I think it will still be for a long time, as it is first ancestor of crypto currency. Unless it is banned by governments from all over the world, i cannot see it falls from grace any time soon.

In my opinion I think Bitcoin will always be the best cryptocurrency whenever the 21 million Bitcoins still available and as I know it'll take more than 100 years to mine all 21 million Bitcoins out. LOL. Maybe we can't wait till the day that Bitcoin lose its 1st place. I believe that until i die Bitcoin will be always the best cryptocurrency and no other altcoin can replace Bitcoin :)

Bitcoin will be the leader for crypto all the time. It brings the technology and all other altcoins copy the idea of bitcoin to some degree. It also has the most public exposure.
10 million has a long way to go, but anything is possible for this world. If it does happen one day, we will have a different world.

It still will be long time. Since bitcoins having cap around +/- $195,869,831 from source coinmarketcap.
Ethereum which placing on #2, are having 1/4 Bitcoins caps volume only. Still so far other coins will reach bitcoins or replace it.
 

Time and technology will tell... As time passes by and new technologies come, if Bitcoin manage to adopt(im looking at you LN) or atomic swaps,  and people not SUDDENLY start selling it because of nonsense or any random political bullshit(well that is nonsense but whatever) price will always go higher(not taking in a count corrections, that is normal). We can always expect for Btc to be No #1

I think it would be very hard to put a number into which we can say the time for bitcoin to stay on top. HOwever I still think that with cryptocurrency breaking barriers and bitcoin the most recognized it would be a very long time for it yo be overtaken

"all the time" is a pretty long time. There could be a new technology we dont know of yet thats cooler, better, more exciting, more fun, solves more problems than Bitcoin does. But I dont see it happen for the next 100 years so yeah we should be safe with Bitcoin.

It has been just a recent development that cryptocurrency has reached the mainstream market and when people hear about crypto they think of BTC. So IMO BTC will stay the leader until some other crypto reaches that mainstream market, and at this point no other crypto is even close to it.

It will be for some time still. It was the first and it is the one that many people have put money into, so it has value. The technology is older and while new coins can do much more, its still going to rule the market. Also, there is a scarcity factor with the coins so there is more demand than supply. It is an asset though and not a currency. I know this debate has been going on forever but I don't think anyone would spend something that costs 11600 (as of this writing).

I think it's a long time to reign in all the crypto because bitcoin does not have a problem in the future because it helps us because the transactions are fast and fast as well, it's also a bit of a bitcoin so it's like someone else does it's another job so I think bitcoin is a bit longer for people's lives. In other countries only bitcoin is prohibited so there's a barrier to bitcoin time in the world.

I think bitcoin will lose its leadership, but it not will be very soon. Most likely it will happen after all bitcoins are mined.

As we know it. Bitcoin already leads for marketcap volume worldwide. And this value I think will still last for 5-10 years. But it could be faster according to the world economic movement. Or maybe it could be Ethereum will show its fangs.

BTC will be number one until some other coin show that is better and take the lead.Since BTC is most famous cryptocoin and one of the oldest,it is quite normal that people have the highest trust in this coin and they invest their money in such coin.Also it is very profitable asset and it is currency which is first time in history independent from governments and banks.

I dont think so because many technology before that is thought to be useful forever until a new technology develop that is superior to the previous technology and blochain technology is not exemption to this. But one thing is for sure, blockchain technology will last for a long time

This is the foundation why bitcoin will remain at top crypto. There may be other cryptos that will pumped hard but still bitcoin will be the one who will be the top performer at the end. If community will not support bitcoin, together with other countries, and banned this coin, then that's the time bitcoin will be ousted as top crypto in the crypto world.

It will be survive forever because the way bitcoin is going to hard work I will must appreciate its hard work if we see the performance of bitcoin is past so bitcoin price was very low in beginning and with the passage of time bitcoin reached to its high price although bitcoin have faced different fork but bitcoin don’t care about them and move forward so its mean bitcoin is such a currency which believe to stay on the top of all currencies.

The more we used bitcoins, the more it would add traffic to the internet. As we observed the, numbers of transactions every minute in the blockchain is gradually increasing and that could the reason of delay. And we have nothing to do that because that is the reality, and also considering the stability of our internet connections which is also a factor that might affect the the transaction process. And I don't believe that this are the reason for bitcoin to be replaced by other coins.

I've found myself questioning this exactly. It seems like people use other coins to actually spend, leaving bitcoin's use to a wealth storage tool. I think bitcoin will need some updates soon.

In my opinion i think bitcoin will remean a leader in a crypto 50 to 100 years that was my prediction base on the capasity of users enrolled. If somebody one of cryptos surpass bitcoin being bitcoin is slowing down to the last drop. Will thats the sign of bitcoin era has ended.

From my views towards the bitcoin is that I think that bitcoin become remain in leader in cryptocurrency in the future all the time in all over world. I all over the cryptocurrency bitcoin become the topmost cryptocurrency by doing hard work and become very popular in all over the world . BTC will remain the top crypto till the regulatory authorities ban it or the volume starts decreasing , whatever happens. Right now the bitcoin dominance is less than 48%, it was more than 57% a few days ago.
I dont know why it is really happening,anyway, bitcoin still has a veryyy high marketcap, and it means that the 48% of 400Billion dollars are not the same as 30Billion as it was a few months ago.

As per me forever - the bitcoins will be leader of the cryptocurrencies. Currently, there is no such coin which could match the popularity of the bitcoins and i don't think in future also any coin will replace the bitcoins. To maintain the top position, bitcoins network needs to improve in order to complete the transactions faster.

I believe there will be several smaller coins that will become the "accepted" ones in he future, for different purposes and also security plays in, and it will alternate after hacking stats and so on. So you can pay with several different ones, but maybe not btc in normal stores or websites. Because i believe that btc will become the gold, and be traded in a totally different environment. Definitely a long time but not long enough I think after looking at today's charts and graphs regarding how unstable the price fluctuations are. Pretty scary, if you ask a financial analyst who actually sees bitcoins as a bubble. But I don't there is a viablr candidate to replace bitcoins yet. Etherium can but it will take time as well.

I think none of the cryptocurrency that can beat the bitcoin. Bitcoin who first created and the price is already very high. And for surpass bitcoin will takes a long time.

It will last as the top investors choice as long as we do trust or the community will demonstrate positive and optimistic approach on its future. While Wall Street has their eyes on the btc there is nothing to worry about. However, BTC has to solve soon the problem of the exhaustion of its network and the high fees charged in the transactions. Moreover, the delay between its blocks is so high.

I do not think of that, I think that people who do not do this I think, because they do not care about the development of bitcoin at the moment, so they lose a lot because they have not done that much. I also think the main reason is the pioneer of bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first digital coin, so it is more attractive than any altcoin.

There is no yet reason for Bitcoin to go down because of how mainstream it starts to get now. Unless there will be another coin that will conquer the concepts of Bitcoin, not just conquer its price and long life. Its competitors and the government are one of the factors that can keep it from leading the cryptocurrencies. At government side, it is either banning the Bitcoin or regulating its price where it causes conflict for everyone earning at this coin.

you see bitcoin is not just sitting idle without any improvements! in a year from now (2019) we will have mass adoption of Lightning Network and millions or even billions of transactions per second on the second layer, decentralized and trustless. it is not something you can compete with as an altocin.

Bitcoin will remain forever at the top 1 of all currency, it will never fall because it is already built a foundation to all community here.

You know that Bitcoin is the mother of the cryptocurrency world, it is playing the pioneer role n this system. most of the payment in this platform is occurring through Bitcoin and it's the most dominating currency in the virtual world.
not only that but also Bitcoin is becoming an acceptable and trusted currency in many countries. besides this thing, Bitcoin is being used as a legal currency in many online platforms. so that as long as a new currency will not come as acceptable as Bitcoin until Bitcoin will continue to dominate on this platform and it will be the rolling currency in the virtual world. So no one can assume how many days Bitcoin will remain a leader in the crypto world.

the dominance of bitcoin decreased significantly from 67% to 36.18%
if it stays like this I guess bitcoin will become a dead coin  :-\

For me, bitcoin will be a leader in cryptocurrency for a long time, because bitcoin is the primary sources of the other cryptocurrency, and also bitcoin is the most expensive and most popular cryptocurrency of all. I just think that bitcoin will fall into the leaderboard if bitcoin reach it’s limit or some cryptocurrency become much acceptable to many users and establishments. :)

Nobody can give this answer for sure. But fact is that a lot of money was invested to build up the BTC infrastructure and because of this it´s not easy to kick BTC from its throne. Additionally BTC is the most famous cryptocurrency and a strong brand.

No one can really tell when the value of bitcoins will still be at the top of the market or not because bitcoins is unpredictable and the market is also volatile. You can always lean on positive speculations created by the bloggers to avoid losing your profit in the market.

We can go on all day beating this dead horse. Bitcoin will remain a leader, if not the leader, of cryptocurrency for a very long time to come, despite its position in that chart of dominance. If you dissect those numbers, you realise that most of the alts have got into the top 10 and top 5 purely on the strength of circulating numbers.

I think bitcoin will be the leader for an unforeseeable amount of time, or maybe until the cryptocurrency market exists. I can not be sure until when bitcoin will lead crypto currency, but I know bitcoin will continue to decrease and increasingly rare. I think it takes a long time bitcoin will be left behind by altcoin.

For the new generation start from millennium year 2000 high technology has rapidly changed. Many billionaires people makes another option  to make the people comfortable through bitcoin even if we don't know it's facilitator and unknowingly supporting all the needs of all people in terms of financial, and  I think BTC will remain and stay longer even if it is not accepted in some countries I think it will  last long.

For me ,I think that bitcoin will stay the best for a long term because for example when we see the value of the market cap  of this currency and the  other altcoins then we conclude that there is a huge  difference between them  so there is always a priority for bitcoin in many other things like the price, the volume ..
As well , I guess that there will be a development of some currencies and they may compete Bitcoin but this may take some long time  and I think that Ripple and Etheruem  will progress in a fast way.

Entire history of business and otherwise points to the contrary - after all, those that come into the market second have the ability to learn from the first and technologies to get old. Look at Google - not the first search engine. Apple & Samsung - not the first mobile phones. Skype - not the first messenger. Facebook - not the first social network. Etc. Etc.

Bitcoin, right now, is quite secure with its position, market-cap-wise, when you consider the rest of the cryptos that currently exist on the market. The issue that I see in the future is that there will likely be a lot of contention and speculation around cryptos like ADA and XRP if they continue to move in the way they have been over the past few weeks, especially considering that they are supported by a lot of external and well-funded businesses, in XRP's case, and shaping up to be Ethereum 2.0 and might be able to be significant in the future. I don't know what's going to happen but I have confidence in the community and the market to continue on regardless of whatever happens.

Positively i think that bitcoin will remain as the father of all cryptos,altcoins exist because of bitcoins idea though there were hard forks coming in but bitcoins still remain the strongest,BCH  had threatened some investors that might surpass bitcoins standing but it comes out that it was manipuĺated and cause alot of panic to bitcoin holders.Now bitcoin is still on the top though its price is not consistent due to votality but still afford to recover from the dip.I could see that it will rule the crypto world for a long time.

I agree to some extent with this, bitcoin is too popular but we must not get overconfident thinking bitcoin is always going to be number one, the issue with the fees is huge and people are not happy, we are close to get a solution with the lightning network but we are still no there yet and there is not a date yet of when that is going to happen and people are getting desperate because of that.

Theres a lot of prediction in the internet if bitcoin will still be the no. Cryptocurrency in the future I think theres a possibility it can surpass by another good altcoin in the future but who knows what will happen in the future since bitcoin transaction fee are too high and theres a lot of unconfirmed transaction right now that the main problem that bitcoin we need to fix.

Years ago on same question I would answer like many other did in this thread, bitcoin will stay leader in crypto for many more years. Now I ask myself the same question, 2017 woke up many giants, sleepy giants. What will happen this year is hard to say, and for next year almost impossible. How many alts now have price over 1000 dollars, how much is the cost to send bitcoins and how much it cost to send some other alt? Do you know how fast are the transactions? This things bother each of us who use bitcoins everyday. The fact is that new technologies and new coins are coming, can some of them be better then bitcoin, it can if bitcoin don't solve some burning problems, and that has to be done fast.

I think for the next 5 years Bitcoin will still be a leader then take advantage of this opportunity while Bitcoin is still king. Bitcoin will not last

Nobody knows for sure when bitcoin will be exist because it remains strong to beat the other crypto.

Nobody can tell because nothing last forever. And all things are temporary. Maybe in the next 10 years bitcoin will be gone or maybe it will be replaced by a newer version . But no one can really tell whats going to happen for bitcoin in the future.
