Title: Have you been to the Moon? Any advice?
Post by: davemanet on December 11, 2017, 07:53:44 PM
Have you had money on a coin that went to the moon?

I invest in some coins but none have gone to the moon yet.  Any advice?  I sometimes feel like I buy after the coin has already gone up :/

Depends on what your idea of "moon" is really. I have had a few coins that have gone and done 2-5x the biggest of being TenX from ICO but apart from that no real crazy moonshots. To me a "moon" is 10x or better and I have yet to experience this myself but I figure patience and hodling will allow it to happen eventually.

I`ve bought ETH when it was 7 $. That was my first experience with crypto world, but because i was a newbie who didnt know what to do i sold all my eth at 15. For me it was a good profit and i didnt know that in this world 10x is a common thing. I mistakenly considered this like stock trading and thougt i was very lucky to double my investment. I regret that i didnt read more before investing.
But after that i got into xlm and i got a 20x wich was nice, then got the ETC train and i got a pretty good profit.
Now i know that you need to be patience in this game and you should never move the entire portofolio. But i consider the money that i 'lost" were invested in experience.

Yes Antshares - now called NEO.
Bought when it was below $5 - decided to sell when it soared to $32
The thing is... buying is easy compared to selling.
Keep reading about the market, observe the sentiment, make your own judgement - it's very hard though.

carefully first the coin you want to buy.
do not buy when the price has gone up.
maybe my advice is to wait until the price of the coin is at the top.
be patient..

I bought bitcoin when it was around $4000 price and bought more when everyone is selling and price drop at around $2700 area. For my  altcoins some of the coins has doubled its price but i'm still not selling it.

For the advice first we need to know the coins that you bought, on what price and when did you bought it. If you think the price will not rise think again i bought some shit coins like Doge but still price has double since i bought it which is awesome never thought it would happen. Just be patient and do not think about your investment to much.  2018 will be another good year for cryptocurrency.

Yeah, mostly this thing happen with me, i also hold some coins and still hold them but i have no profit from them, even these coins price is falling down, But only one coin and that is bitcoin give me a lot of profit, and i can use this sentence that bitcoin price has gone to the moon. In trading we must need patience to wait for a profit.

I once had a coin that mooned but if I had kept it till last year I would have seen the zeta reticulae star system, so it all depends on what you calculate to be a moon landing. Is it it a five times gain? Is it a 20 times gain? O r do you hit for the further away stars and be ton a 100 times gain. The biggest gain I ever saw was a 20 times gain and I used that money to pay my rent for six months so that was nice. I just wish I had more luck and some more of those that would radically one dy change my life sigh.  :)

It depends on what you call moon. For some it is x3 others it is times x100 profit. Some of the coins that I have bought have done x5 and I sold for profit others more than x5, while the other shitcoins have  keep nosediving like they are digging for crude but in this game I have learnt to not to panicking and be patient. My most recent is EMC2, made x4 in 4 days.

I bought STR (now XLM) at 300 and sold them at 3000 a few month ago. That's my first big profit even I just invest a little.
Try to read the chart and read the trend from volume. it's a good way to know which coin to get profit.
And don't get panic or you will lose your opportunity.

When you invest into a coin really matter and you should not buying a coin because it is puming or at the upward trend but buying into a coin because it is accumulating. If you buy a coin during dump you will make profit from it when it is pumping or what you refer to be in the moon. Most new investors buying into a coin when it is at the distribution angle of the trading area and that is why their losing money.

Pay attention to the following fact:
the last 2-3 weeks the capitalization of many coins from the top 30 has increased, such as: IOTA, Dash, NEM, Litecoin, Cardano, Stellar Lumens, EOS, Monero.
It is worth paying attention to those coins that have not yet shown strong growth, such as Neo, Ripple, BCH, BTG, OmiseGo, Qtum, Waves, Stratis, ETC.

Patience is the key bro. You have to wait for your coin to pop from those other already on the moon coins. You can simply check the history of your coin from the coinmarketcap website in the history section and have look over the graphs. Once you go there then your picture will get more clearer and you will see its spikes and downward movement that have had happen in the past.

Once you check them out then you decide whether to keep those coin for longer period of time or just reach the break even point and take out the investment. But to be honest if you have already made right choice of the coin then I will suggest you to wait for long, and this long could be really few months to a year also.

Yeah. i had invested in LTC when it's price was $5, although i sold pretty early. if i had held up until now, i could've gotten super huge profits. i still have other alts that might moon someday.

Actually i really dont know whats the meaning of "moon" or "mooning" or "going to the moon" or what many may call them when my first step in trading world. But literally, as time goes by and learning some ways in different word, its just basically means to pump or increase in value. I really dont invest in tokens using money but using bounty campaign to use in trading. As of now one of the tokens i receive in airdrop is going to the moon but in slow phase. Yes, i also believe in one of the replies that moon is depend on our preferences in what range we will call the tokens in to the moon.

Bitcoin gone go beyond the moon as its prices surge at the speed of light. So as advice even at high price bitcoin still be the first choice to invest, it might not increase the way it does a few days ago but the popularity + demand of it = new price record will be broken sooner or later. Im new to altcoin thingy so I can’t make assumptions of its profitability.

I invest in some coins but none have gone to the moon yet.  Any advice?  I sometimes feel like I buy after the coin has already gone up :/

my advice is to stop being greedy and if you invest in altcoins that go up and you already make some profit, then be satisfied with that profit.
if you continue being greedy and want a huge profit, like a 500% profit then it leads to irrational decisions such as holding an altcoin even after it gave you enough profit and eventually losing the chance to sell and take that profit because it is going to get dumped.

practically you will be giving up a 30% profit for example for the "hope" that it goes up to 100% but instead it falls and you lose not only that 30% profit but also part of your initial investment too.

Have you had money on a coin that went to the moon?

What coins are you referring to? Almost all of the coins right now are going to the moon. Please pick the top 1-5 coins and hold it long term if you really want to get to the moon.

I invest in some coins but none have gone to the moon yet.  Any advice?  I sometimes feel like I buy after the coin has already gone up :/

Again, you forgot to mentioned what coins you invested, but I'm sure that you have made profits already because most of the top coins are already increasing by the folds at the moment.

Exactly, as much as emotions are the worst enemy of trader, I think being greedy should be considered as well. A well balance attack should include at least a good financial returns, no need to look and target like x500 or more. For me a x100 returns is already good. And as you explained, you will end up losing more if you became greedy because you can't stop and exit at the right moment. And when the coins crash, most likely instead of getting x100 returns, you will get less than than and regret sets in.

And yeah it depends on our own preferences with the term moon and for me moon is when a coin already hits new ATH in its record. However, I'm also holding some of those coins that already gave me a good profit.

it takes a lot of time and patience to have that achievement in trading. My first crypto coin that went to the moon is ethereum, i buy it when it is only 5$ last year, now it is 700$ in value. My only mistake was i only hold a few ethereum that time
