Title: Electroneum Mining Calculator
Post by: twofreckles on December 04, 2017, 11:17:47 AM
I'm just wondering does anyone gets what mining calculator tells? I do understand it depends on network, luck, pool etc. I've tried a lot of them in some cases I can't get even 50% of what calculator shows. Is this coin so laggy/bugged atm or calculators are just crap?

I tend to ignore them - i've just had a look at my numbers for the past week and it looks like I get around 50-60% of what the calculators estimate I'd get. Each pool calc is most likely based off their "time to next block solved" data - but this can be misleading if the pool drops a lot of hashing power suddenly.

ETN isn't buggy or laggy though. Watching the numbers here http://www.etnheartbeat.com you can see the hashing power move around during the day between a few main pools. Blocks getting solved continually. So its def the calc thats got issues - but at best its just a "best-case all going well" indicator.

I don't think that's how it works. All calculators function the same way (from all the pools and sites like WTM) and they don't use "time to next block solved" to estimate your profits. They just take the difficulty (current, or 24h avg, or whatever), calculate the odds of finding a block, and then divide the total reward proportionally to your hashrate. The "time to next block solved" is calculated with the same arguments: the pool just checks the current difficulty, and then, knowing the target TTF for the particular coin and the pool's total hashrate, it can estimate how many blocks it should find for a given period of time.

How about someone telling what the fuckin specs of the coin are? Cause I've just checked the ann thread and can't find block time or block reward anywhere.

Whattomine electroneum calculator is totally off and he gets his mining calculators *always* right.

Or maybe my pool results are totally off, I don't know.  ???
