Title: Morsi to Egypt, USA has my back Im not leaving!
Post by: zedicus on July 03, 2013, 07:07:49 AM
So millions of people in the streets of Egypt are protesting with crowds that have been rumored to be the biggest "protests" in human history.

They want him out ( president Morsi ) and they are not having three more years! The Egyption army gave him a 48hr ultimatum and he says he's not leaving!!

So is the US is going to Egypt to save president Morsi from the army of Egypt and its people? Or do they just become an ally of whoever is in charge?

Do the people suddenly become "the rebels" if Morsi stays? or do only Morsi supporters become Rebels?

Rebels are people that disagree with USA. Does not matter if it's Morsi, or/and his opponents.

How do you move tanks against such a crowd?  Unless you are China in Tian An Men.

Not necessarily.
Depends on what they think about USA.

I feel sorry for those Egyptians, after the effort it took to depose Mubarak, they actually believed they might have developed a decent Constitution and Government. At least the unique thing about Egypt is the military is quite helpful to the people rather than the Government and doesn't hold a 50 year junta once they get in.

I don't see Morsi staying in power much longer.  He'll soon be out of there one way or another.  My judgement may be clouded by my hopes though.  Unfortunately for the Egyptian people they won't get any help from the U.S.  Obama runs foreign affairs based upon what he thinks some people will think.  For some reason he thinks it will make him look good if he sticks by Morsi.  If he instead stuck to the reasoning that got him to say Mubarak should go then he would be saying the same thing about Morsi.

They're just asking for international intervention.

Now, at what point your country no longer belongs to you when you constantly seek foreign help or opinions.

This! I cant imagine what they have been through as a whole in the last year.

I think he's gonna stay until there is all out mayhem and death, Civil war and maybe...international crisi!!

Well considering the military coup d'etat-ed him hours ago, I think your prediction is kinda wrong.

Actually, Obama called him last night to remind him that the US does not support any party in Egypt. Rather they support democracy, non-violence, and the rule of law. Clearly the white house is avoiding taking sides.
It is a sticky wicket for the U.S. Morsi is the fairly elected official, but he is using his power to institute anti-democratic measures.

Yeah i think its a tough position to be in for the us!  I guess they would want new elections!.. So they could be an ally to the elected official?

Amen to that. I mean if I was living in Egypt, I don't care if you follow Islam as long as you don't kill anyone or impose your religion on me! I mean, just make a totally secular constitution that allows any religion! I mean, if Islamic laws are put in place, that means no bacon and beer, two of the most essential things in life, other than bitcoin.

I was in a bar once in Amsterdam (Sept '12.)  The bartender was from Egypt.  He left there a few years ago.  He left because of religious persecution.  He's Christian.  The woman he loved was Christian.  The Muslims there would not let him practice his religion and be with the woman he loved freely and openly.  He had to do it in secret until they escaped to the Netherlands together.  It's a very interesting story.  He told me he loved Bush and hates Obama.  He said, "Obama is sh*t!  Bush, I love that man.  Bush doesn't take any sh*t from Islamic extremists."  He also talked about the owner of the bar, who's Muslim, and how the owner treated him like sh*t.

I don't know what's going to happen to the people of Egypt or what direction they're going to go in.  But I do think a civil war could erupt.  I hope the U.S. stays the F*#@ out.  I'd love to talk to that bartender again to get his thoughts.  His name is Michael and he works at the Black Tiger Bar (http://www.blacktiger-bar.com) in the Red Light District.  Cool guy!  He told me he'd love to tell his story to CBS/NBC/ABC/Youtube, etc.  If anyone lives in Amsterdam, reach out to him for commentary, take a video camera.  When I was talking to him, my friend, a bleeding heart liberal said, "One man's opinion."  I doubt that.  I told my friend about the problems in Egypt a year ago.  And things are now coming to fruition.

Thoughts?
