So if BTC community keeps fighting each other with these hardforks it will probably be the other way around: alts will kill bitcoin.

altcoins exist because bitcoin exists and as long a bitcoin exists and it is rising, altcoins will exist. because us bitcoin investors want some place where we can easily invest our bitcoin and get more profit out and what place better than a shitcoin that is getting pumped and dumped.

I have to disagree. Altcoins has a different market. There are a lot of hardcore altcoins investors who doesn't want to invest in bitcoin. So the market will not die down easily. And as much as investors flocking to the bitcoin ecosystem, there are also fresh blood being pump into the altcoin as well. Maybe bitcoin is really gaining a lot because of so much positive news around like the traditional financial institutions getting into the bitcoin picture.

But there are a lot of companies who are partnering themselves in altcoin like Microsoft, IBM and Accenture. And recently, Ethereum and IOTA is booming because of this news. So I doubt that altcoin will be dead, on the contrary it could boom next year.


If my memory serves me right. This year March - June is the best months for bitcoin. Ethereum hit its all-time-high during that time and a lot of altcoins also has a massive jump. Let's see next year though, but I'm counting that it will be the same.

Both bitcoin and altcoin need each other to survived, Its a perfect example of homogenous market.

I agree with you in terms of short term trading. BTC is king because of mass adoption. Everyone tom, dick, and harry is just now finding about bitcoin causing the price to surge higher. However, when these toms, dicks, and harrys learn about how much faster, more scalable, more secure, and more anonymous other altcoins are, im confident they will also then move their investments from bitcoin to altcoins.

Strange thing to say really, at a time when so many alts have reached new heights this year, and even these few days. I am holding Litecoin, which has never been so high, beyond all my expectations.

And Bitcoin has given birth to at least two new altcoins this year alone, remember Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold? Would they be around if not for Bitcoin? Short and simple answer is no.

I dont think altcoin will die on 2018. Bitcoin is unstoppable continue rising nowadays, but we dont spec what happen on the next day, months or years. Other altcoin give us a better profit to gain, its a good terms to claim.

BTC is king (for now), no question about that.  It's value is because of fame being the 1st.  No one can take that away from it.  These threads fitting coins against each other are USELESS.  Coins/tokens co-exist...some will die, new ones will be born...life goes on.

That said, BTC (being the 1st) is a dinosaur and trying to evolve (thus all the forks) to be more like the new "alt coins".  It's future depends on how well it will do.  Otherwise, it really won't have any use other than "holding wealth" while the rest have target future use.

For investors, both BTC and alts offer many opportunities, just waiting to be exploited by those who see it.  I am sure the ones who believe only on one will miss out.

The only thing that is going to happen is that most alts which have no significant usage or which doesn't have a place of application in the real world are the ones that might not be able to survive longer. But for others, they will always be there.

Expecting a real stop from bitcoin is not that for real. Altcoins are losing value against bitcoin. This is not a new thing on exchanges. Bitcoin won't kill them they have a mutual relationship but it will dominate hard over the altcoins.

Some altcoins do have different markets which means no matter how the price of bitcoin soars up it has nothing to do with those alts even though most of them do rely on bitcoins price but yet saying that they would gone because of btc then its an impossible stuff because theres a strong support and people who do buy on those alts which means it would stay no matter what as long theres a market then bitcoin cant do nothing and also come to think off that its much better to have alts because it would extent the possibility on making money even more rather than on having bitcoin alone.

Bitcoin & altcoins will usually co-exist for long. Bitcoin will slow down shortly, then all major alts will make a high jump :)

Most alt coins are completely useless and will die. A lot of altcoins are scams that will blow up soon enough. But a few alt coins have a bright future. The problem is finding the few valuable projects amoung all the rest.

Actually bitcoin's rise is good for alt coins in long term. Bitcoin will be much better in 2018 that's right but alt coins will also benefit from this. Only weak alt coins will be effected negatively from this and i don't think that's a bad thing because there are lots of useless alt coins that created only make money by greedy developers. Other strong alt coins like ethereum , waves etc will only get better when bitcoin gets better.

Me too, it may seem like bitcoin is killing all altcoins now, but I still believe that it's just the law of supply and demand. Right now, bitcoin is so in demand due to it's good price point that it has kept attention away from altcoins in the recent weeks. That being said, I think once the bitcoin surge subsides and settles down, then that would be the chance for altcoins to be reinvigorated and take back it's value, possibly have a surge of its own.

Bitcoin may well be considered altcoin killer, especially now that it has been racking up in value since last month. Following the current trend, if you would see how the surge is affecting altcoin prices, then there is a big chance that it would happen if it continues. What I fear if it will is that the market will be dull and one-sided because bitcoin will only be the cryptocurrency left in circulation, and it would actually affect other areas of the crypto market like ICOs, which is mostly dependent on altcoins.

Maybe your are talking of reducing altcoins market price when Bitcoin price increases, but the word kill is far from happening as exchanges wont be profitable anymore to traders, as you can see it's one factors that shakes BTC's price, the whales.

Mistake, only those projects that are not worth a thing are going to disappear, all the projects that have valuable technology and good developers are going to flourish which means we need to invest in them as fast as possible since those coins are going to skyrocket as well.

Bitcoin is already overhyped, overpumped and congested. Thanks to futures its price can be stabilized (but does not actually mean it will), preventing from falling. But it prepares lots of space for good altcoins.

I don't think so, altcoins has their own supporters and market to depend on. Some price of the altcoins  are also on uptrend even there is a non-stop price surges of bitcoin. Stable altcoins will going to survive even if bitcoin is surging and there is always a time for them to rise up after a prolonged dip.

do a quick research about that specific alt that you want to invest and see if that alt has a good background. you can also based on some users feed back and reviews about that coin.

Altcoins arent dead. Maybe you said that because of the continue rising of the bitcoins. We all dont know what will happen in the future , who knows, maybe there are altcoins there that are waiting to rise and overcome bitcoin. For now, let us continue to ride on the opportunity that bitcoin has given to us. Keep on investing on bitcoins and im sure it will continue to grow in the future.

Bitcoin cannot take pretty much everything with it. Some altcoins are solid and they have some good backing of investors.

The only coins we will end up see being taken down would be some shit coins without a real product and just there for playing means for pump and dumps. Those are the coins that we will end up seeing packing their bags of shit coin and walking away from the market.

I don't think that bitcoin will kill the altcoin. When I first join the crypto market then I know the only one coin "The bitcoin" and after some days I got to know about the fact that there are lots of coins which I can trade and make money. Now as too many new people joining the crypto coin market the same thing is happening for many of them. Maximum of them are putting their money directly on bitcoin, but as they will become familiar with the other coins they will trade with the altscoin too.

Thus it might be otherwise. altcoin that will kill and make bitcoin fell. not forever bitcoin will be at the top because the longer the bitcoin is also increasingly depleted and will be replaced by other coins.

Not all Altcoins, but I am sure the space is going to end up being wiped clean from shit coins as they will not even have a chance to breathe, let alone survive. Those coins without products will really end up suffering it the most in the long run. I guess we just have to see how things eventually turn out in the coming years for most of them.

As per my analysis, I am not seeing any big threats to altcoins due to rise of bitcoins but altcoin will enjoy free value appreciations along with bitcoin's ride.

Yes If it was so then XRP, LTC and ETH would have not reached to this new all the  time high prices. How would they achieved it meanwhile when BTC is super high. Look at XMR, ADA, WAVES, QTUM and many more who are at its best right now. It proves that people consider altcoin as a meant for good investment as well.  Bitcoin role is just like a leader in the crypto it keeps on promoting the other coins with itself.

The problem is few alt coins are able to sustain the big BTC rise. But I think some will outperform a lot, but you never know which in advance.

Bitcoin isn’t going to kill any altcoin. Markets are connected to each other and bitcoin benefits from existence of alt coins. Bitcoin can’t go up forever . It will go down soon and alt coins will get back to power again. This is like a cycle. There is also that fee problem lately people will try to avoid making bitcoin transactions if fees keep on being that high.

Currently altcoin prices are rising again after a long decline due to bitcoin price increase. Capital from altcoin is being withdrawn and transferred to bitcoin should make the market more volatile. But I think the crypto market will stabilize after 2018.

Will hardly happen. Altcoin will continue to exist and grow despite Bitcoin's rising prices. I think it will affect significantly but it won't reach to a point when Bitcoin will eventually kill all altcoins. We have to consider that Bitcoin and Altcoins may have different uses. The majority of the altcoins are highly specialized in its uses, so I think they will still continue to exist independently of Bitcoin and its fate.

The point is altcoin still active on its development. But remember the bitcoin has a relatiuonship to the massive adoption of the crypto. When bitcoin grows more and more. The altcoin demand will be jumping to the bitcoin. Panic sell, flash crash and another bad thing will be happened in altcoin But the important thing about this will be temporary.

Bitcoin won't kill altcoins but it will kill shitcoins. Legit altcoins grow when Bitcoin pause its rally. Right now we are in a long bull trend, maybe the end of it. Whole market will lose %90 of total marketcap when at the bottom of bear trend. Bitcoin won't be the only one affecting this, but there is still time for that.

It kill bitcoin if we summarize all of altcoin value in one package but for now , I can say altcoin still can't beat bitcoin as far as I've experience trading over 3 years.
LTC is the coin that I thought will able defeat bitcoin but the fact is bitcoin still stay on the top

If you consider from a month now their has being a good rally in the prices of altcoins which is due to BTC price rise and getting the future listed in exchange . So in coming time it might be possible that other altcoins will also get listed and this will be a booster for such coins.

I don't think so. In fact there's even a possibility that bitcoin will be killed by the other altcoins. Just as bitcoin  gained popularity and strenght so will other altcoins do. They could co-exist but i think there's a small chance for bitcoin to kill them all

very much agree, i think you are just looking at the total price versus the total price of alts but if you look at the difference which is the change rate alts has been faster most of the time.

Ya now the price of some altcoin also raising.I think you heard about lite coin price raised.It's raised to the next value of 300$ and the price of Ethereum price raised to 670$ from the value of 500$.As like bitcoin price altcoin price also raising in good manner.So altcoin also survive as like bitcoin.

I guess Bitcoin will not destroy Altcoin, it can be used as an investment solution and trading. Altcoin also has the potential to bring in many multi-fold profits. But I also do not think that Altcoin can beat Bitcoin. Bitcoin will always be the main and will remain that way. Bitcoin is currently not only used as an investment, but now Bitcoin has become one of the international currencies used by various communities in various countries. Although not all countries accept Bitcoin, but people will still be able to use Bitcoin with various loopholes and various techniques.

It's impossible that this would happen because bitcoin for what I understand is that it rely on altcoin, what I mean is that in exchanging altcoin to fiat it will cross first to bitcoin. This help the btc to be more in demand and for me it is impossible that altcoin will die in 2018.

Altcoins was not kill by bitcoin, however due to high value of bitcoin price, more altcoins will be affected because their price in the market were fall down immediately. Lol no never altcoins are not going to die. yes, there will be some alts which will die over the time. but fundamentally strong alts with a community will survive and actually do great.
There will be a time in future where BTC will put pressure on alts but as the current market, the alts will have their time too.

Altcoins that backed up by good developer teams and strong community will never die, they will keep on improving the project to make it up to date. Look at the existence of litecoin, ethereum, monero and ripple. They are some of example of altcoins that backed up by great devs, I doubt they will die in the near future. Last week Alt coin market was reached green symbol because Btc was going down.But in this week btc continuously growing up I think that's reason is main fact to again down alt coin.

Not at all. Bitcoin has it own value and altcoin as it value. Each coin is survive in Crypto World based on their potential and power. Not the valve of bitcoin is raising now,the value of Ethereum, litecoin and some other coin. Did the bitcoin had influence in this raise ,not at all. We all ready know that whenever bitcoin charts are all green , the altcoins one goes under and the market suffers of a very big dump but we shouldn't forget that altcoins were derived from bitcoin and bitcoin is limited in number unlike other altcoins , the day that all bitcoins will be mined people will be obliged to use alts , therefore i don't think that altcoins will ever die .

The only thing what Bitcoin will kill are those many shitcoins! But there are still very good projects which will survive.

Oh, you! I know from my own experience it's so difficult to want Bitcoin to come up, when in general all of my alts die in the process. Only Litecoin has finally bucked this trend, though now that Bitcoin is surging to new ATHs, LTC is struggling to keep at it.

But yes, I do see still value in buying alts, when you think buy entries are there. If I look at btc losses from alt buys, I feel bad. But when I think, hey, at least fiat wise they are good, and I am diversified, then I don't feel bad at all. Can't win them all, and like you said, risk/reward awesome.

Most of the alts already pretty much dead. Does anybody ever remember zcash, stratis, eth classic at all? They all made their way to the top once and disappeared then.

Even good old monero dropped from the top 10 list from time to time. There was 2 coins which stayed around longest  where they are today:

1-Litecoin
2-Ripple

Ripple is a manipulated piece of shit tho so I wouldn't trust that one but litecoin isn't going away. That's all I know.

Rest are like eth, iota and other crap can be replaced by a better one overnight.

I am expecting a huge BTC run this week, and a bloodbath on alt markets.

Last couple of days everything was green, which I'm glad about, but that kind of growth is not healthy and I expect major correction (-30%+ on most of altcoins).

I do not see that ETH can be replaced at some stage sure they have to solve the scalability issue for payments asap but apart from that? A lot of things happening in crypto evolve around Ethereum like promising use cases like Powerledger or Wabi. I see more risks in the future for bitcoin than for Ethereum.

P.S. There is more people that got rich with ALTs than with Bitcoin.

On the contrary, I believe that this great growth in bitcoin is making more necessary than ever the existence of altcoins that can complement the functions that bitcoin is failing to satisfy due to the high cost of transactions and the usual slowness of the network. Perhaps one of the reasons why altcoins such as Ripple, Litecoin and BitcoinCash are growing is because they can adequately meet the ordinary payments with low fees and quick transactions.

If the bitcoin continued to rise in the year 2018 and would not be able to stem then it could just be altcoin will experience a downturn and the price is getting lower because devotees are also getting a bit.

If only it had happened for sure there is an imbalance of the price of the coins in the market which resulted in very high bitcoin once while the other coin is extremely low or even fall. but hopefully not because altcoin is also still needed to balance price bitcoin circulating in the market.

It is true that bitcoin's value continues to grow from time to time, but it does not really guarantee that alcoins would becomes useless against bitcoin. I'm quite positive that someday there will be a time when an altcoin will have a purpose that bitcoin cannot have, and that's how bitcoin will be defeated.

I am so glad that bitcoin is now in the highest rate than other coins. But killing those altcoins can make me sad too because more Bounty project are giving rewards by altcoins, and i don't like the idea of altcoins being killed. Altcoins has potential also to grow.

I can say to this not all altcoins will be kill by bitcoin. Although bitcoin is the dominant amongst other cryptocurrency but some altcoins also competing and has the potential to grow. Altcoin are also profitable so it will not be killed by bitcoin.

I don't think bitcoin will kill altcoins, there are some altcoins that are very promissing in the use of blockchain. Maybe a lot of them will fall, but there will be survivors who will be very big.

I agree with your raised points. I don't think altcoins, even if it is in a very vulnerable state right now, that it can be killed off that easily. Many reliable altcoins like waves and eth has been part of the cryptocurrency market for quite a while now, which means that is a good indicator that it can withstand any changes that will be brought about by the changes bitcoin sparks in the market. Also, it won't die because developers won't allow it, they have means like pumping more coins in the market, your inciting more trades in order to get people's attention to it, which would amount to more trades and transactions. Also, the increase in value bitcoin sees now is, in a way, due to altcoins. The more people converting their altcoins to bitcoins, the better demand it gets which converts to a better market value.

Profitable is question for altcoins. Most of them are manipulated and their price may go lower at any time when there will be huge interest to Bitcoin.

As far as i can see the reason why Bitcoin is much popular its because some merchant vendor is using it and being accepted as payment. And, also it is trending all over the world, people may think that this is a good investment that can earn their profit.

It was not literary kill, maybe it was happen because more investors are attracted to bitcoin instead of altcoins, but if you review the all trading sites. Almost all altcoins was in color green so it means that most of crypto currency in digital exchange we're increasing their value. It means that bitcoin together with the altcoins are increasing simultaneously.

So if we summary it, all crypto currencies are increasing trends, maybe it was happen because thru help of bitcoin more users were started to trust in crypto currency.

As long as bitcoin can not resolve the transactions fee there is no way on earth bitcoin will be used in daily basis. Most people choose altcoin for transfer between exchange or deposit in some website which accept altcoin.

Many projects are worth nothing but have created many coins, it is these coins that will fall in price, and workers, good projects will grow in value and exist.

If you don't really trade then you have not experience the inverse ratio of bitcoins and altcoins. This has been historically done over and over the past years. When bitcoins go up all alts usually go down and die, well not die die. They just go really low and there would be anymore equality. People will see that prices of alts are so low and they will end up buying those back and bitcoins will also go down.

As Bitcoin rises in value it will stabilize and become less fluid - for this we're probably talking $1m per coin - rather than kill altcoins it will encourage investment and alt currency pairing - much like the Norwegian currency is used in FIAT markets.

We know all that Bitcoin is the best among all the cryptocurrencies but the possibility of putting the altcoins behind is the impossible thing to happen. If Altcoins will going to be dead it does not because of bitcoin and I'm sure if that would happen to alcoins then same thing will be for bitcoin. BTC might be the flagship of crypto currencies but I strongly doubt it when it comes to evaluate the tech specs. The all PoW logic is a dead end in the long run and the first signs are already there with alarms coming from different sources complaining about the BTC network power consumption.

Bitcoin is now tamed and a lot of altcoins are recovering or rising. I also did not expect altcoins that was supposed to be dead that are coming back to life like Siacoin and Bytecoin which is now back in the game.

The Crypto world is decentralized rather than centralized. The death of a coin depends on the user. if the demand for the coin increases then the price will rise as well, vice versa. What resulted in the dead coin was the absence of the user using the coin.
So it could be the bitcoin that died because of the request or the user moved to another coin eg ethereum or altcoin the other. Likewise otherwise altcoin will die if the request or users move to bitcoin. Yeah we will se that in the future.
