I am looking for a cheap SSD for rig. Can you please suggest what would be the better choice among the following:

a) Intel 320 Series 160 GB SATA 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive: 37 US$

If you ask me this is how my logical thought would go:

1) Letter C is out, it is too expensive
2) Letter B is out, it has the same specs as Letter D but more expensive
3) Letter A is out, it is more expensive and samsung memory drives are more known for stability and 128gb is enough for a mining rig

So definitely i'd pick D:

A is bigger if you do windows it is worth it.

It depends on you, if you are willing to spend $47 then go buy C. Definitely not B, same price with A but lower capacity, same capacity with D but more expensive. Though comparing D and A, it would be practical to go for A for just a $4 difference.

You only need like 32G for windows, and thats pushing it.

Vote for the  D) - Samsung too.  
 I've had bad experience with Lite-On.  The others seems a bit expensive for what they offer.

Fresh new Win 10 Pro installed the other day is around 16-17 GB  + 22 GB for swap (I put only 4 GB Ram in the rig)  gives total roughly 40 GB.

meh hardly, anything over 80gb is just dumb, as far as prices goes 35 bucks max. cheaper you can get the ssd the better. I get mine used on ebay since there only being used on a mining rig, 80gb is plenty of space which includes the 16gb windows virtual memory

yeah dude windows needs more than that to properly run right. your going to have issues down the line. heck even the installation TELLS that it needs more than that if try to set it lower
which id assume you ignored, also having a smaller page file vs more ram is in fact better. have a larger page file will screw with the performance of the ssd since those don't run anywhere near as fast as ram does

If you are just planning to run a 64 bit Windows 10 on it, coupled with the mining software, the 128 GB SSD is enough. Windows only takes around 25 GB of that space. If you are planning on doing more than mining on that machine however, I would suggest a 256 or even a regular HDD as backup.

If I choose Samsung, I have 2 SSD. Samsung and Corsair, So far performance Samsung better than Corsair.

A, B and D all are ok I think. Currently I'm using Lite-on and Intel SSD as well, and as you listed, these price is quite cheap. As I remember I got to pay around 54$ for Lite-on in B.

With proper setup/tweaks  the Windows would not need much more...  especially if you use it only for dedicated mining.  I would even say a 64GB disk is sufficient with some windows modifications.
My strategy is 4GB DDR4 Ram and M2 SSDs with 20-22 GB swap on the Windows.  This works fast and fine for me for many months.
Many things in the IT can be done multiple ways.

Definitely Samsung. I have about a dozen Samsung SSDs from 250GB SATA to 2TB NVMe and all of them are in perfect condition even after 3.9 years of online time (https://i.imgur.com/cmmF5fe.png). (My problem is in my current Z370 system with 3 NVMe, I can only have another 2 SATA drives at a time).

I also have about a dozen 120/250 GB Kingston SSDs and I have 2 die on me in mining rigs (so light use).

Samsung is the best choice. Excelent performance and durability for mining

I would go for Intel all the time although Samsung is a great choice too. Just don't get the Lite On or any thing below Intel and Samsung and you will be good to go. Sandisk has shown quite a few problems in mining for me together with Western Digital. Actually my mining rigs are all powered by Kingston SSD and running from a few months without problems.

I would go for A, the Intel for only 4 bucks more. While it is true you do not need 160 GB for a mining rig, even running Windows, SSDs last a long time.

I actually have an early model Intel 80 GB SSD (that I paid $314 for when it first came out) still running in one of my mining rigs. It is now over 8 years old and still going strong.

The point is, even if you move on from mining, or make a new rig in a few years that requires a bigger storage footprint, that 160 GB capacity may be still useful, while going with a smaller size to save 4 bucks might not. I expect quality SSDs will last 10 years if not longer, probably one of the more useful long lasting components you can buy.

I recommend going with 64GB or even 128GB, allow you to set quite a bit of virtual memory, some algos need alot of it (32 to 64GB)

I agree on this one. Buy cheap one it will be good for mining purpose.
