Title: Coinbase - Did not send the correct amount to my Bitcoin address
Post by: geogr13 on December 11, 2017, 03:31:23 PM
Hello everyone, please let me know if anyone else is having issues with COINBASE.

I sent two transactions of $30 + plus fees & $35 + plus fees , and only $$19.28 were sent on the 1st transaction and then $6.70 on the second transaction.

I have emailed them and this is the reply:

Coinbase:

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting Coinbase support.

Unfortunately, digital currency transactions using most blockchains are irreversible, meaning once they are sent there is no way to reclaim funds.

If you sent digital currency from your Coinbase account to an email address by accident, your funds will be returned to you in 30 days if the funds remain unclaimed. If the email address has not already been claimed, you could do so to ensure the funds are returned to you.

Is this a joke???

So less money with so high fee. but anyways
Are you sure the fee was excluded from those 30$ and 35$? It never ever happened to me and I am a conibase user since years.

This is strange, I didn’t have this problem with coinbase before. Can you paste the two Blockchain transactions here so that we can better advise you?

Meanwhile, seems like coinbase support don’t understand your question or not answering to the point. I suggest you write a detailed email with the screen shot of funds deducted from your account and the bitcoin transaction to them again.

I personally don't use coinbase so I'm really not 100% sure, but what happened here is most likely:

Transaction#1 was sent with a $30 - $19.28 = $10.72 transaction fee and transaction#2 was sent with a $35 - $6.70 = $28.3 transaction fee. So yea, the only way we can really find out how much you paid in fees is if you show us both transaction IDs.

All I can see is the high fees being asked to pay.  It is much better if you withdraw your bitcoin or money in a big amount so you can save some of the fees.  Likewise try to make it clear to the staff of coinbase.  And there is still hope that you might retrieve your money.

Are you sure that the transaction fee was not included in the amount you send? Because based on the price right now if you send a $30 you probably get less than half of it, technically coinbase is one of the most trusted wallet so I doubt they wouldn't send a right amount.

I personally don't use coinbase but from the explanation above, their is misconception in the sense that the transactions was not successful and the amount charged from the wallet was underpaid amount. You said you wanted to send $30 but end up sending $16+$10 fees which amount to a total of $26 instead of $36. But the easiest way for us to know is for you to provide the transactions ID here before we can give the right advice.

Coinbase transaction fee is much higher than other wallets, it is better for you to show the transaction for better understanding and advices.

Most probably, the miner fees are included in the transactions you sent.

The answer they gave you actually make sense If you asked me the same thing you just asked in the title because It's still unclear If you typed the wrong amount and you want your funds back or the problem is coming from their system as they didn't send the right amount.

I have never had a problem with Coinbase so I might be a little biased, however we will need to see your transactions to figure it out.
