Title: Which alternate coins have a future? Post by: Kujmandosz on July 02, 2013, 06:42:50 PM Since there are so many new coins, I don't know which one(s) to mine. My hashing power is only 244 khash so I can only focus on 2-3 coins. What do you guys think? Which coin has a chance to survive, raise in value and succeed in the future.

2) WDC 3) FTC 4) DGC These are placed in order where the top one has the most potential to rise in value. This is my own research you should do your own as well before following anyone. I only own PXC so don't think I am promoting these four because I own them. It is your own choice. But i would recommend PXC. Innovation doesn't mean much ... it happens many times that a clone or a slightly improved clone will prevail over the original I would say there's some space for a "fast" coin (Worldcoin, Digicoin?) Why not those two? Title: Re: Which alternate coins have a future? Most promising next to DGC, WDC and FTC. Title: Re: Which alternate coins have a future? And ofcourse we need services for them where they can be used. So these are the places where they are lacking I know PPC and Nova coin are good at service but not in mining. Bitbar and bitgems are meant to store value but don't know what is the future of BOT. I think for newbie miners it is best that they mine PXC, WDC, FTC and DGC the developers are good and have some future plans for making there coins useful in different services. Why? Slow steady innovation. Realistic inflation rate. What do you mean they are not "good at mining"? People can't get good rewards for mining them with low hashrates. And even if they are able to mine them in good quantity what ensures them that the value will increase. Value only increases with utilization. I am talking about long term mining not perday. DGC, WDC, and PXC collaboration was interesting and I don't think PXC is the forerunner of the bunch, but they should benefit the most. PXC always had some well-made services but never really caught on, perhaps it will eventually. Aside from that group, PPCoin once Bitcoiners are bored. BitGem and CopperLark have interesting clients (though functionality is questionable). Title: Re: Which alternate coins have a future? Emunie is good but people can mine it with CPU, RAM and HDD so it will not have an impact on other cryptos people will still mine these alts with GPU. So don't take tension about that. It is outstanding coin with no other competitor. :) Title: Re: Which alternate coins have a future? Post by: amytheplanarshift on July 03, 2013, 09:34:35 AM YAC and PXC.

Post by: FreeTrade on July 03, 2013, 09:53:11 AM Ok, 'potential for long-term sustainable mass-adoption' then... The coins I'm finding interesting are Infinitecoin (misnomer) - because it has the potential to become genuinely scarce. Assuming you ignore the silly numbers, and focus on the inflation rate. Nearly 0% after 6-12 months. YACoin - because it is the only coin that will support efficient CPU mining. Efficient mining on existing desktop PCs has the potential to capture the public imagination. Title: Re: Which alternate coins have a future? Post by: naphto on July 03, 2013, 09:55:56 AM Ok, 'potential for long-term sustainable mass-adoption' then... You're being too restrictive. Even bitcoin has NO POTENTIAL for that. Bitcoin will remain used for buying illegal stuff, exchange some money between countries, buy some stuff on internet (for geeks, because it's more expensive to buy bitcoins, pay fees, and pay with bitcoins that pay with money at the first place...), and give some money to wannabe traders ... It will never be close to massively adopted because (1) confirmations are way too long (2) fees are too high (3) there is not enough security that you can safely keep large amount of money (like what you win for 20 years for example....). |
