There are many exchanges that work in the US as well as other countries. If Coinbase supports your country I would give that a try.

Just google "buy bitcoin" + your country. And you will see list of options. Make sure to check what % premium do you pay, it took me few hours first time to understand, where to buy with less than 5% premium

You can use payment methods like credit card or bank transfer. credit cards are faster but you will get charged higher fees. Bank transfer may take 4-5 days but the fees are minimal!

Coinbase can take weeks to get your account verified. But Kraken does not allow you to buy coins via credit card (as Ciinbase does). So there are pros and cons to both options...AND these aren't your only options. But if you new there , you will need to wait 24 hours for withdrawal , because of fraud reasons . Or you can verify yourself and do instant withdraws . Im from Europe
