Title: Eclipse Mining Consortium (No fees!)
Post by: supersonic3974 on July 01, 2011, 03:35:56 PM
If you're new and looking for a pool to join, check out the Eclipse Mining Consortium (http://eclipsemc.com)!

Are there any fees?
"No, the only "fee" we keep is the transaction fees when a block is generated. We also have a 10% surcharge on Paypal Payouts to cover costs, otherwise no other fees are charged."

What is the reward system?
"We are currently employing a modified proportional system with a score based system coming online very shortly."

There is a US server, a UK server and a server for Australia and Asia.

You can connect very easily with poclbm or phoenix.

How do I connect to EclipseMC with poclbm?

For US residents
./poclbm.py -u <worker_name> -p <worker_pass> --host=http://us.eclipsemc.com --port=8337
For UK residents:
./poclbm.py -u <worker_name> -p <worker_pass> --host=http://eu.eclipsemc.com --port=8337
For Australia and Asia:
./poclbm.py -u <worker_name> -p <worker_pass> --host=http://pacrim.eclipsemc.com --port=8337

How do I connect to EclipseMC with Phoenix Miner?
For US residents:
./phoenix.py -u http://<worker_name>:<workerpass>@us.eclipsemc.com:8337
For UK residents:
./phoenix.py -u http://<worker_name>:<workerpass>@eu.eclipsemc.com:8337
For Australia and Asia:
./phoenix.py -u http://<worker_name>:<workerpass>@pacrim.eclipsemc.com:8337

Btw, I only mine with the eclipse mining consortium as an individual.  I don't get any reward for referring new members.  I'm just trying to help spread the word and help the community grow.   ;D

TL/DR:
There are no fees and it uses a modified proportional system.

Hi.

I started mining for your pool two days ago with my 5850. It's my first mining operation, and I have a few questions.

1) 5-10% of my shares are reported as "invalid/stale". What does this mean?

2) Why are my generated Bitcoin rewards "Unconfirmed"? How long until they get credited to my wallet? Can I receive a payment even if my Bitcoin client isn't running?

Thanks
-Reacon

As far as I know, EMC has already switched to the new score-based system (though the FAQ hasn't been updated).

In any case, the new system should be immune from pool hopping, so you won't lose any potential BTC due to hoppers.

Bitcoin rewards will remain unconfirmed until the block itself is confirmed, which is after 120 confirmations (approximately 20 hours, though that will vary).

EMC, at which I mine, has absolutely NOT switched to a score based system.  They are still vulnerable to pool hoppers.

I am a new and slow miner. I'm currently testing things out with my GPU at 14 Mhash/sec. Today I started mining at EMC and I am getting some stale/invalid shares. I have 40 accepted and 2 stales. Is this normal? I thought that stale shares only happen when a new block is discovered...

I'm using Poclbm gui miner on Ubuntu

This is not my pool, I'm just a member trying to promote it.  So I'll don't know all the technical details about mining/pools.  For answers to those types of questions, the best thing to do would be to ask Inaba on the EMC forums.  Just send him a pm.  https://eclipsemc.com/forums/forum.php

I can tell you that I currently have 2 5850s mining and out of the 7450 shares that have been accepted, I have 232 that were rejected.  So about 3% of mine get rejected.
