I would suggest that you stop selling bitcointalk accounts.
Mostly scammers buy accounts to scam people with the registered date.
I don't see any benefit in buying accounts if your honest/trustworthy.
This only benefits the scammers.

This is my thought process as well.

Other than quickly and illegitimately buying trust, what purpose does buying an account have over creating your own?

Why would you want to sell forum accounts and why (just for information, curious) would anybody buy a forum account?

Can anyone explain that to me :)

I have a collection of bitcointalk forum accounts for sale. I have many from 2012 and 2011, but just a few from 2010. They all have junior member position with around 4 hours of login time and around 2-6 posts. If you are intending on using these for giveaways, these account have all been used on the Ripple giveaway thread. For now I would like to sell these individually or a few per transaction. If you seem like a reputable user I will go first, if not I'd like you to or we can use escrow. Post here if you are interested. I'll gather a few offers for starters, I'm not sure how much these are worth or if they are even worth listing. No bs, and please no trolls.  ;)

Nice that is great.

Most people will buy an account so they can scam on it. It looks like it has some trust since it is old, so newer members will go first to them.

We can trade 1 account at a time for starters and I'll send first. After we build up a trust we can hop up the numbers. Its that or we can find someone for escrow.

Maybe someone just wants to have an account with a little rep attached so they can sell their stuff without the usual flaming BS typically thrown at new members. Maybe not.

Allowing this type of activity on the forum allows newbies a powerful warning right in their face, instead of keeping these activities (which cannot reasonably be prevented) in the depths of IRC. This forum contains some of the most powerful arguments in favor of really THINKING about all the risks involved in transactions which is required in a world without chargebacks and other fraud protection.

It's probably not even their main account, he/she could be anyone.

What a lot of garbage. My own account is very new and only a halfwit who doesn't know how to post or someone looking to scam people would want to buy these accounts. Credibility doesn't increase because the account is older, credibility is generated by what you say and the way you say it.

It may be legal, but it's certainly not warranted or wanted.

I don't see why you guys are making such a big deal about this.  It doesn't matter that these accounts are 1-3 years old.  They don't have any activity and as a result still look like brand new accounts.  The only difference between these accounts and an account that someone just created today is the registration date, and no one with any common sense pays attention to that anyway.

You don't see this other web sites because they are normally run by adults who take responsibility for their actions.  This forum is run by criminals living in a fantasy land.

Haha! :D That's a bit strong don't you think? It seems quite out of character from the usually chirpy Milly Bitcoin happy-go-lucky 'advice'. I've copied this one from your website, it's good wholesome advice, more the kind of line you should be propagating rather than slandering the forum operators:

"Robbery Reported at Bitcoin Exchange Meetup

By Milly Bitcoin – June11, 2013

Many Bitcoin users have been promoting local meetups for Bitcoin exchanges.  The services work by connecting local Bitcoin buyers and sellers who can make exchanges face-to-face.  Of course anytime you meet strangers off the Internet to do cash transaction it is dangerous.  Bitcoin users are now starting to report issues with these meetups.

In this story (now mostly removed) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=174918.0 a user in Ireland claims the buyer was an undercover Police who suspected the user of dealing drugs.

Now a story out of Germany https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=231970.0 where a users claims he was beaten and robbed trying to do an in-person transaction.

Bitcoin developer Mike Hearn has also reported a relative was defrauded by someone who agreed to pick up a laptop in person only to have the person exploit the Paypal dispute policy and obtain a refund.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD4L7xDNCmA

Meeting strangers from the Internet to do cash transactions is a dangerous activity no matter how many people tell you they have done it successfully."

No, you have it backwards.  With the new activity formula, having an account with a old register date doesn't matter if you've hardly used the account.  You'll show up with the same activity as someone that's new.

Multiple accounts and and account selling should never be allowed on forums where business is conducted. It's fine on entertainment forums and places like reddit, but it's just a horrible idea to allow this on forums where you are dealing with buying and selling of currency and goods . This opens the door for scammers, shill bidding, and fake service reviews.

It can't be stopped sadly. Even if the moderators tried to stop it. They would deal outside the forum. For example reddit and other sites which has Bitcoin discussion. Most accounts which are sold are used to scamming and the things you have listed. But, some are also sold to allow people to get out of newbie jail. Although, that isn't very hard at all. So, I just consider the person who is selling them as a untrustworthy person because he/she is actually encouraging scamming.

I would suggest that you stop selling bitcointalk accounts.
Mostly scammers buy accounts to scam people with the registered date.
I don't see any benefit in buying accounts if your honest/trustworthy.
This only benefits the scammers.

I just want to agree with this and hope this is going to stop, it's just scammer support.

This is proof mods don't give 2 shits about this forum.

Nah, the forum policy allows selling of accounts. We can't really stop it anyway, so better let everyone know that accounts are being sold and traded. Do not trust anyone just because 'their account seems old'/'have a lot of posts'.

Honestly if i'm trying to check if someone's a scammer I just read through a few pages of their latest posts and check the dates. It's pretty easy to tell who's a legitimate trader and who is not.

"Can't be tracked", personally I disagree as there are ways to combat socks but BTCTalk command apparently does not see this.

Why? For signature deals it's very profitable. And scammers usually scam pretty well with just newb accounts anyway.

The fact that this person is wanting to only sell the accounts as one package tells me that the accounts either do not exist or are hacked. Additionally the fact that the accounts have zero posts means that it would be impossible for him to prove ownership of the accounts.

I would avoid this like the plague

Hey, I've been on here for 2 years and have traded a few hundred accounts during that time. Wouldn't you think I'd have some negative ratings showing if I were scamming people?

I'm selling all at once to make it easy on myself. I do not want to spend more time than I have to on here.

These accounts haven't been used in years or never at all, they don't belong to anyone but myself.

He won't, it is a business venture after all and if someone scams or spams with an account they buy from him it doesn't negatively affect him at all. Just stating the truth.

This is my thought process as well.

Other than quickly and illegitimately buying trust, what purpose does buying an account have over creating your own?

You can make easy money participating in a signature thread payout. With enough posts you can make your money back and generate extra $$$ on the side

Uhh 0.75 btc is WAAYYY too much for this. Newbie accounts go for maybe 0.0001 each and its easier to make your own instead of paying almost 200$ for these accounts. Price should be more like 0.1 btc in that price range.

Well having a list of user accounts and their passwords already made is easier to sell to people if you are into account selling, and these accounts were made in 2010 and older accounts are worth more than regular.

It is a lie, Quickseller already said that rarely bought accounts are used to scam, and when they do, they manage do scam less than what the account is worth, making it worthless.

Title: Re: Bitcointalk accounts - $20 gets you 10 accounts.

I think  worse than selling accounts are these &*(^&*&@*@(!  "ad campaigns."  If they were eliminated probably 70% of all the messages on the entire forum would go away.  Most are so blatantly posted just to keep up post counts it's absurd.

I would assume the forum itself (other than just the poster) benefits from them so obvious they obviously they won't.  I'd rather see a "forum donation" campaign or even a fee to allow posting in the most popular forums rather than all the BS posts just to keep up the count.

If it is "legal" here the OP should be allowed to sell accounts. There are already so many scammers that it makes no difference but what would you expect from ANY anonymous forum selling primarily with untraceable funds? That's the nature of the beast. Everyone has to put on their big boy pants and just watch who they deal with and take responsibility for their own purchases.  I mean if you are buying $100 Starbucks card for $15 (that's my weakness) or $400 Amazon card for $200 something is obviously up.

There should def be a permanent tag on the account saying something like "SECONDARY OWNER" or something to let everyone know it is a sold account. Either that, or such accounts are not allowed to post at all in the FS/WTS sections.

And to the poster who said "guaranteed the picture is not him", you are correct lol. its a character from a TV show (neflix original) called Trailer Park Boys. Hilarious show.
