Title: [EDU] When leaving negative feedback, remember to make it negative!
Post by: DiamondCardz on July 10, 2013, 04:18:45 PM
I know it seems like an obvious title, but I'm seeing quite a lot of "negative" feedback on scammers which hasn't been marked as such. As a matter of fact, if the users that leave this "negative" feedback ever get put onto the DefaultTrust list, it would (slowly) start to falsely improve the trust rating of scammers.

THIS is positive feedback, despite the comment:

You must remember to mark feedback as negative!

The end result should look something like this:

It might seem like a small issue, but the system does detect it as positive feedback, so remember to mark your feedback as negative if it is negative!

I hope this post becomes sticky. I've seen a lot of positive negative feedback.

As long as 2 negatives won't equal a positive.  ;D

I gave negative feedback a few times instead of positive – I fixed it within seconds each time after review – as I have a tendency to check checkboxes as if they're all exclusively "I agree with the Terms of Service (ToS)." checkboxes. This is due to the ape-like training at registration by most Web sites.

Maybe theymos (https://www.bitcointalk.org/?action=profile;u=35) should implement a radio button instead of a checkbox. This would require no changes in the database structure.

Also, I think the either-positive-or-negative rating system is bad. There should be at least negative (-1), neutral (0), and positive (1). This can be easily aggregated via the Structured Query Language (SQL).

i think this button can take little bit away and make it's much bigger letters. Otherwise there maybe false clicks.

This.  As currently feedback is either negative or positive a checkbox is the wrong UI choice.  It should be a radio button (or dropdown list) which by default has neither option selected and attempting to save without explicitly indicating the type of feedback results in an error.

Someone sent me nagative feedback but accidentially made it positive.
Fortunately I cleared up the incident (look at page after reference) but the person never replied to my PMs to take the rating down.

These days, don't you have to select one of the options, i.e Positive , Negative or Neutral. I wonder why this thread is still stickied

If a user received a negative feedback incorrectly, what can he do?

If a user received a negative feedback incorrectly, what can he do?

You can ask very very nicely and they might concider it.  Do you have anything in mind?  A quick check of your profile page shows you have no trust at all.

One of the things about this forum is people can and will leave any kind of trust abuse, good and bad.

It's very rare that a moderator will step in.

Ok. Just asking, because I was scammed. I did a job and wasn't paid. I'm going to post a thread about it, but i fear reprisal from the scammer (he can negative me for revenge), understand? And I don't want to lose my Signature because it.

If they're on DefaultTrust I doubt they'd do that. And if they did truly scam they'd get destroyed in about 5 seconds flat regardless of whether or not they trust abused, meaning their trust would be worthless (if they were on DefaultTrust they'd be removed).

Thank you, already done. It was not very significant, but i would like to let it registered for who wants to know why he was negatived. Who lies and don't pay 1 dollar can steal 1.000.000 without much self difficult. Worse thing is his casualness about the case...

it can be hard to comprehend and can be meaningless to some people, abused by others.

if someone does business with you and it goes well, each of you should give the other a +1, goes bad, -1

the effect of that +/- 1 is in direct relation to their rank, forum position and own trust(i think)

you can play with the settings, but that is not something that effects your outward appearance.  some users have control over the account of defaulttrust, the high level of trust

these users are i believe all forum officials or admins/mods and that neg or pos trust will bear strong against you. others will have little or no effect and not even be seen by others, if you gave me neg/pos trust right now, no one would see it based on the fact that you are a newbie

some people abuse the system, there is a neg trust on me from a loan guy from recently that did not like the fact i posted a loan request in his loan request thread, lol

no matter, people are not stupid and can research things for themselves and see what kind of person you are.  his neg trust does not even show on my profile....which brings me to the little link under the trust number.

click a profile, click the trust link and then look just below that.  you will see a link labeled "show ratings", this refers to people that are not in the higher trust brackets and have posted any trust on you or that profile....that can be an interesting list, lol, enjoy the forum

For sure a lot of scammers out there are taking full advantage of this situations which will eventually lead them to increase their popularity so that they can wide known and be trusted by others even though they aren't the ones that is supposed to negotiated or conducted a transaction with.

I was a newbie too and many left negative feedback on my account....

That's because:

Quote

Here are the actual facts about your account:

- you woke up (along with 2 other accounts, of which you are probably both) specifically to defend Trade Satoshi against scam accusations
- you called the person complaining about being locked out of their Trade Satoshi account a scammer
- you posted mainly in the Trade Satoshi thread to question and ridicule people complaining about being scammed
- you tried to bribe to have your negative feedback removed
- you were defending allegations made by a known troll whose previous accounts were banned
- you then proceeded to open a flag on that account that was backed by a thread created by said troll
- now you are claiming Trade Satoshi is a scam in an attempt to distance yourself from it, but really you should just open a new account and start over, even though I know getting that first merit wasn't easy for you.

I have heard that many times, in fact many people trow me that you just said in my face all the time, and i have say it before that a negative trust is like a scar, you need to accept it and learn to live with it.

And regarding all those accusations i don't care anymore, anyone is free to accuse me of whatever, i will not hate anyone, i already accepted that, and i come here to this forum every day for the rest of my life.

I love you all guys, you are all my friends.
