Title: [ANN] [BTCS] Revival of Bitcoin-sCrypt (New Dev Team & Move to POS/POW Hybrid)
Post by: Smokeasy on December 13, 2017, 05:37:40 PM
IMPORTANT:  BTCS HARDFORK ON MARCH 26, 2018.  ALL CLIENTS MUST UPGRADE TO V.1.7.0!!!

Community,

We are pleased to announce that the official revival of the Bitcoin-sCrypt (BTCS) Altcoin has begun.  As such, we have three important announcements to share.

Announcement 1

As part of the revival, we have set up a Bitcoin-sCrypt Discord channel for the BTCS community to communicate.

Join the live Bitcoin-sCrypt discussion here:  https://discord.gg/EAXdR8j

Announcement 2

As part of the revival, Spidersbox will take over lead development for Bitcoin-sCrypt and Smokeasy will step back to take a secondary supporting role.

Spidersbox is a talented and experienced cryptocoin developer who has agreed to take over leadership of the Bitcoin-sCrypt project to restore BTCS back to its previous luster...with assistance from his team from previous cryptocoin projects reviving other coins, which include:
BitBar
LiteBar
BitcoinFast
LitecoinPlus

We welcome Spidersbox and his team to the Bitcoin-sCrypt community!

Announcement 3

As part of the revival, Bitcoin-sCrypt is looking to change the consensus mechanism from pure Proof-of-Work to a hybrid Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake system to ensure mining remains decentralized.

The first steps will be adding repairwallet, zapwallettxes and coin control to the current client wallet to set up the framework for implementing Proof-of-Stake.  These changes will not require a hard-fork, while the later change to a hybrid Proof-of-Stake system will.

More info can be found at the official Bitcoin-sCrypt Discord channel: https://discord.gg/EAXdR8j

We are excited about the future of Bitcoin-sCrypt!

BTCS is currently listed on https://cryptopia.no.nz and https://c-cex.com.  We are working on getting it on additional exchanges.

Thanks,

~Smokeasy

Hello!
If in 2014 I had several BTCS coins, then what happened to them?
I'm synchronizing my wallet right now and I see a balance of 0.
There are some strange transactions that I did not commit.
Transactions from today that occurred at the time of the synchronization...

your coins will still exist in your wallet if your wallet still has the private keys

When the hybrid Proof-of-Stake consensus algo is implemented we will have a hard fork which will require an updated wallet.

At least this coin has already proven that the team behind this are not ghosts.  ;) Hopefully, there's really something in here that will further develop this coin into something big.

Always believed BitcoinScrypt would be a competitor to Bitcoin.
Especially with PoS / PoW hybrid we should be prepared for the future!

Bitcoin-sCrypt successfully hard-forked today making the block confirmation process more efficient for miners.

Now that the blockchain has been optimized, we are embarking on an organized marketing campaign starting next week.

Community,

Now that we have successfully completed the first blockchain fork of the revival of Bitcoin-sCrypt, we are ready for the next set up updates.

As such, there will be a mandatory update for all BTCS clients on March 26 2018.

Accordingly, all clients must upgrade to v.1.7.0 before March 26, 2018.

We will notify the major exchanges and mining pools.

After this update, the next major update will involve the move over to the hybrid proof-of-stake algo.

Well... looks like another one bites the dust.

Doesn't help when the 'mandatory update' wallet still says it is the old wallet version.

Come on devs(this isn't the only wallet!), get your act together. Proper versioning is important!

addnode=45.63.37.110:30201
addnode=45.63.38.204:30201
(just in case anyone was wondering...)
