CME listing seems to be making bitcoins value go up almost almost as if its a fork coming up. How many of you are selling all alt coins at the moment for bitcoin?

it's expected most traders don't want to get left behind with bitcoin rally, but when bitcoin stabalize everyone will flock to alts again. though it's really wiser to invest in bitcoin atm since the trend now is going up and there's no reason for bitcoin to crash or what. Still holding my alts though.

It is based on what altcoin you are holding,but I agree with you sell your altcoins for bitcoin before the fork they you will have good profits but no guarantee that price will rise after the fork so if you want to take risk then go ahead and buy bitcoins.If you are holding ethereum don't sell it the price of ethereum also will bump in the coming 2018 I hope the price will hit upto $2000 due to many projects based on ethereum.

I don't think so, sell all Altcoins will cause regrets in the future but instead you should make 50-50 portfolio.
Only sellout weak currencies and maintain the strong one, selling some currencies and buying Bitcoin is still a good idea of investing Cryptocurrency.
You will be thankful for what you've done today in the future.

In addition to that, when Bitcoin suddenly falls and Altcoins will rise tremendously then you'll regret surely.
That's whay creating good portfolio for Cryptocurrency investment is a must. I prefer 50-50, 50% Bitcoin and the other half is for Altcoins.

It is bad time to sell your altcoin for bitcoin. The nearest fork will be probably in may 2018, but i am not sure

Check the BTC chart if it will pump more,if the indicators shows it will go moon again thats the time you need to sell your alts.

I was convert all my XRP and Eth to Btc, since both was not showing significant increasing signal price in market, so i decided to selling into Bitcoins. With upcoming Bitcoins fork, many people now buy and hold bitcoins for getting free new coin distribution, as i read it would be 'Super Coins'.

For me if users already see good income at the current value of the coin they hold it is good to sell them and hold their bitcoin but if the value of alternative coin is below on the amount when they buy it i think much better to hold and wait for the right time when the value will increase and it will gain a profit.


It is possible to sell their coin but it is good if you hold coin which is good for long term investment like ethereum, ltc, monero and bch these coin has a big possibility to increase its value and if you have this in the future it will helps you to get much higher profit.

I don't think it is a good idea you'll gonna sell your alts for bitcoin, if you're profiting a lot from alt why you gonna sell it but if not maybe you're not playing your cards right and not making the right decision like this one, bitcoin is an good invest you can profit a lot but you can have a profit much bigger than bitcoin if you just play your cards right on when to hold or sell your coins.

Already did that i keep only few coins that will have some news in december in hopping of price pump,and some shitcoins that might be pumped.Its wierd if you look at $ price most alts are up but still since most of us are buying them with btc we are at loss because we didnt stayed in btc

That would be the dummest thing anyone can ever do. Dont put your eggs in one basket. Diversify. As bullish as I am on bitcoin, I am bullish on bitcoin cash, ethereum, IOTA, QTUM, OMG and many other coins. Dont follow the crowds. Buy during dips.

First of all, I disagree that forks increase the value of bitcoin. Quite contrary, they take away a part of bitcoin value and eventually BTC value is decreased after the fork .

On the other hand: have you seen that MIOTA recently gained 100% ? If you are looking for that kind of gains, you can look at it. I think that bitcoin has universal and intrinsic value behind it, so in the long time you might want to buy it for those values. But if you are looking for very fast gains in a short time frame, there are better horses to bet on :)

i think its not the right time to sell altcoins only bitcoin is not increasing most of the altcoins are also increasing you have to wait for more time if you really want to make some real profit i think holding altcoins can make more profit than holding bitcoins

Just Hold it until the price of your altcoin is not in high price. And wait for bitcoin getting dump. Don't worry your altcoin is going to get high price! don't panic about that. It also have panic sell so bitcoin rises again. So hold your altcoin is much better to do.

I think, or sell, but already somehow late, since the market sank again with the next growth of bitcoin or wait. You can also purchase altcoyins, which grow with bitcoin.

Well I am selling of some of my stash on altcoins atm because I have gained a hefty sum of profit in them already. Nevertheless, I didn't sell all altcoins that I hold mainly because they have more potential for growth and I don't want to put all my investments in one basket. I have a good sum of bitcoin already so it would not hurt even if I leave more than 50% of my altcoins stash on altcoins. That way I am happy to see whatever goes bullish.

The only thing that will push me to sell my alts when it will give me a 10% profit gain as a daily trader i need to dispose my alts for a short period of time.

you should never talk about altcoins in general. which altcoin? not all of them are dropping or rising at the same time. you can see even now that bitcoin price is rising to the moon, there are still altcoins that are getting pumped real nice. and there are also altcoins that get dumped just because bitcoin is rising up.

instead of thinking generally, try and think more specific. choose altcoins which have potential, altcoins that are on the rise. for instance there are times when a random news comes out about some altcoin (like changing name!!!) and it leads to their pump. that is when you buy them.

and of course you always have the bulk of your investment in bitcoin since it is the only long term investment worth having.

Some alt is currently at the pump and here's a good time if you want to sell it for bitcoin. But if the price is still dump and still very cheap, I better hold and maybe pump next year.

You kidding me? The nearest Bitcoin forks will be in this month December There are coming 4 new hardforks such as Super Bitcoin, Bitcoin Platinum, Lightning Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash Plus

That means a lot of the free bucks to the bitcoin holders. but what will be happening if all of these forks will worth nothing in the future? interested to see about how the market reaction to all of these fork coin for sure.
My guess the price will be less.

if you think the altcoin already made its peak price then sell and buy bitcoin, bitcoin is the safest of all investments but it cant guarantee  great interest. If you want to invest and have great profit then invest with other altcoins if you want but it also come with a risk of loss. For long term investments choose bitcoin a surely have a strong results after years.

Personnaly i'm going to do the contrary. The Bitcoin value is too much up to the trend line, I think (and it remains my opinion), that the value is going to correct a bit.
I bought back some altcoins recently. Those one that are strong enough to remain stable when BTC pump and to pump when BTC crash.

For sure it is. Almost all altcoins prices falling down now, holding bitcoins now it's the best idea. I think in several years price will be for 40k of usd, hovewer i can be wrong.

It all depends on what alts you are holding and if you can get in some multipliers before cashing out. I am watching three coins that are turning bullish right now and are ahead of BTC in my portfolio. Everything else is red, so am hoping that those three coins will surpass the Bitcoin surge and do a home run for me. Ocourse time will tell how these three alts will perform so am holding them solidly for now as they are so early in their development phases and it would be a crime to sell them right now. I am looking to lock in at least a x 5 or x 10 multiplier from them before cashing out some to Bitcoin.

I think it is a little too late to do that. The price of bitcoin is very high in my opinion and there is no much recover in the past few weeks. I think it is better to wait for its falling.

I didn't sold my alt coins for bitcoin what I did is I sold some of my alts for my needs.  ;D But if you think that you had to catch up the CME listing and it's look on hype now, get your bitcoins now but if you had enough bitcoin already and you just hold it for future use just keep on holding it and it will be better if you'll add some more by selling your alts since having bitcoin is the most effective way of earning in crypto.

I dont think that anyone should drop your altcoins right now. The most are just really down and I think they will go up soon.

In my opinion, there are many many investors willing to sell their altcoin to buy Bitcoin. There are 3 hard folks in December and this seem make them crazy sell.

I think you should not be too hopeful of bitcoin as long as your altcoin still has potential then increase it even if you believe in your altcoin. indeed bitcoin is the safest and profitable investment is very large but of course altcoin also has enough value in increasing its price

I already thought several times about selling all the alternative coins and storing only bitcoin. But I do not want to sell myself at a loss. Only this is holding me back. I regret that I bought some altcoins

In my opinion about alt and btc. Bitcoin is surely a good investment because of its increasing price but it is not a guarantee that it will keep on increasing and will not drop down by the end of the year.So inorder to offset this risk, invest in altcoin, because when bitcoin price will decrease, most probably altcoin price will price.

Pretty late for that but who knows anything is possible with bitcoin.

Now all altcoins in negative positions. I don't sell them. Because they believe that they will rise from the bottom. Simply pour money from the violas in bitcoin seems pointless. Need to hold bitcoin and to earn on its growth.

if you get profit with sell your altcoin, then dont wait to long before the price of btc getting higher again and your altcoins will be dumped, because most of altcoins are not stable when the bitcoin price getting higher and some altcoins tendency to be dumped.

I decided to sell all my altcoin and buy bitcoin for investment. For the record, I never keep my altcoin for long time. Until now still believe bitcoin will give me income but not altcoin and I always about news. I don't care about news even sometimes give positive impact, news make me " panic " last time. now with the rise of bitcoin I think the right time to sell altcoin using bitcoin, because it would be helped by the very high bitcoin price and definitely very profitable.

Nobody knows but I think it might be too late to jump on the bitcoin train at this point. Bitcoin will do a correction at some point then alts will raise.

If you want to invest in bitcoin for a long term, it's good. But, if you stay with altcoin, it's good too, but for short term. You can get profit from them. I think, movement price in altcoin is good at the moment.

Bitcoin seems like going too fast in the previous days so it makes me think maybe there would be some people behind pushing it upwards to attract more people to join and then flip it afterwards when the bitcoin futures come. Whatever happens, I would just make sure to reap some profits from bitcoin by selling some of it in exchange for fiat. Some of my alts are down but I intend to hold them for long term so I did not sell them but I plan to buy more at the bottom.

It didn't even last a month for someone to double his money if he invested last month when the price is around $7,000. It's too good to be true but then it is true and others who were not able to get in the train and still doubtful about it are now bashing bitcoin.

Im keeping a healthy stack of both types of coins. Diversify your i vestments you don't want all your eggs in one basket. Also the new bitcoin price is due to new money i beilive... Alt coins didnt take a beating this time around which hopefully means new blood isnentering the crypto world

I do not sell my altcoin just to exchange with bitcoin because it is only a matter of time for the holders

My view is opposit to it. I think this is the time to sell Bitcoin and buy Altcoin. For example ONION raise to $3 from $0.70 more than 4 times in three week only.

I don't know about you guys, but my altcoin holdings have been doing great against bitcoin. For some reason they seem to just be riding the price rise right along with bitcoin so really I'm better off than if I had moved them all back into bitcoin. Going from $0.50 to $1.00 doubles my holdings whereas bitcoin may be guaranteed but still my respective gains will be less in comparison. Alts are making their comeback and bitcoin is just leading the pack.

Bitcoin and Ethereum will grow much stronger in 2018 so no need to take a risk in alts. This is 99% solid investment.

We are HODLers :D i did a big mistake yesterday. i dont have any bitcoin, i invested some altcoins and today they all dumped...

I sold most of my altcoins but i still hold eth and waves since they are both doing well against bitcoin in the past few days. It's always hard to decide when bitcoin is always like that.

This is why many people don't earn a lot through bitcoin since they dump their coins very quickly for short term profits. Everyone knows that the secret to earning big bucks in the crypto world is mostly through the long term HODL. Bitcoin currently is over 13k and I believe that it might go to 45k by this time next year which is why I am HODLING my coins. Bitcoin and Ethereum are the best long term investments according to me and the rest of the altcoins don't even come close in this scenario.

I think it is late to be selling your ALtcoins for Bitcoin now, the CME news has been in the public for some time and you should have known be news like this is going to drive the price, I don't think Altcoins can go lower than their current market value, so you should be buying instead of selling

Selling your coins for Bitcoin entirely depends on your goal. If you want to make the money that you want through Bitcoin then exchange your coins asap.

i knew Alts had it coming as BTC's potential is worth lot more. The futures trading is nothing when compared to the lightning network. The lightning network will skyrocket BTC's price when it is launched.

It is an interesting question. However, your decision depends on what alts you have, most of my coins are from bitfinex thus they have a USD or EUR pair and it always gives me a chance to get my USD/EUR value instead of BTC so it doesn't have to relay on it. It also depends on what kind of crypto enthusiast you are, I'm more in the long run for altcoins and daily trade btc/eth or any other volatile coins that I can predict easily.

Yup, I have taken most of my BTC, BCH, ETH out of binance. I think most of these alts still have a ways to drop. They are mostly just vaporware or have use cases that do not seem to be very profitable.

I still hold altcoin. from my experience altcoin will follow the rise of Bitcoin. but after bitcoin has a stable price. I believe altcoin will provide many advantages, as bitcoin prices are rising. it does not have to sell all altcoin to buy bitcoin.

I haven't been in alts for weeks now because BTC has been moving too much. When BTC stabilizes, I go into alts to try to increase my BTC holdings and don't even bother looking at the USD price. But mainly when BTC is relatively stable, I am trading alts simply to increase my BTC holdings. And then when BTC runs either direction I have to pull out of alts because they tend to suffer.

No way is the biggest mistake you will ever do if you will do this, altcoins will have a better profit than bitcoin plus bitcoin is not very trustable in my opinion...

I think that you should think over what coins all the same leave and there are promising, but everything is not worth selling though the investment in bitcoin is a good solution for such a price at the moment

First of all you need to know: Altcoin is a coin, BTC is also a coin and both prices are fluctuating. So when the ETH price of 0.08BTC is not sure when the ETH is higher when it is 0.07BTC, it depends on the price of BTC when it is. I bought ETH at 0.0684 BTC, it's about $ 194 USD, now it's about 0.0691 BTC, but it's worth $ 308. If you look at Altcoin / BTC you will see alt coin is very bottom, but as it was written Above, its USD price is not sure where.

you can divide your holdings from altcoins and bitcoin. if you cant really decide what to hold, then choose both. having this choice, there are some chances that you will earn profit from one of them, even if one of them gets dump, one of them will probably pump.

Even though owning bitcoins is a good idea that does not mean that you should sell all of your altcoins for bitcoin. Altcoins will also do better just like bitcoin in the future. You could stand to make a lot more from the altcoins you have invested in than with your bitcoins

If selling to my opinion is not quite right, but if it adds good assets. because we do not just focus on one coin only. choose some coins that have potential.

First of all you also need to know that the OP opened this thread when bitcoin was at its peaked, Hence his question about selling all our alts for bitcoin because there's where the money it. So obviously, at that time it was the correct decision because bitcoin really exploded at almost get to reached $20K.

But at this time, its no longer applicable, bitcoin is down and most of the alts are good investment because they are cheap and you can really do day trading and flipping it out to get a good profits. Just choose coins that has a low price and just ride it out specially when the price is being pump and then BOOM!!! sold off everything when your investment grow about twice or thrice.

I believe that now is a good time to transfer most of the portfolio to bitcoin. I keep at least 60 percent in Bitcoin. Then you need to monitor the market.

yes, now the market is down, I think this is the right time to buy some coins, I suggest to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum which are next saved in the next few months for big profit.

Keeping majority of your portfolio in Bitcoin alone is a risk as well. I think a much safer option would be converting your alts to bitcoin and bitcoin to USDT. The current market condition isn't that favorable. Maybe If the altcoins goes down more, You should sell the usdt to bitcoin and buy alts back.

Yes, I agree that selling altcoins will cause a regrets in the future. It is good that you are in a safe zone. Better idea that you invest it all in altcoin. For now, it is too risky to invest in your bitcoin. The price of altcoin is still rising up but it depends on what are you going to choose. The exchange of bitcoin can easily fall down. Better think twice for every decision you do.

I don't think about you folks, however my altcoin possessions have been doing incredible against bitcoin. For reasons unknown they appear to simply be riding the value rise appropriate alongside bitcoin so truly I'm in an ideal situation than if I had moved them all once again into bitcoin. Going from $0.50 to $1.00 pairs my possessions while bitcoin might be ensured yet at the same time my separate increases will be less in examination. Alts are making their rebound and bitcoin is simply standing out.

I think that panic selling could result a  indeed risky decision by this people needs to analyse previously to panic selling to let time for this coin to develop.

I think that at the end of this year, BTC will jump high and possibly make a great feat and you should keep the Altcoins up to that time and then sell them to make sure they will be profitable.

I do not think so. Maximum Altcoin is now down a few times. If you sell Altcoin, you have to pay a lot of losses. That's never right. Hopefully Bitcoin will recover. Along with this, hopefully the Altcoin will also be reclaimed.

that will  depend. lets say im not an investor rather im only working for a bounty and an airdrop but i decided to sell my coins at the dip . so i dont think that i will loose anything because i didnt invest at all on alts .

I don't think so. Why would anyone want to trade their alts for bitcoin? Unless of course it is a shitty coin, I do not think that it is a wise idea that you sell off your altcoins and then invest the funds in bitcoin. I would rather advise that if you want more investment in bitcoin and you have some extra funds, then you should invest the fund in bitcoin and not sell your altcoins.

selling is not the right way to do by this time, all altcoin value are not stable so better to hold for a while and be patience. if you have enough funds to buy altcoins then it is the right time for you to invest and take the chance while it's value are low

Everyone is doing that and it won't hurt to go with the flow at least to minimise your lose. But if you want real profit, you should stuck to promising alts because good altcoins would have a much more better come back than bitcoin can.

If the market price raise then that is the good time to hold bitcoin, it is hard to gamble for holdings of alts because there are lots of alts in the market that when the bounty hunters dump there was no chance for the coin to recover so it is better to convert it immediately to btc or eth.

I joined the crypto craze late but seen profits and a rally up my investment near doubled had no investment experience dumb money as they say. I took some of my portfolio out of the mark and slowly put it back in alts when BTC was $6000 apparently this was the bottom but have fully gotten my portfolio back a BTC $3500. I would recommend that in the next significant run up I will be pulling out of alts before a drop into Tether and BTC. My portfolio is not a significant amount but would advise any investor who wishes to stay in the market to invest the majority of their portfolio from alts to BTC the alts take the greatest hit but in a run up yes out preform BTC. It is easier to increase you investments in a bull market. I am currently saving money for the next bull run not even cost dollar averaging significant amounts of alts in a bear market accrue significant losses.

The value of a particular altcoin might be $0.15, within the next few hours its $0.07. Lets say you have 10k of this coin, when the price was $0.15, the total value of your coin is $1500 but when the price dropped to $0.07, the value is $700.This means you lost $800 within hours which is about 53%.  I always choose to sell my altcoins for Bitcoin.
