Title: What is the BEST way for me to mine with Nvidia GTX 460 and Intel Quad Core Post by: iamthelittleone on July 03, 2011, 07:42:23 PM So, I am totaly new to this, and would like to try out mining of bitcoins, so, I just dont know what method is best for me.
I have a Nvidia GTX 460, and an intel Core Quad procesor. Nothing special :/ So, should I try mining solo? or pool mining? if pool mining, how to do it? which pool is best? Also, how much bitcoin can I expect to make? And, can I do it on windows 7 which is 64bit? Or do I need linux? Thanks. You can mine on windows (using guiminer) and a gtx 460 can make 66 mh/s so you can make 1.5BTC per month (at current difficulty). I think you will be able to find good candidates among AMD lines in threads already existing.

If you want BTC and don't have proper mining hardware, you should really just buy them over mining them. You'll get more BTC/dollar that way. Don't think that mining is the only way to get BTC, and don't think that it's free either. With inadequate hashing power, you, or the person responsible for the bill, will be spending more on electricity than you will receive through BTC. If you get the faster card, join a pool. Or you can just take your card money and buy some coin and wait. I just bought a 6770 and will be installing it soon.
