Title: Avalon4-Avalon6 50-foot interconnect cable Post by: dsh on December 01, 2017, 03:34:09 PM Having some trouble figuring out how to search for this. The cable is the four-pin interconnect cable for daisy-chaining Avalon4 and/or Avalon6 (not sure about Avalon7). The idea is to daisy-chain two miners between rooms to enable heat and noise reduction, as well as balance out electricity dispersion. At least a 50-foot cable would be preferable.

The circuits using that data cable are not capable of sending information more than a few feet. Maybe amused. Just looking into ideas after all. For those who enjoy engineering solutions, this is just part of the process. Title: Re: Avalon4-Avalon6 50-foot interconnect cable Post by: NotFuzzyWarm on December 03, 2017, 02:04:43 AM The problem is that the SPI/I2C data bus is made only for coms within a short distance, typically entirely within a few feet between repeaters/links.
That said, if you have a few of the AUC USB converters, whole 'nother story. Use a boosted USB cabe and 50' between the Raspi and AUC/miner in another room should be no problem. Just be sure the boosted cable uses a wall wart to power it so the AUC gets enough power. Same here. A normal un-powered boosted cable is at least $30. Toss in a powered hub at the remote miner end or cost of a powered boosted cable and pretty much a moot point. |
