Title: Mining with Rx 580
Post by: kandholabhavna on December 05, 2017, 06:15:23 PM
Hello fellow miners, I am new to this and about to build my first mining rig. I have already purchased 5 Rx 580's Aorus 8GB cards and have an old Corsair 430 watt psu and a AMD Phenom II processor. I need help in buying a new motherboard which compliments my new Graphic Cards and my old PSU and old processor.

First of all if you have 5 RX580 your PSU will not suffice because one RX580 would consume around 185w to 230w so getting at least another 750w PSU along with the PSU that you have. Another problem that you would be encountering is the motherboard for the Phenom II as of now it is hard to find a good am2+ or am3 motherboard along with a good ram with it. Even though you would buy it second hand components it might not be suitable for mining in the long run since it has already been used and you will be running your mining rig will run 24/7. I suggest if you have some money right now go get at least a Intel Celeron G3930 or a Intel Pentium Processor G4400 which cost around $42 to $64 at MSRP then get a decent H110 motherboard with it and at least a 4gb 2400 ddr4 ram.

+1 : it's gonna be really hard to find a motherboard compatible with your CPU

I suggest you buy a new set.

- The most well-known motherboard for mining is ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0, even if it's a little bit old now. It's the one I use, and it works great

- As suggested above, you can find some new motherboards now, such as : https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H110%20Pro%20BTC+/index.asp (https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H110%20Pro%20BTC+/index.asp)

And of course, you'll have to buy a new PSU. Maybe you can buy an Add2PSU adaptor, to use 2 PSU at the same time. That's what I do and it works great

Each RX 580 after modding bios gona take around 120W depending of the algo (ETHASH/Cryptonight...)
+ Mother board ...

You need 1000W minimun to be sure that you keep 10% of the power free.

I have 6 RX 580 / 2x HX 750W Corsaire.
From the WALL on Cryptonight between 860W to 900W (4900 H/s)
On Ethash is around 1000-1100 W (184Mh/s)

He has phenom 2 processor, h110 intel platform motherboard not compatible with phenom
You must buy one more psu around 1000W and connect green and one black with old, connect  to old psu all sys and one gpu.
All other gpu's to new psu
motherboard any amd compatible with your cpu and having 5 pciex slots
