Title: The SEC is cracking down on American ICO projects w/bounty programs
Post by: andrewjchapin on December 13, 2017, 09:36:09 PM
Bounties were a great way for hobbyists to get some free token/altcoin, a great way for ICO managers to stretch their marketing dollar, and, it turns out, a great way to grab the attention of the SEC.

With the SEC cracking down on bounties (and perhaps airdrops, etc.), it seems like the bounty party is over.

Interesting news, but It seems like it would be hard to enforce since many projects do not originate the in US and the SEC would have no way of knowing the bounty participants are in the US or not, since all I need to provide is my Ethereum address.

This is only if the tokens get labeled as a security, most are doing it in a way to avoid that.
