Been that way for over a week.

First time for when I checked it. It has always been 4-6% difference for me. Of course many month ago there were even larger discrepancies.

It was 20% a few days ago, although you are right in that it is[/was] growing. Now with the gox price dropping its smaller again.

Right now, it's impossible to withdraw USD from Mt. Gox.

Because of that, there's a glut of USD relative to Bitcoin - people have been buying BTC just to get their capital out of Gox.

Hence, a higher USD/BTC exchange rate compared to any exchange with functioning USD withdrawls.

The "temporary hiatus" was described as a two-week affair as of June 20th. So, theoretically, we'll be back to normal on the Fourth of July.

I think there's some trepidation in the market as to whether Mt. Gox will actually meet that schedule.

Actually, withdrawals have continued albeit at a reduced rate, 1 mln $ /day according to MagicalTux.

The difference has closed in the last 12 hours. Bitstamp has remained at 88-90 (with a flashcrash to 85) while MtGox has gone from 97 to 93

Are you making a point on MtGox market share?

I think its unfair to compare until [er, if] mtgox withdrawals come back online.. and then wait a week.

It's reported that Mt. Gox has finally registered as a money lender with FINCEN. This should bring some calm to the market. I hope that's a sign of Mt. Gox working with the legacy financial system and that we'll have a more robust withdrawal route available in the next few weeks.

However, I think this drop is only 10% from Gox issues, and 90% from bubble deflating/profit taking.
