Title: Best way to store my coins safely and easily?
Post by: Empowered on July 15, 2013, 08:30:34 AM
Hey, I'm fairly new to bitcoin, but I have a respectable amount now, and was wondering what the safest way to store them is. I've preordered a Trezor, but that doesn't ship until at least November.

I'd like the ideal way to store my bitcoins quite safely, without having to buy another netbook and not connect it to the Internet, etc... I do have an 8gb USB stick though, if there was something I could do with that.

Right now I'm just using blockchain.info, with double passwords and 2FA, which is probably fine tbh, but I'd like
Something just a bit more secure, but I don't know exactly what. Obviously paper wallets aren't going to get hacked, but I want something that still gives me the benefit of having bitcoins in the first place - quick spending. I'd prefer not
to have to go through a super long process everytime I want to spend some coins.

What do you guys suggest I use? :)

You can't have max safety AND a fast BTC spending solution at the same time.

What He ^ said, BTC slowish speed means it is so secure.

I would only bother with a cold storage if I had 100+ btc, there's blockchain.info for everything else.

If you have lots of BTC in your wallet,
and you want to keep them safe,
you can backup your wallet in cloud.
Don't create your password related to your normal life or
store the password on the computer.

When you try to transfer your BTC,
you can use a safe computer only for the transaction purpose,
don't use it on other purposes.    ;D

I figured, so I guess blockchain is probably
The best for a mix of the two?

Maybe I should have a max security setup where I keep the bulk
of my coins, then a blockchain "spending account" for small purchases. Hmm

What is the most secure procedure I can use without having a dedicated computer?

if you use it, always use double authentification + protection.
And a complex and UNIQUE password!
