perspectives. Well, in my case, i am using an online app from playstore called Coins. This wallet allows the users to store their Bitcoin and easily convert it into fiat whenever they would like to. The application has an additional PIN CODE for additional security , so i think it is also a good option

I would suggest you use a hardware wallet - it depends on how much BTC you are trying to store. For larger amounts - Hardware
Many people think that a large amount of bitcoin means having hundreds of bitcoins but with the current price of bitcoin even having a single BTC should be enough to make you consider to buy a hardware wallet since hardware wallets are not really that expensive.

But for temporary storage you can use coinomi.

I highly recommend Exodus it's password protected, you own the private key and a multi wallet for your coins, not only that you exchange your coins from another, you can also use electrum if you are only going to store electrum.

I am not sure about litecoin. But when it comes to Bitcoin wallet, I think there no such thing as best. It will just depend on the perspectives of a user or investor. I am using cons, an app from playstore. And I am satisfied with the service I am getting. It allows me to convert Bitcoin into fiat anytime. Sending and buying load withbthe use of Bitcoin can be done with ease. Also, the group of people in charge in that app are active and will answer all your inquirees.

Online wallets like electrum and others are actually good for storing bitcoin, but if you want the best and safer wallet, I'd like to recommend you to use a hardware wallet such as trezor or ledger. You can save a lot of bitcoin in a hardware wallet on a long-term investment.

only coinbase that I consider very safe, because when opening the wallet requires verification of the phone number and also must open an email to confirm the device in order to access your account. Although the price is small enough for the transaction but your account will be safe, if using coinbase.

The best choice for now are wallets which support SegWit. I would recommend you Electrum because it started supporting native SegWit addresses in the latest release. They are many advantages of using SegWit for example, lower fees and faster confirmation time! If you have a lot of money in crypto then I would recommend you buying a hardware wallet. They are much more safe than software wallets because they never expose your private key to the third party, even not to your computer.

Coinbase for me is the best and reliable wallet. It is also a simple and straightforward platform for starters.

Once you have acquired a wallet, invest and join us in Bitconnect. BitConnect has become simply the world’s fastest growing online Bitcoin community. Bitconnect does not hold any “too-good-to-be-true” promises. I think that is what makes its future bright and strong. It works very simple: More risk more returns.

Ledger Nano S is the best wallet for your bought Bitcoin and Litecoin. It supports many cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Litecoin. If you bought a huge amount of them, a cold wallet is an answer. Ledger Nano S is a cold wallet. Cold wallets are similar to savings accounts. They are not connected to the internet, therefore, your digital asset will not be hacked.

Some of my friends are using mycelium wallet and they say that it is good too. Also if you would like to try coinbase, it looks pretty good too some of my friends use coinbase too. But be careful and don't choose any lesser known wallet or something as it might possibly be a scam.

First you need to know that there are many types of wallet, which are :
1. Online Web Wallet
2. Desktop Wallet
3. Mobile Wallet
4. Hardware Wallet
These are the types if i remember it correctly.
The safest one is the hardware wallet because you have your own private key, and you store your coin in an offline mode if you dont connect your hardware to a connected PC. I suggest you have one if you have money to buy it, because maybe now you only have a small amount of bitcoin, but that amount can be big sometimes, so better have it than going sorry later.
For me, because i cant order hardware wallet, and dont have the money to buy it yet, i am using blockchain mobile wallet as my wallet, it is easy to use, you can back up your wallet, and you can have your own private key too.

all of them are wallet legit as long as you have a wallet site and also used by most because nothing changes when the wallet is different as the bitcoin is important, because bitcoin only changes the price when it rises and drops, but in wallet it will not change because you just keep your bitcoin here. But it depends on where you choose the wallet when every transaction is high or low.

For me here in the Philippines the most trusted wallet to store bitcoins is the coins.ph. Why? because some of the financing businesses like cebuana, gcash, pnb, 7-eleven and other store are accepting bitcoins here in the philippines and it is too easy to handle all the transactions with coins.ph. But, this is not the only one best bitcoins wallet there are blockchain.info, coinbase and others.

Coinbase (online exchange). Online exchanges are, by and large, less secure than the methods described below. But Coinbase seems to have learned from the lessons of its predecessors, and is one of the biggest bitcoin exchanges in the world. It's also user friendly; not only can you buy, sell, exchange and trade bitcoin on Coinbase, but you can store your bitcoin in a wallet there, too.

I would make two suggestions here, one use a desktop wallet(not a mobile wallet or an online wallet) and secondly among all the desktop wallets, you will notice here too that Electrum has the most support.
Many people like it because it works well.

Electrum is a popular, free storage option in the bitcoin community, and is one of the most, if not the most, well-respected desktop storage apps out there. It's been around since 2011 and is also available for mobile, though Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) users are out of luck – to date it's only supported by Android.

talk about wallet, i think every wallet is safe. but most of people consider that Electrum is good for saving bitcoin, if you want to save it with hardware wallet,, you need to try Ledger Nano S,, but the price little expensive for me.. each wallet is good to save bitcoin, but you need to test the security first.
No, not every wallet is safe that is the issue, online wallets are well liked methods of storing your bitcoin and yet are on of the most unsafe methods since hackers have a lot of methods at their disposal to hack those wallets that is why cold storage and paper wallets are safer methods of protecting your bitcoins.
