Hello, I need information about dag epoch,  my friend said that after dag epoch 200 we cant use rx570 and all GPUs with 4 GB memory to this algorithm. Its really? After increasing dag epoch to 200 I can't mine etc with 4 GB memory GPUs?

the possibility of it happening is not that high and also devs and miners find a solution when dag epoch causes issues with low memory graphic cards i wouldn't worry about it too much if it came to worst we just mine some other ethash coin with our 4 GB GPUS.

I think for all ethash currency's  will be unusable 4 gb GPUs..

Yes, at some point 4 GB cards will become unusable to mine Ethereum due to the DAG size.

As far as the comment about developers addressing this issue, since this was a design feature don't old your breath on anything like that happening. For example 2 GB cards could mine Ethereum just fine until March of this year when the DAG went past 2 GB, obviously no code changes were made to accommodate this as it was intended.

The nice thing about the need for ever increasing memory is that it helps keep the ASICs at bay, although it also means you need to update your graphics cards more frequently or just avoid it all together and buy 8 GB or larger cards to begin with.

Well since they are all based on the same dagger-hashamoto (also called Ethash) algorithm, they will all eventually fall to the same fate, it just may take a bit longer before it happens.

It takes a long time until that moment comes. In fact I am still dual mining with my Nvidia GTX 1060 which is only 3 GB and until April as minimum I am not afraid but it may take even more time before this happens. Beside that when your 4GB cards cannot mine Ethereum anymore there are a lot of other coins like Bitcoin Gold and Zcash in Equihash which profitability is good too. Now that the price of Bitcoin is over 10k mining is really profitable again in dollar terms and not in BTC terms.

What is the approximate date to reach the DAG epoch 200 in ethereum? at the moment I'm mining cryptonight and I'm misinformed about it.

Epoch 200 in July 2018. But according to online calculators, 4GB should be enough until epoch 383, which will come in the end of 2020.

Thanks for the reply, I just do not understand why they are talking about problems with epoch 200.

Where you check this, what the online calculator?

Plenty of time till we reach the 4GB Limit.
Don't worry about those things now + there would be other coins on the same algo that you could switch and still be profitable.
