Ethereum, Neo, and Monero will be here to stay for long term. I advise you to do your research and spend at least a week on the coin your choosing to invest in. Check out their reddit, slack, and discord.

Thanks for your advice.

How much in cash volume would you invest in each ?    Also  any idea about Ripple and  wave?

The answer of your question depends on your own choices and decisions. SO try to make right ones. I have invested an amount close to yours in crypto. I have in my portfolio 30% bitcoin, 20% Ethereum, 20% LieCoin and 10% Ripple and 10% ONION coin.

Its better to invest it in Omisego(OMG) it is likely to rise in 2018 because it has lots of development going to happen in that year.

Put all your money in BTC. It's still taking baby steps in growth as far as I am concerned, plus think of all those airdrop and forked coins that HODLERS of BTC get

I will keep about 60% in BTC. 10% in ETH. 25% in Monero, IOTA, Vertcoin, Moncoin. I think these are the coins with great potential. the rest 5 % I would invest in ICOs like Hdoc, Zabercoin, or any other promising ICO.

I would put 50% of portfolio in bitcoin and ethereum and the rest to altcoins with good potential. You have to do a lot of research before choosing which one to invest in.

you should hold 25% Bitcoin , 25% ethereum , 30% altcoin top like Iota, Dash ... and 20% for altcoin with low marketcap  ;D
Hold coin with 10-20M market cap and listed on big exchange like Bittrex, Binance and wait for x10  ;)

I think i would invest most of £5000 in bitcoins as recently the price of bitcoin has fallen and is on the lower side. When it goes up again it would result in a huge profit. The rest of it I think i would invest in Ethereum as it has alot of potential and is pretty good for long term investments. Also transactions in Ethereum cost very less fees and are pretty quick.

I would try to create a balanced portfolio. Part of the funds to invest in bitcoin, some in the Ethereum, part of the alternative tokens. I think it would give good results.

I think part (half) of the deposit is better to keep in BTC. Plus most currencies are traded to BTC, and you can always quickly buy something worthwhile.
According to many experts, BTC in the new year can reach 50,000. I think that at least X2 from the current price will do exactly.
With regard to the Alts heard such coins as MANA, QSP, TRIG, ICX can give X)  :)

The problem with advice for this is that it all depends what $5000 means to you, and how much of a gambler you are.
I always keep a decent % of my crypto in BTC and top alts, and then a smaller amount in what I think are more speculative undervalued coins.

i think with 5000$ you can invest in many altcoins to earn profit, but you should not invest in bitcoin because it has high value now, so yeah it is not easy to invest in bitcoin but all other altcoins are great for 5000$, you can invest in ethereum and NEO, and Dash, they are very fasmous coins, having the high trust from investors, so their price will rise in the future.

From now you should invest in BNT and IOTA for the next two year. This is the growing asset now like Ethereum what was in the last three years back. One more crypto I would like to suggest all is TFL and the coming one is CHI. So, keep an eye on this two crypto also.

I've had a similar amount and put half of it in STORM.

It's got quite a steady rise, less than a dollar and is due to appear on a few new exchanges soon.

Obviously as always, DYOR :)
