Looking to buy a HW wallet, which one is best by all means, which also support alts.

Trezor or Ledger Nano S?

Both are secured and the only significant difference is its design and price, so in the end it depends in your personal preference.

As for the alts, Both wallets supports it but not all of them so if you have a specific coin that you want, you might wanna take a look at this:

It's a shame that you missed the black friday sale. Both ledger and trezor wallets are discounted that time. It ended I think in Nov. 27???

I have the ledger nano S and what really frustrates me, is that there is not enough space. It only supports 3/4 coins at a time.......... I dont know if trezor has the same problem, otherwise maybe you should consider trezor

I heard trezor have enough space but its not as secure as ledger is.

Yeah your right i heard trezor news before that someone hack their hardware wallet but i think they already fix and update the latest firmware of the trezor.. But i can be still worried about how they are secured compare the ledger nano s that i still didn't heard that someone hack their wallet. .
So for me right now until no bad issue about ledger nano s i suggest to choose ledger nano s than trezor.
But in terms of design trezor is awesome..

Design doesn't matter, all I concern about is security. Moreover, ledger support more alt coins than trezor but it has less space.

Each trezor is over $90 right now (the latest one) and it depends on where do you live. In a 3rd country, each trezor could be sold at more than x3 of the oficial price.


And in my opinion, the ledger nano is muuuch more better than the trezor wallet, only because of the design and the hardware.

Maybe the trezor is very handsome, but you must know that it is more flexible than the trezor and it can easily be broken, and it is not happening with the ledger.

Obviously that if you take care of both, there is nothing of what you should be worried about.

But i am talking about LONG TERM.. that is why the ledger is the best one for me (and it is less than $69)

I have not missed the the black friday sale, already in transit 2 Ledgernano and i think it's more better then Trezor(design, upgrade, supported Tokens)
  

Both are good wallets but majority prefer to have ledger nano s but when it comes to security, you don't have to worry with any of them.

Both are good and both supports more than only Bitcoin. It all depends on what you like, I like the Ledger Nano S as it is easier to use and to setup and is more newbie friendly compared to Trezor. Beside that Ledger Nano S is also newer than Trezor , it has been realised some time after the Trezor was already out.

I have my ledger nano S and don't have any issue about it, it's easy to use and much better it's cheaper than the trezor, tho my first choice is trezor but when I got my ledger I changed my mind and don't want trezor anymore since at that time trezor hardware was hacked but the only thing about ledger is it doesn't have larger memory to store some apps as mentioned few post/s above.

I have ledgerwallet and I am very content with it. There was a recent hardware exploit that took advantage of a design flaw in a chip used by trezor. Trezor has patched this with a firmware update, but keep in mind that it was a hardware problem patched with firmware. I am not sure if a similiar exploit can resurface.


There is no known attack for the ledgerwallet, and they use a different chip than trezor.

Then I'd probably go with ledger

I currently own a trezor only because of the period it has been around. Ledger is also a better product and it's most likely that any new coin would be integrated faster in ledger than trezor and ledger has better durability as well.

Trezor has a more like a old school design they did finally release a new model after years which looks decent and is more durable than the previous nevertheless i would say buying anyone wouldn't make a difference but buying none is not recommended.

But I heard that trezor hardware was hacked so its not safe.

It's a glitch as they like to name it, which even if so, is a horrible flaw. I read that there is a simple version, which in order to obtain all sensitive data that isn't meant to leave the device itself, requires an entity to obtain your hardware wallet physically to get it disassembled, and a more 'advanced' way where disassembly isn't required. In both cases the hack is only viable when an entity has managed to obtain your device physically. It can't be done through the internet or whatever. In other words, for one aware of how to utilize this hack, your hardware wallet doesn't offer you any security over a paper wallet containing your naked private key. Not sure if the newer devices being shipped still have this flaw on board, but it's definitely concerning.

Yes. I agree and same problem is faced by me too.

Those were old news, anyway, trezor firmware is not safe enough if you are looking to hold more than a whole bitcoin in there.


I have a ledger, for me, it is much more safer than the trezor, and it is more pretty! if you are a man, it makes you look like a rockstar, haha, just kidding.


But yes, the ledger has/support a lot of coins compared to the trezor.

On top of this, anyone thinking that both of these "advanced" methods would not be achievable by thieves need to realize that rather than average people, these thieves are hackers who most likely know their way around both the software and the hardware of a Trezor. Furthermore, if someone who was non-technical managed to get hold of your Trezor, they would not need to know any technicalities to steal the contents provided that they can access the internet, and by extension, a more technical person who would be able to do it.

It is truly no different than a paper wallet in this sense.

Either of them will be better than any of the desktop wallets. I have a Trezor personally but would probably recommend a Ledger due to it not being as expensive. If you are holding a large amount of Bitcoin then you need one of these to assure that you never lose them through hacks.

Last time when I checked the ledger nano S, there were very few or only the bitcoin coin that was supported and seeing how many coins are added seems that Ledger Nanos S will become an All-In-One Wallet for all coins bitcoin and altcoins and this motivates me too buy a ledger nano S in the near future and probably suggesting to my friends after experimenting with it.

Trezor is pretty old in the market, ledger too but the nano S is new(before the blue version), I currently have the Ledger HW.1 and it is pretty easy to use but only bitcoin is supported as far as I know.

someone told me you can only have 3 coins at the same time on the nano s
can someone pls check if you can have more on the trezor?

Go with ledger nano s, it supports lots of altcoins and it's cheaper than trezor.

You can manage 5/6 altcoins at the same time, you can uninstall and install apps again, you won't lose any of your stored altcoin by uninstalling altcoin app.

Yes you can multiple altcoins in the ledger wallet but I do not understand that you need this wallet to have bitcoin or alts. There are many desktop and papaer wallet being used in the market.
Then you choose the hardware wallet paying the money to buy the hardware and all. I think it is simply waste to have find there you can have paper wallet instead.

Seconded to this. I don't actually make comparison among the 2 since I didn't able to make use of Trezor but with Ledger I would say this is a best choice for me this is why I didn't decide to look out for more like trezor and as being said its way more cheaper but still have the same purpose. The thing here is that you can store up various coins and its somehow a user-friendly thing for me when storing up. Not to complicated.

What is the current price of trezor on the actual website now? 

I think the drop test comes to mind here. I have bought both devices and I am impressed with Ledger's protective metal plate that slides over the screen to protect it. I have dropped both devices and I squirm every time this happens with my Trezor. I do not feel the same way about my Ledger, because of this little metal plate.

Some people are working on a protective cover for the Trezor, but I feel that it just adds to the overall cost of the device.

Both of these devices are very good, but I like the Ledger just a little more. ^smile^

So it's settled then if you know the advantages rather than having more coins on you wallet or more secured one which on will you take? For me it doesn't matter how many coins it will carry the thing is security is the most we all want to have. I know your not being serious on saying that trezor wallet is not as secured as ledger well at least it won't fall apart that easily.

Trezor black costs €89 and you can choose colors from white and black comparing to the price of Ledger Nano S it costs €79 which is cheaper but it comes with shipping fee.

Same on my side, I don't own Trezor but might plan to buy in the future but for now I'm happy that I have my Ledger Nano S and they are somehow active on upgrading their apps.

Very handy and easy to use but it can be the same with Trezor if I have tried it out.
