The main offender is Cryptokitties, with 15% of the total transactions, but the two next consumer contracts are also Cryptokitties related, so actually is probably consuming 30% of the ethereum network processing capacity.

Clear proof of an imediate need to implement scaling solutions to ethereum such as Plasma and Raiden or it will die of success.

The slow of Ethereum network is a test for Ether to prove is the next to bitcoins, with such abysmal performance, investors and traders will think twice of using Ethereum.

I'm generally disappointed, the etherium has always been very comfortable, unlike bitcoin, but now due to the loads it's all quite bad :-\

Quite expensive transactions too

At first I did not understand what kind of kittens everyone was talking about. Only a week later I realized that something was wrong. Kittens really heavily loaded the network. But now the boom has passed and the load has fallen, but it's still at a high level.

I think gwei fees sometimes reach incredible numbers is the main reason for the slowness. If you control the Ethgastation, you will sometimes face that the minimum safe threshold exceeds 40 gwei. When you try to    make transaction in blockchain with low gwei, the transfer process is delayed. What is more, there is a game called cryptokitties that causes excessive swelling in ETH network. As soon as possible, the update is inevitable for the ETH network.

If kitties are paying transaction fees, they are the ones paying for the network, simply supply and demand.

the slow number of tx on ETH was already a problem 6 month ago during quick ICO transaction.
ANd now a Kitties GAME... Vitalik as to find a trick to correct that probleme and soon, Tx demand will continue to grow exponentialyas soon as Big project will release their product on the network

Etherium it's time to prove that it's not in vain for 700 bucks!
I can not send coins to the exchange because of the congestion of the network. :-[

that so called cats or kittens game has became so ridiculous ether delta has became useless to trade with i am making purchases and nothing happened no transaction were made.

Ethereum network failed us all . So many people had big issues making transactions. Tho this doesn’t mean ethereum lost it’s importance for the crypto. We need to wait and see how they deal with it and will the network fail again in the similar situation.

Why it has failed all of us? It happened maybe a week ago, or less.


Are you updated about what is happening on the network? or you are just posting whatever that comes to your mind? I told you that it happened a week ago, and you are talking like if it is happning right now.


It was because of cryptokitties, and the network is fine at the moment. I sent 1 eth and it got confirmed in 3 minutes

You can send eth and it can get confirmed in 3 minutes, but how much you paid as fee? With extreme fees, I can make my bitcoin transfer to get confirmed in minutes too. The idea is being fast even with small fees.

As I heard, the problem ( caused by kittens game which does use Eth blockchain ) was fixed , wasn't it ?
Maybe this is an issue related to the pump in its price recently

Those cryptokitties somehow affect the ether network and gas price. I think ethereum deserves better so i'm a bit disappointed. Anyways i'm not sure if it's fixed yet or not...

it will take times to be fixed, number of Tx can't be changed like that, it's like for bitcoin, it need to have a concensus. until that it will be worst as project start to use the network on a daily basis.

Without going into the topic and not reading it, I already guessed that the reason for all these are damn cats. Yes, this is a serious problem now and it will be further, because cats tend to breed. I hope ether network developers will cope with this

It takes another hardfork to be fixed. Remember the bitcoin community consensus just not work right now. How the majority of bitcoin forks was coming without the community agreement just like a consensus.
The next ethereum hardfork already planned at Q1 of 2018. It will become another good update about Pos casper and the blockchain improvement.

But now the network has stabilized and the number of pending transactions has been reduced. I hope this problem of cryptokitties has been completed and no more cryptokitties will appear.

now i think its normal when you pay more GAS, i have same problem since 6 december, a lot of transaction pending, with 40-60 gwei its solved.

Well then, it simply means Ethereum needs to upgrade itself especially in terms of scaling. These last several days have been very hard for people that need to do transactions in the Ethereum network. Ethereum has to do something. Otherwise, people will get tired of this mess and will opt to get out of the network. Crypto Kitties have caused so much trouble in the network. Seriously clogging the network is not good because it will cause a lot of pending transactions.

The gas for a 210k gas limit at 60 is nearly 1 to 2 USD. It is unsustainable. We need protocolos that can short this out.

Everyone expresses dissatisfaction with the slowness and high price of the etherium transactions, but he does not have a real competitor if one can name a really working platform that can take a part of the market from the etherium - it's not there, only solid projects and empty words are nothing more. So we just wait, Vitalik already knew for a long time that the time has come for the next step.

Ethereum has some serious problem of scalability, if it won't find a solution at some point some competitor wil pop up and thake its place.

Yes Cryptokitties delivered a certain problem to the network Ethereum but I think in any case it was a signal to the developers of Ethereum so that such problems do not recur in the future.

I am one of those who was annoyed by the pending transactions in ethereum. The game called Crypto Kitties who used Etherdelta for the transaction have cause a lot of trouble and imagine if another game will be doing the same thing too. I just hope that the Etherdelta won't wait for another fork before solving this. As of today, the transaction seems normal and the processing is back to normal but what if it happen again? I just hope that there would be a proper announcement or something from the Etherdelta so that we would be aware.

Tens of thousands new investors are coming every day. This is going to grow more in the future.
I thing that all these people are buying for investment, thats why is this happening.
It's an issue that has to concerne the developers but it affects us.

Bitcoin at the moment is charging 10USD or so? And the miners chosed to do very little about it. Eventually, BTC will have less value due to that and more exchanges will move to pairs with Ethereum and others

I pay only 4 GWEI again with MyEtherWallet and EtherDelta.

indeed the network of ethdelta was touched with that kittens issue but know the network is much better now and the transaction are made easily but i still have a problem with initiating of etherdelta is still to be heavy to start.

If you think Ethereum does not have competitors you should take a look at the market. Existing projects and the new generation of blockchains that can eat Ethereum for breakfast and Bitcoin for dinner in terms of performance. Ethereum must move fast.
