Guys,after going through the pain of loosing my BTCs HAckers I keep learning more and more about the Cryptoworld.Watever amount of Cryptocurrenices you have secure them in your HArdware Wallets,its your money guys keep them safe,let them not drain out for these lazy hackers !

There is no doubt that hardware wallets are safest but it might be hard to obtain or need some time to get it at your doorsteps in some countries. The one from even a remote part of the country can securely store their bitcoin in paper wallet printed from offline printer + computer (computer with no other programs than inbuilt browser and bitaddress.org github file).

I am using this method to store my bitcoins safely till now.

I still think hardware wallet is a must as a crypto user, but as explained by user above it is quite hard to get in my country, no one is selling it yet. The only way to get it is to import it from overseas.

For now my portfolio isnt that much because I am pretty new in crypto, so it might not be that urgent to get one. But as time goes and so does my portfolio it might be a must to have one.

Of course hardware wallet is the best wallet to keep cryptocurrency. But there are a lot of people still don't wanna use it cause the price of hardware wallet like trezor or ledger nano s is not cheap and it's not available in their country as well. Beside, sometime they feel it's really difficult to use hardware wallet that why they only use online wallet or offline wallet with 2fa only and they think it's safe enough for their cryptocurrency :)

Yeah, though they say that using hardware wallet is safe, you will still need to buy it cause its not for free, so it means you will still need to spend money to buy these wallets. You know people nowadays, in order to save money, they will still choose those free wallets that to used these secured but not for free wallets.

While that is true it is required to buy a hardware wallet if you are holding quite a lot of money. I think it is wise to buy a hardware wallet if you want your coins to be secure. The second best wallet to secure your wallet will be a paper wallet. The people who can't afford to buy a hardware wallet can go for paper wallets but be sure to keep the private keys at a safe place. The alternative to hardware wallet is that you save the paper wallet into Pendrives and keep it offline all the time. This will act as a hardware wallet. Consider it as hardware wallet for the ones who can't afford to buy the real ones  :P

I can feel the pain, and it is very annoying if we get hackers, to be more secure if we want to invest in the long term we better use paper wallets to keep our bitcoin security.

Yes hardware wallets are the best for long time savings. Do not save your coins in exchange sites for a longer period.

Indeed hardware wallets is a must for a cryptousers especially for those who holds large amounts of bitcoins because nowadays i see some users who posted this forum they said they've been hacked and huge amount of bitcoins although some small time cryptousers don't afford it and don't want to buy so, they have some countermeasures to prevent them from hacking for example they are using desktop wallets (bitcoin core) or mobile wallets (like mycelium and coinomi) instead of exchanges like coinbase that requires you sign in with your email so, if you've been hacked lately i hope you learned your lesson.

With proper use of the internet online wallet is okay, just don't trust other sites that has a questionable domain and you can secure your coins. Anyways I agree with you being the hardware wallet the safest way to secure coins but as you can see not just anyone can have that, and other thing is that online wallets has now lots of features that hardware wallet can't have (e.g Withdrawing or Converting bitcoin to country's currency) therefore hardware wallet might be the best for security but it doesn't mean it is the wisest choice for wallets.

Hadware wallets cost a fortune and it is hard to obtain a good and legitimate one.

I think today even if you are the owner 0.5 Bitcoin is worth thinking about buying a hardware wallet. Exchange and cloud wallets are a direct way to loss of funds.

You are right. Buy a hardware walket at less than $100 and give us a peace of mind is very worth the price. There is no need to worry about leaking private key when we accidentally go to phishing website.

You don't need a hardware wallet for maximum security.  99% of people getting ripped off are keeping all their BTC on a web wallet or in an online trading account.

Following these rules will eliminate most Bitcoin rip-offs:

• Stop using web wallets
• Don't keep all your BTC in your trading account (if you trade)
• Store your Bitcoin using a method where you have possession of your private keys.  You can use the bitcoin-core client if you're willing to download 150GB of data.  Or you can use one of the thin clients.  Electrum is a good example:  Make a new wallet with a deterministic seed phrase, print it and keep it somewhere safe.  If your computer is stolen or destroyed you can regenerate the wallet from the passphrase.
• Stop using Windows.  The Windows world is full of viruses and trojans that can steal your wallet.
• Use a Linux computer with whole-drive LUKS encryption for Bitcoin.
• Practice good internet hygiene.  Don't download porn or torrents on the same computer as your Bitcoin.  Keep your Bitcoin on  a separate computer.  Bitcoin is money and it's serious business.
• If you're a profitable trader move your profits from the trading site to your secure wallet.  Don't keep all your eggs in 1 basket.

Are there any Hardware wallets supporting Multicoins, or are they just for BTC and ETH?

I read somehwere that ledger nano only lets you have 4 different coins in there at one time, surely that is not true?

Sure, bro. I never hold anything at online wallets for a long run. I want to say more I will never be able to relax and sleep if I keep significant amount of currency by unsafe way, I trust noone and take responsibility by myself. I only use cold storage.

Well yes hardware wallets are one of the safest place to store your Bitcoins, but not all people needs to use this such as small holders for them to secure their Bitcoins, and you also have to use other kinds of wallet for you to be able to spend your Bitcoins. The misconduct of other people is making those exchanges and online wallets to store their coins, that's not the right thing to do and people should avoid doing that as we don't have the full control of our money in there, and also those exchanges and online wallets are the most prone from hacking. And lastly to avoid being hacked stop clicking links that are provided by random people on the internet because there's definitely one phishing site out there and never connect your device to any public wifis.

While it is true that there can only be up to 4 apps installed on it at the same time, you can just deinstall an app and install another one within 20-30 seconds.
The coins on the nano s stay safe during the whole process. They are all derivated from the seed. There is just not enough memory on the device to have more than 4 apps stored.

How did you manage to lose your Bitcoin to hackers? Persoanlly I think that as long as you stay away from suspicious websites and you don't download any malware you should be 99% safe.

You should give some recommendations about Hardware wallet or source where users can read about it. As I know, hardware wallet is good enough only if you follow the safety recommendations, like: copy your seed file or password, save seed file on non-internet connected storage drive and other...

I personally never used Hardware wallet. I just try to say away from suspicious websites and I don't download weird/virused software. It's that simple.

Hardware wallets are really something that you should have because it keeps your money to be secured. Remember: that is your hard-earned money we are talking about.

sorry to hear that  :( iam also victims of hacker last year and its lesson learn....hardware wallet is the best wallet to keep crypto currency but  you will still need to buy it not all people want to buy this wallet because its not for free. price of hardware wallet like trezor or ledger nano s is so expensive.... but in order to protect our money we need to buy....

No doubt holding a bitcoin now a days is considering a fix asset to any person. And a big problem is that now a days some hackers easily hack online money so that thing will demotivate people to go towards digital currency. But through using hard ware wallet you can easily safe your money from the hand of hackers. And sleep well because you know that your money or investment are known in a safe hands. Anyway, what have been happed is a really bad thing, I have read reports that a man who lose a huge amount of bitcoin visit the  Aokigahara forest. It is good thing to have a hardware wallet but most of the time I re invest my bitcoins to make it snowball. I think I will try those wallet, I just hope that I don’t lose that USB thing

I agree with you these are the most important things one should take care of while holding BTC. The biggest problems what I find the newbies is that they put all their eggs in one single basket which makes all their eggs prone to anger if the basket breaks. Instead create multiple private keys and store your btc in different wallets. Keep nothing more than 0.2-0.5 BTC in one wallet even that is quite a lot for some people. Understand that BTC cannot really provide anonymity to your funds anyone can trace money in your account just through your addy. split up your holdings.

And it would be wise to secure bitcoin and other altcoins that we are holding to a more secure and safe wallet such as these hardware wallets et al Trezor or Ledger Nano.

Hardware wallets are the most secure ones, and worth the money if you are serious about Bitcoin and crypto in general. However, I have seen a lot of people losing their access to their crypto because they forget their pin and/or they did not backup their 12 word recovery phase. This is VERY important and you should keep that safe, and offline.

Actually that is NOT true. You can load 4 different apps (or less) at one time in the Ledger (to manage them) but you can hold all of the supported coins there. Remember that the coins are NOT physically inside the Ledger, it is only a device that holds your private keys for you and lets you sign transactions. Your coins are in the blockchain.

Hardware wallets are most safest mode to keep your BTC with you. Hardware wallets are easily accessible and can be carried to anywhere. Trezor and Ledger Nano are some of the most used BTC wallet now a days. Also don't forget to install a strong anti-virus also. Try to use Operating system Linux.
Its better to be take precautions then to regret afterwards.

Hardware wallets are secure, offline devices. They store your private keys offline so they can't be hacked, and  provide extra security  the hardware wallet is nearly impossible to hack.

I think it's okay to pay a little as long as the security is guaranteed.
I think the important thing is that our bitcoin is not easy to hacked and on the issue of costing I do not think it will ever be a problem.

I don't use hardware wallet, and I don't think that it is essential to hold your coins there. I have a lot of altcoins and i don't think hardware wallets support them.
