Title: Turn off 2FA
Post by: phenian on December 06, 2017, 04:04:39 PM
Hopefully an easy one
Everything is working today and I have the seed.  I have to return my work phone soon which has google authenticator on it.  Before I do, how can I turn off 2FA and keep my btc? I guess I can always send them somewhere else but I would like to keep them in Electrum

Thanks

It's easy and can be done if you have your seed. Just create a new wallet and choose the following:

Wallet with two-factor authenticator -> I already have a seed -> Paste your seed -> Disable; Now you can spend your coins without any 2FA code.

Or simply create a new "Standard" wallet with a new seed... and send all the coins from your 2FA wallet to the new wallet. Using a "disabled" 2FA wallet is not meant as a long term solution, it is meant to be a recovery mechanism.
