Post by: Hiroaki on July 10, 2013, 03:28:51 PM
Today Bitcoin.de announced a partnership with Fidor Bank AG.

Anybody knows what the impact of this will be ? What services will Fidor Bank offer to bitcoin users ?
Oliver Flaskaemper seems to do his homework regarding legal risks...Germany gets more and more interesting for bitcoin investors.

"With Fidor Bank AG as our Partner, the digital bitcoin currency, which was initially smiled at as internet play money, is increasingly turning into a serious alternative currency after only 4 years ", says Oliver Flaskämper, managing director of Bitcoin Deutschland GmbH.  "In the context of this cooperation with Fidor Bank, in the weeks to come, our customers will be given the opportunity to trade on bitcoin.de in near real-time using a free FidorPay giro account.  This is a great wish of our over 70,000 customers in Europe", continues Flaskämper.

While customers of foreign bitcoin exchanges generally transfer their money to foreign company accounts that are not protected in the event of insolvency, the monies of bitcoin.de's customers have always been deposited in their own bank accounts that are covered by the EU deposit guarantee in the amount of 100,000 euros per customer and account.  "In addition, bitcoin.de customers appreciate a European point of contact", adds Oliver Flaskämper.

Fidor Bank looks to me as a very innovative bank, compared to most competitors. In general [imo] this is great news for bitcoin ! It will make it harder to get attacked by ignorant journalists, politicians...
I am sure we will see a lot of new innovations coming up in the next time.

And it's great deal for the bank. I for myself looked on its website and decided to open an account. Looks fair and has outstanding interest rates for giro... at least regarding online payment. (I just say this cause I found out ...)

Ah, found the answer, sorry for you:

"Fidor Bank Kunden müssen die Volljährigkeit erreicht haben, und einen ständigen Wohnsitz in der Bundesrepublik haben."

= Fidor Bank customers have to be adult and have their permanent residence in germany

This is great news for bitcoin.
Fidor is indeed a very innovative bank.

By the way, bitcoin-central also is about to announce their new banking partner that will accept all EU residents..

Good news, this is a reputable bank. SEPA should also go quick through them.
