Title: Did I lose all my BTC?
Post by: dumbunny on December 14, 2017, 04:58:50 AM
I was trying to transfer my BTC to an address and when I copied the address I didn't get the last character because it was text wrapped. I copied 36hMqcjP3CrVrGyitqNzteVrjyGjRn3mW instead of 36hMqcjP3CrVrGyitqNzteVrjyGjRn3mWc. The transaction shows that it is still pending. Is there any way to cancel or Did I lose all my BTC?

What wallet did you use? ??? without that last character... the address is invalid and the transaction should have been rejected! :o :o If your wallet did not reject this address, it is BROKEN and should NOT be used!

Are you using some kind of Online Wallet ? How come that address passed on ?

You can see : https://blockchain.info/address/36hMqcjP3CrVrGyitqNzteVrjyGjRn3mW ( it will give Checksum does not validate ) , Even though i made my rotator script and i used to check BTC address through Blockchain to validate. How is that service passed amount of user to an address which is not even get Validated.

If its a online wallet try to Open a ticket and complain. They will defenetly solve it.

Sorry to say but it very well may be gone. You always have to make sure you check in the double check that the address you put in is correct. That coin transactions as far as I know are not reversible.

Just wait for two days. I don't  think you will loose your coins because the transaction didn't really take place . Since its a invalid address I think after some time it will be credited back to your account. If you don't receive the coins within two days  then I don't think you can do anything more to get your coins back.

Do you have the purported transaction id?  As others have asked, what wallet is this?

It should be rejected and you should lose nothing - unless you hit the 1 in ~4 billion checksum lottery.
