Title: We should start using BTc Post by: dnaleor on July 04, 2013, 09:42:16 AM Why not using Bitcents (BTc) in stead of Bitcoins (BTC) :)
Think it better reflects the value: if 1 BTC = 100 USD; 1 BTc = 1 USD Title: Re: We should start using BTc Post by: Liquid on July 04, 2013, 09:45:35 AM Why not using Bitcents (BTc) in stead of Bitcoins (BTC) :) Think it better reflects the value: if 1 BTC = 100 USD; 1 BTc = 1 USD +1 1BTCc = $1 USD Title: Re: We should start using BTc Post by: Foxpup on July 04, 2013, 09:58:48 AM For reference, the accepted abbreviation is cBTC, not BTc, as the latter is far too easily confused with BTC. Millibitcoin (mBTC) is more widely used anyway.

Huh (?) Title: Re: We should start using BTc Post by: herzmeister on July 04, 2013, 12:38:43 PM People who spell it "BitCoin" all the time won't like this idea. :-\

Title: Re: We should start using BTc Post by: elements on July 04, 2013, 01:54:31 PM This would be way to confusing!
It think that Bitcoin is already hard enough to understand as it is and adding more confusion to it doesn't help at all. BTC is established, so is mBTC, μBTC and Satoshi and that is enough for the time being (BTW even Wikipedia lists these). I also oppose the change from BTC to XBT and mXBT respectively - simply because it is far too late for that. (Even though the XBT has a logical merit to it considering ISO standards. But there have always been exceptions with the ISO standard e.g. EUR and if we can't make an exception for an entirely new kind of currency then I don't know when we can/should.) Two or three years ago there could have been a debate about it and a change could have been an option but today there are simply established conventions which grew over the years and are imprinted to the community and what is more the outsiders/newbies to be who come across bits and pieces of info now and again. Changing conventions now would make it so much harder and makes BTC (!) look more unprofessional as is. People will simply use what makes most sense to them. Conventions are not needed for this to happen. Title: Re: We should start using BTc Post by: BitcoinBarrel on July 04, 2013, 03:13:56 PM It's not going to stay at $100 = 1 BTC forever.

Equally, you can't force anyone else to use BTc if they don't want. People will use whatever they want, and in time a common usage will develop naturally. |
