Title: Bitfinex pump/dump 29.11.2017
Post by: megget on November 30, 2017, 08:23:51 AM
Bitfinex became frequent with pamp and dump. Yesterday there was a serious manipulation of 3 coins: NEO, ETP, OMG. Many people who were in marginal trading went into big minus. You can enter the exchange and see how the prices for these tokens have been omitted several times in a matter of minutes. Why such a large exchange creates manipulation and undermines trust? Or the exchange is not to blame?

This is horrible for traders. I saw NEO touch $3 and come back to $31 in a matter of minutes. Bitfinex should take more precautions.

If someone wants to use their money to try and manipulate the market, why should an exchange interfere? It's market processes at work. Even BTC is not immune to this kind of activity. People tried to pump & dump BCash at the fork. It's a fact of life in crypto and not the problem of just one exchange. It happens everywhere, even in traditional stock markets.

it is not just happening on bitfinex, it is happening on all exchanges and as a matter of fact it is happening to almost all of the altcoins.
the past 20 hours have been a heck of ride in this market. bitcoin went above $11K and dropped back to $9k levels twice now and that is creating a lot of havoc in the whole market, specially for these altcoins that are big and are being traded with both bitcoin and USD at the same time.

if you check some of their charts you can see all the big fast dips on almost all of them. that is not much of a manipulation, that is how the market works. bitcoin drops, altcoins follow. bitcoin rises altcoins drop again!
