Do we need to study English to be successful?

English is spoken in more countries than any other language. That means that English is the language that will give you the best return for your efforts.

If you want an answer, then tell me what is the definition of "success" is?

Why learn English when it is so difficult? Well, knowing English will make you bilingual and more employable in every country in the world.

Not necessarily. Just because you don't know how to speak english or you didn't study it doesn't mean that you can't be successful.

Success for me is something when you are contented of what you have, but  in this forum or for the question I'am pertaining to be employed and to be an asset in you community.

English is considered as the universal language. That means, most of the countries and population of people speaks English. If we do not have the knowledge in communication and in English then we are most likely not to succeed.

It's not really hard. All you have to do is read and read and read. Make your vocabulary deeper and construct simple sentences one by one.

Of course, English is needed. And not only it, every additional language adds points. Chinese, for example.

We need to study english to have an effective communication , to know and to communicate with other person , english is the mother tounge of all , or english is well known language , or to be exact is popular language. But english or have your'e good on it doesn't define , or the definition of success , success are when you learn something new.

English is an International language and it is used all over the world.And higher studies are all in English ! So obviously to be successful English is important.

Yes.  English is a universal language and we have to study it for us to understand those from other countries having different culture from us. Moreover,  we have to learn it to express ourselves at the same time.

English language is the most common language used. not primarily in other countries but I think its one of the most studied language that connects many people all over the world. I think mandarin is another language widely used.

Maybe in some point. But i dont think speaking english will make is successful in life. There are successful countries in this world that don even speak english. The decision to learn this things is just for personal enrichment of your knowledge but speaking multiple languages is an advantage that can open opportunities for you.

Yes of course , but it's not definition of success , success measure by , how you understand and what you learn. Learning english is one of the common language that we used. And yes of course we need it to communicate to everyone. Language barrier is not that great in Japan. Some of my friends are studying there, and they have told me that most of the people know English. But still, it is better to learn Japanese in order to travel to the rural areas. And in Japan, the problem is that it is extremely difficult for the expats to learn the Japanese language, as it is very complex.

Good point there. I personally applied this approach too. Reading a lot of English texts to have a big grasp on the English vocabularies and sentence construction; however, just as it would be expected of any rich language, I would say it almost takes a lifetime to master English. You keep learning it,  because news words are even being coined year in year out. It never stops growing.

Not really.  Japanese and even Chinese do not know how to speak english fluently or not at all but they are rich and successful.  It is a language that we need to understand people from the other country.  It is our international language.  If your job involves on meeting client around the world, then better to study English.

Of course we need it to have a better communication , and to have an effective communication , to communicate on every people , to be formal. But it's not definition of success , success define on how you influence other , how you teach , and how you are good. But now a days , people speaking english are saying that their rich , cool kid like that , but in the other hand , english have many advantages and different opportunities.

I guess you do. You are already communicating in English so where is the bad when you need to perfect it and meet some real game changers. Lets not kid ourselves, America and Britain are major impacters of our world and about a 1 billion people speak and understand some form of English so i think its an important dialect to be perfected if you are already within Anglo-America relation cycle.

English is not necessary to become successful. Not everyone who can speak English are successful, and not everyone who can't speak English are not successful. The reason why people want to learn English is that, learning the universal language will take you one step ahead if you are looking for opportunities such as: jobs, business and a lot more. 

We really dont need to study the english language for us to be qualified as successful. Success is when you did achieve everything that you have always dreamed of.

To be competitive yes, but I don't think you need to learn English to be successful. There are alot of entrepreneurs who actually don't know a shred of English but are successful enough to hire translators. What I'm saying is that learning English could give you an edge and be globally competitive, but learning this language to be successful is kind of a reach. Besides, different people have different views of success.

As we know now English is international language that spoken by people around the world. And it is no need for people that learning and spoken English to became success. We learn it just to be able to communicate and socialize with people from different countries. Therefore, by English we can easily communicate and doing business. 

Nope the English language is the basis at which success is measured in the entire world, but it really helps when one study the English language because almost 70% of the world's population are speaking it so it's very helpful in that regards.

In my country(Philippines) it's a must to be successful. The good thing is it is integrated in the education system, so every school year, we get a certain kind of English lesson, usually getting more and more complicated each year.
