Title: Newbie question: How do I change the url?
Post by: racingfree on June 30, 2011, 05:46:27 PM
Hi, I thought I'd try this bitcoin mining out and so I followed the instructions here (http://iscyspace.com/) to do so. I finally ended up registering on this page (http://mining.bitcoin.cz) that tells me to "please point your miners to new url" without telling me - Queen Newb of Newbtonia - how to do so.

Anyone care to tell me? Help very much appreciated! :D

Wow, 54 views and not one reply? Does no one know how to do this? Or did I commit a faux pas somewhere?

Anyone? foreveralone.jpg

If you are running the latest version of GUIMiner then you have nothing to worry about. The change has already been made to the program (version 2011-06-14). If you are running an older version then you should get the new one.

Thanks Yatta99!  :D That's the version I have. The website shown in the upper right is different from the one they wanted me to change to though. Is it supposed to be like that?

That's just the Guild website, that doesn't matter. What matters is the web address that the program points your miner to; the 'api.bitcoin.cz' address. It was different and changed a few weeks ago that's why there is a message to change it. The list of miner addresses can be seen in the file servers.ini in the guiminer directory if you want to look. It's just a text file so you can open it with notepad (but don't change anything unless you know what you are doing).

Ah it was in an .ini file! I checked and everything is A-OK, just like you said. Thank you so much for your help!  :-*
