Title: Server PSU question about 24 pin
Post by: nathan0658@gmail.com on November 30, 2017, 08:07:06 PM
So I am in the process of pricing out my 2nd rig build to get supply's and finances ready.

I am wanting to get a server PSU to power all the GPUs and risers (starting with 6 but want to be able to expand).

I currently have 2 ATX power supplies linked on my first Rig to power on and off at the same time but this set up cost approx. $180 for both PSUs and the PSU adaptor.

Can I get 1 large 1200+ watt Server PSU and power my Mobo, SSD, ect. all from it with some adapter that would connect to the breakout board?

Any advice or recommendations for merchants to purchase quality server psu's from please let me know.

New Rig build will be (so far):

6x RX580 8GB
1 Asus Prime Z270
6 Risers (powered by PCIe cables)
4gb RAM

still need: PSU with PCie cables

Nice company https://www.parallelminer.com/product-category/power-supply-kit/  :)
Also, You will need a PICO adapter for server PSU in order to power the MOBO from it.

Is there such an adapter for a specific PSU https://www.ebay.de/itm/DPS-1200FB-800GB-A-Power-Supply-Breakout-Board-Adapter-For-Ethereum-Mining-ZEC/372030217255?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49482%26meid%3Da9e099add80044378aef98beb99af6eb%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D262416181983&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850 (https://www.ebay.de/itm/DPS-1200FB-800GB-A-Power-Supply-Breakout-Board-Adapter-For-Ethereum-Mining-ZEC/372030217255?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49482%26meid%3Da9e099add80044378aef98beb99af6eb%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D262416181983&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850). Of course there is the possibility to unsolder the cable 6/8-pin directly to the power supply.

thanks for the quick reply.

I am getting to get a server PSU with the PICO adapter so I can have it all run on 1 PSU.

This is the starting process of my building. I will keep expanding and adding 1 new rig when funds allow or when my ROI is gained back from each Rig.

My thought process is that my ROI will continue to decrease with each new rig because I will have the Rig/Rigs before it paid off as well and contributing to the overall small farm investment.
