Learn Java or Kotlin to develop android application, ObjectiveC or Swift to develop ios application.
Python is easy to learn, and it can be make desktop app, backend server.
Javascript has a lot of library support you to develop mobile app(with react native), frontend web(reactjs, vuejs, angularjs,...), backend(Nodejs)

Microsoft is investing billions into the cloud.

You would be wise to learn a MS language like C#.

I still think Java is the way to go for your first programming language. I think it is one of the easier to learn and guides you through all elementary object-oriented elements you have to learn. It is definitely helpful if you wanna do some android programming.

That being said, you will be alright with most of the object-oriented languages. It is more to learn the patterns and getting used to programming than anything else. Being patient doing a ton of mistakes and learn from it is the harder part, regardless of the language. If you learn one language very well you will be able to transfer very easily to another language.

This is a good question if you are a computer science student.

If I am a student now, I will take up python, nodejs and will go for artificial intelligence related stuff. Always wanted to do something on robotics.

It depends on your career plan - Do you want to take up a top company job or do you want to free-lance?
