Reading the security advice that was linked in a sticky topic, I wondered, since for simplicity's sake my bitcoins are in their online wallet service (better than storing copies across my partitions to have them at all time when dual-booting, being able to use my btc on the go with my mobile, creating a little partition just for bitcoins so I can use it in my whole system, getting a VPS with money I won't use for VPSes for having my btc anywhere), is it a good choice to store them there? I know they've got all kind of security measures and anti-XSS thingies etc. but... how transparent are they?

I don't think you know what transparency means...... Online wallets get hacked all the time. A simple USB flash drive is a great way to store your wallet between OS. The blockchain is completely transparent, it's just near impossible for any authority to link a wallet address to you with out you giving it to them.

Uhm, I think you got it a bit wrong:

First, I'm talking about blockchain DOT info's (not the bitcoin blockchain) online wallet service.

Second, with transparency I mean "telling our users we accidentally royally fucked it up" and if there are any ways to corroborate anything blockchain.info says (as in organisational, operational, etc. not the bitcoin blockchain or the transactions per se).

I think you missed it unless you're talking about how glass is usually transparent.....

that's what I am talking about: In case a hacker hits their business, will they tell us? Has it happened before? How can we corrobarate their information?

Safety, sir, you're correct I do believe. He wants the dual boot though. Hmm..... machine capable of a VM, sounds like better idea? Why must you boot to windows? or what ever other OS you're using other than linux. Why must it be from a cold wet boot?

Right, I use linux and windows, and I've read that "just copying your wallet" isn't the right solution and it renders some bitcoins unusable in one copy but not in the other, etc.

I would believe that's not possible, unless its running on two machines. Every time Bitcoin-qt starts it loads the chain syncs and scans. When it scans its looking for your transactions.
