There are plenty of successful ICO's that didn't use bounties or signature campaigns. As a matter of fact, I was only asking because I'm looking for ICO's that aren't doing it. The last 2 I've gotten in on dumped all their tokens as soon as they could and I ended up losing money...

So Ethorse pretty much allows you to bet on which altcoins you think will be successful? Seems like a fun idea.

Very interesting concept of crypto betting. I am seriously thinking about  investing to this ICO. But I have few suggestions for you.

Add more information to website. I think the whitepaper is fantastic but the website lacks some important information that can be found in whitepaper but some people only read the website.
You should expose the fact that there is a 100% bonus on the first day (phase 1) and how much is the bonus during phase 2. There is a table in the whitepaper, but again, such information should be on the website and here in the ANN to attract investors.
When I clicked on "Try beta" it says "You are on main network. Please connect to Ropsten Testnet." and the website doesn't seem to work. Or I don't know how to connect to Ropsten Testnet.

If you think BTC is going to have a higher price growth (%) in the next 24 hours, you can bet on it and win (ETH) from everyone who bets on LTC and ETH. This is a common situation you might have noticed in the market when BTC pumps, alts suffer. You can use such market knowledge to increase your win odds. Ethorse will have races in varying time scales (24hr, 7D, etc).

3. About using our dApp, it is working on Ethereum Testnet. You have to switch the network on Metamask from Main network (default) to Ropsten Testnet. I understand this is not straightforward and just as complicated as using any dApp (Eg. Etherdelta, Etheroll). Another awesome and unique altcoin. I have never seen this kind of project before to be honest, therefore I'll be supporting this project! It's just that the total supply kinda puts me off. It would be awesome if the total supply is around 50m tokens only. But regardless, this is going to be one hella awesome coin in the future I believe.

We are a team of 3. Everything developed so far for the betting platform (Solidity, React, Redux, Truffle/open zeppelin) is done in-house including the crowdsale contract.

Good mission, I often find a successful project without launching ICO programs and signature campaigns. It depends on how the company develops the project and who the team is behind the project. Perhaps, all you have to do is, how to get people to support the project and take part in project success. Good job dev.

Our team members come with good amount of experience in infosec and server-side background with successful projects in the past. Team members have also done Blockchain development work in the past as service. However, Ethorse will be the first ICO for this team.

We will not. We do not see any merit in that just like any other gambling-related projects. Moreover, anyone can buy faces to put on the website/whitepaper (Eg: iDice, etc). We believe we have more than just a website/whitepaper to prove our legitimacy. We have worked hard to build the dApp, which already has users. We have publicly audited its smart contract code. Check out our Github activity, we are committing code every day. Based on what we have produced so far, we strongly believe our team is well qualified to execute this project.

I think anyone who is familiar with this subsection of crypto realizes the need for anonymity. And everyone else should realize you guys are already very upfront with everything that actually matters. Whether or not someone has your name and picture has nothing to do with how well your platform works.

After a day of messing around on there, I can legitimately say you guys have an awesome platform. It's so much fun, well polished too. I can't wait for the launch.

I think that's the way with just about everyone in this space though because of how new it is. Just having the blockchain development experience puts you ahead of a lot of them.

You should try to use their platform if you haven't. You can actually bet on stuff right now, but the way all the coins are looking you're pretty much just betting on who is losing the least value lol.

If you think about it though, this is a situation where betting on the other coins is a huge advantage, as opposed to just betting on them buy buying and holding the actual coins. Because then you'd be losing money instead of betting on who is losing least.

Good question. Ethorse provides a betting system widely used in Horse Betting - "Parimutuel Betting". With this, if your coin wins by having even a slightly higher price increase %, you win the entire pool from everyone who bet on other coins.
Eg: If everyone is betting on BTC or ETH, let's assume 100 ETH, and you are the only one to bet on LTC which later becomes a winner, then you get 100 ETH from the others even if you wagered only 0.1ETH. Huge in comparison to buying from exchanges. This is where the Pay-off odds come into play. Hopefully, this explains the huge potential of Ethorse in comparison to using the Exchanges. And the beauty is there is no central party running these races, announcing the winner and issuing the payout. It's all done by smart contracts without any external control.

Ok, so I was typing these questions, but instead I decided to un-lazy myself and see if I could find the answers in the WP. And I actually did (lol). Only thing that wasnt really clear to me was the 2 years - each 6 months unlock of the tokens of the team.
Project looks very cool. Not sure if 5% takeout will be too much, but even that can be changed. And paying out all profits to token holders as well as already planning to make the tokens useful to bet are all pluses.

The low poly horse on the site is so cool.

Yes I'm very interesting in this project. But I think its almost impossible to getting in because of the low hard cap.

Low hard cap is a plus. Not such a crazy thing though, given that Dice/Etheroll which is a similar concept, has a total market cap of approximately $23M.

It is rather low isn't it? I usually find the opposite problem. I guess the team just isn't greedy like everyone else.

Game based token are the most sophisticated in my opinion when the price is fluctuated by exchanges and traders alone from the utility of the token in the game. I followed rustbits and reality clash which are not able to establish a product even after success in ICO.

From the total supply of 125M, 15% is for the team vested over 2 years. 5% is for the bounty.

Shame I missed this ICO, love the concept of betting on other coins. Two questions though -

1) What would the difference be in betting the price difference vs simply buying the coin? Would it mainly be similar to a type of futures leverage?

2) Where can I buy ETHORSE post-ico? EtherDelta no longer loads for me and I cannot find on CMC.

The concept of this project is unique and fantastic, I advise all members of this community to spend two minutes to get to know it better and make your own considerations!

Your first question was my exact first thought when I heard about this project, but the longer you think about it the more obvious the differences are. You might hope for 20% gain in a day by holding a token, but if you bet on that same token and it did get that 20% gain and ended up outperforming all the others, you win everyone's ETH that bet against you. So if you put 1 ETH on it, and 50 people put 1 ETH on other cryptos to bet against you, you win 50 ETH if you're the only one betting on the one you chose.

Etherdelta is the single worst exchange out there, I’d give it a miss. I ve used it a few times when it’s the only option to buy a coin, every time is use it I hope it will be the last. The user interface is a mess and near impossible to use.  Hope this helps.

I've been reading up on your progress lately. It appears you have been working on the smart contract which will now be deployed automatically for each new race. That seems like a really helpful feature to save time.

Are you expecting the main net launch to still be next month (February)? If so, do you think mid or late Feb?

That's a good question. I'd love to get an update on the mainnet launch too.

We had a successful release of the Ethorse dApp on Kovan Testnet last week. We received positive and constructive feedback from our community (posted here and here). We are extremely thankful to the community members who are helping with this effort and providing feedback contributing to the success of Ethorse. The network connectivity issues we had in the beginning are not present anymore. We are continuing to update the dApp and implement new features based on the feedback we receive. Below are some updates we have rolled out so far.

-The Betting period for all races have been increased from 1hr to 6hrs, so there will always be a race to bet on
-Added two new 1hr races. Now for every 24hrs, there will be four 1hr races and two 24hr races
-See the current coin price the dApp uses before you bet and during the race
-Odds calculation is updated to align with global standards and easier understanding (Now includes +1ETH)
-Small update to make it usable for now in Cipher Mobile Browser
-Other updates — Scrollbar, wordings, price (and %) decimals, disable coin selection after the race starts, etc.

As we continue to update the dApp, please keep the feedback coming. If you need Kovan Testnet Ether to play with the dApp, all you have to do is log-in to the Kovan Faucet Gitter with Twitter/Github account and post an address to receive it. We will be conducting a bug bounty in the next few days. After we address the major items from the community feedback and the bounty, we will release the dApp on Mainnet. Thanks again for your continued support to the success of Ethorse. Together, we should all be proud of the progress we have made so far in a short time.

Looks like a lot of happy investor in this project. I am still feeling like I didn't have enough HORSE tokens.

I think this app may also provide an interesting channel for prediction markets to get info. I'm sure there will be insiders who cannot resist making a bet on Ethorse to profit from their knowledge.

Sad that they get delisted on IDEX, but with Yobit theres a solid exchange with many gamblers. I think it is the perfect exchange for HORSE ;D also a nice increase in price. 26% :o
