Title: Reset switch
Post by: rizabbasi on December 05, 2017, 06:47:25 PM
Hi,

I pulled this switch from old Dell desktop. It should be working and hope can be usable. I have posted couple of queries on the image. That's here:

Thanking you in anticipation.

The reset switch on motherboards are just simply 2 wires if which you connect, the motherboard resets.

Like on the pic below if you short the two blue leads, the motherboard will reset - with any kind of switch really:

Look at your MB's documentation. FWIW, a reset switch or on/off they won't matter if plugged to (+) or (-) end on MB as long as you plug to respective pins.

Hi. I have couple of questions in my mind:

1) Are power and reset buttons same? Mine is reset button because it was on the back of the casing. It doesn't click but just comes up when pressed.

2) Would this thing fit in H81 as it is or need some change e.g. the black wire that seems unnecessary.

3) Is the image in my post a switch/connector or a jumper? Please see this warning for the placing jumper:

4)Would placing reset button instead of power button work?

5) Would the system be already in the ON state when powered on (its a reset button so does it assumes that system is already powered on or would I need to press the reset button twice to power on the system?

6) Can you please let me know in what position my switch will be placed on the motherboard. Here are two pictures, zoomed-in and broader snapshot of the motherboard area:

Thanking you in anticipation and looking forward for your valuable response.

In most cases reset switch landed under power switch connectors.
First find on mb fpanel connectors.

Hi, it was at the back of the case.

In the instructions to the motherboard, there is necessarily an order of the switch connection scheme.
