Title: Mt Gox not planning to host LTC.
Post by: Rora on July 18, 2013, 09:10:47 AM
Hey guys,

In an email requesting help with a lost password I asked about LTC, this is the response I got.

Keiji, Jul 18 17:43 (JST):
Hello,

The delay of confirmation email occurs also to other customers with the same issue. As of now, all i could recommend is you to try utilising

the "Lost Password?" button on the Mt.Gox log in page which will pop up after you have entered the incorrect password. Please don't forget

to check your spam box to make sure.

About the LTC, as of now, we are not sure yet when LTC will be listed in our site or if it will happen.

We will going to inform everyone if ever LTC will be listing in Mt.Gox.

Best regards,

Mt.Gox Team

They said maybe July so in a couple of months at the most.

The number of people who can't wait to dump when LTC hits Gox is going to be very bad for the currency.

Huh? How can that be? Surely they aren't going to wait for it to hit Gox only to then go ahead and dump it cheaper than they could sell it right now on existing exchanges?

So what is the imagined potential problem?

It's just a canned answer.  No different to what they have previously said.

Oh the irony.

Or are not making any litecoins?

Or are you not opening businesses that accept litecoins?

Or do I have it the wrong way round, and what you mean is you need Gox to be able to sell you litecoins because you cannot buy them elsewhere maybe due to not trusting other suppliers of them?

I mine myself, and have been for some time. But as with most other LTC miners we are hoping for a little more return on our setups than the current 2.7 or so per LTC. Gox may be able to provide that.

Talking to support staff is no way to find out what a company's future business strategy is!

Would you expect a Google developer to know what plans Google had for Ripple? ;)

I would put this down to any info being better than no info - but its probably better to just start spending the LTC on stuff!

Seems to me that Fontas is doing well with his pump n dump scheme for LTC, you might not need MT Gox! :)

Would've been faster to spend it on Primecoins before primecoins blew up, oh well, hindsight. Or is it not too late even yet?

MtGox is in serious trouble on multiple fields. To expect them to complicate their situation by adding LTC or any other cryptocoin would be dumb.

But, as shown countless times already, reasoning with LTC horde is waste of time.

Yup.

Got in chat support at MtGox today, asked where my money is (waiting for SEPA transfer for over 2 months)... "Linda Support has left the room"...

i guess its fake because they already accounced it several times. not to add it would be dumb because they would miss the chance to add the second largest crypto and they make money with this business. do you have a screenshot of it?

Bitcoin megastore seriously give it a rest.

All I see you is hating on litecoin every chance you get when you see a ltc thread popup.

You only care about your own interest which is obvious from your user name and constant bagging on threads you should not be interested in.

Look at the dicisions that need to be made. For MtGox to continue being a player in the market they will need to expand to other currencies. BTC-E are consistently expanding because of this. I believe that if BTC-E had a payment gateway they would be the market leader. MtGox is up there due to two reasons, its high volume and merchant services... other than this I see no USP the MtGox has, and in fact a long history of hacks, poor service and question upon question from its customers.

A lot of rumours here and there some trying to ppump LTC some trying to cause a dump to profit from it.  The best way is to ignore all the rumors and continue life as usual

I said this a thousand times: once LTC trades on Mtgox there will be outflows from BTC as a result.  The powers to be won't let that happen.  For LTC to overtake BTC would show how unstable and immature this industry is, and would begin the trend to find the next coin to overtake LTC.  The BTC oligopoly won't let that happen.  Not yet...

And yes, I agree.  LTC gets dumped real soon after it starts trading at Mtgox.  There's nothing stopping a person to transfer their BTC over to Btc-e or Cryptsy to buy into LTC.  And even then, LTC hasn't done much; its price continues to be highly correlated to BTC.

Rora, since you wonder what to do, I strongly suggest: sell all your LTC for $ and witdraw, forget whole mining thing, sell rigs... Or even better, convert all LTC to BTC. After that convert all BTC to FTC, CNC or DGC, FRK, etc, etc... That have to be strong coins with bright future, you dont need gox for price to go up, this are coins that shall actually have some real life use. Not LTC, LTC shall die in vain...
  Sorry had to troll :).
