GIMP has 2 guys working on it but they're making a big push now for features- single window interface + lots of other new things. They could really use the cash. I thought the purpose of these charities was to make the targets officially accept bitcoin donations on their site to increase our exposure, rather than actually trying to help them in a meaningful way. I wouldn't donate this pot to the EFF for this reason and because the amount is probably negligible to them anyway. Also I checked their address and it looks like it's still receiving bitcoins regularly, so the risk that they stop accepting our donations should be low.
