Title: Presentation
Post by: DennisD7 on July 08, 2013, 02:36:41 PM
Hello kids!
I have been around for a few months now, but I haven't had any reason to post yet.

After having read up on Bitcoin and mining I have decided it is worth a shot. For now I have just one GPU running (65 Mh/s) and I'm planning to get serious with the whole ASIC game. I have four orders of hardware from Butterfly Labs for a total of 134 Gh/s, and I am probably going to buy some more from KnC Miner before the end of the year.

I have also invested a large proportion of my savings in Bitcoins the last few months, and I'm expecting the price to go up over the coming years. I have used LocalBitcoins, as well as MtGox for buying. In general, I'm making long term plans - I'm thinking 5, 10 or 20 years for both saving and mining - wish me luck!

What more? Oh, I'm Swedish and I live in London, UK :)

/Dennis

I know, right? But as I said, I'm making long term plans and I have to start somewhere.

Mind telling me for how much are you willing to sell any of your pieces?

Thank you. I am quite new, but I admire BFL quite much.

Hope this won't get noted as a begging effort :/

Early May, so it's going to be forever until they deliver, I know.
I did however buy a ASICMiner USB Block Erupter today to keep me company.

Do you mean the BFL units? I don't even have them myself yet, so I won't be selling them for a few months at least yet :)

Sure thing - it is open information after all: http://www.butterflylabs.com/
I have paid them a total of USD 7010, including shipping.

Two 7 Gh/s at USD 374 each
Two 60 Gh/s at USD 2999 each
+ shipping

Cool move on putting your savings into BTC, and I hope the mining effort works out for you! Have you looked into any of the alternate currencies like Litecoin? ASIC isn't the only solution, there is good money to be made with GPUs in Litecoin right now, and it might be easier / quicker to get the hardware.

Thanks! It is really scary too, but I'm keeping my head cool.
I have glanced at some other ones, but I can't help thinking there will only be one real winner in the long run, and to me it looks like Bitcoin. Also I don't have any GPU rig to repurpose, I start fresh with ASIC.

Mining is not a good idea... It is too late now.
You should better put some money for speculating :)

Price is low, maybe you can still buy and make some profit in the upcoming months.

I'm doing both, I think if the price goes up it's nice to have a mining rig already running.
I have a plan to buy some BTC every month for the next 18 months or so.

Yeah, thank you. Part of me just wants to be a bitcoin miner, so the money itself is not the most important part.

Then no one can say jack shit to you Dennis, as long as you're doing what you want to  ;)

I'm preparing a bitcoin mining rig at the moment, and it's going well. Here is a mini-itx board - 17 x 17 cm, running windows 7. Next week I will have my first ASIC to connect to it, and of course I will put it inside a good case at some point too :)

I to am pretty excited about the opportunity to mine for Bitcoin's, and from what I can tell you can have a decent ROI if you are patient. I also placed an order from BFL, and even though they are back ordered, I really haven't seen anyone else stand out as a leader in rigs. I did see KNC and then yesterday I noticed on CoinDesk a new company called Krater opened...

Any who... would be fun to build one myself as well

I really think KNC will be a leading figure in the mining race once they start shipping. They went directly to 28nm chips, while Butterfly is using 65nm chips.
